I finally was able to scratch a few $$ together to donate….. ๐
Well, the interview went pretty well on Friday. They were pretty up front about the money being not-so-great (if I get the job, after taxes it’ll be only a little more than what unemployment is paying…. ๐ ) But; the benefits are pretty awesome–full medical, dental, tuition reimbursement, they pay for any classes that are needed for our licenses, AND A REAL PENSION!! The last time I worked for a municipality, you got pension rights right away, not after like 10 years.
It’s 10 hour days that start at 4 AM (GAH!! ๐ฎ ๐ฎ I am SO not a morning person….) and end at 2:30 in the afternoon, which isn’t so bad. And it’s day shift and not nights or rotating shifts—I was a little worried about that.
I got a follow-up call from the township yesterday, asking for a contact number for one of the references I had provided, and I was told that they’re looking to make their decision this week, and it’s down to me and one other guy.
I keep telling myself that no matter what, I only need this job until we can make our move to Kentucky in a few years, and this job also will give me the chance to get a drinking water treatment license from NJ, which, like my other NJ licenses will carry reciprocity in KY, and will hopefully be very helpful to me in getting a job down there.
So…..please continue to keep the fingers crossed for me! ๐ I’ll update when I get more news.Well, after being laid off in August, I am *finally* going on an interview!!! I applied for a civil service water treatment plant operator’s spot here in town…..back in December. I know the wheels of government grind slowly, but Jeeze oh Pete! ๐
Anyway, please send positive vibes my way on Friday afternoon. I really want this job; it will probably be not so great pay to start, but the benefits should be pretty good. And some money coming in sure beats unemployment. ๐
I’ll keep y’all posted……March 26, 2010 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Happy Birthday to The Great Goddess of Windstone! (3/26) #809031Happy Birthday!! Hope you’re having a great day!

Whew, what a relief—for Raven *and* the rest of us. ๐
So glad to hear a happy ending.Oh, wow…. ๐ฎ I would SO buy anything done in that blue. What’s the going rate for a lung these days?
The caramel/brown baby is stunning, too, but my very favorite color in the whole world is that blue. I even named our farm Royal Blue Farm. ๐ณWow! ๐ฎ I have a live horse here that looks a LOT like this guy.
What a beautiful job, Lokie! ๐Call me crazy, but……I wouldn’t mind if the raffle didn’t go off and we saw a major batch of pyo’s hit the store instead……….*ducks and covers* ๐ I’m jonesing for another pyo dragon.
Nicely done! The moth came out very well. 8)
