Hi Dizzy!! It’s good to see you!
Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
My art: featherdust.comI posted this in the other Kickstarter thread, but just in case, I will share it here too:
Hi everyone! Thankfully I’ve seen very little of this and I am very grateful, but a gentle reminder to be kind to one another during this Kickstarter. I see that things didn’t go quite as planned and it’s led to a lot of frustration and concerns about things being fair. I truly do understand how awful this can feel, and it’s okay to vent, but please make sure your vents aren’t directed at another participant. Being critical of the system (I didn’t have anything to do with the Kickstarter but I sure can see how much of a pain it is being) is okay, but please be thoughtful in your interactions with one another. Thank you for being considerate! 🙂

My art: featherdust.comHi all! I edited the very first post in this thread with this information, but I’ll post it here too since we are already 7 pages in and it seems unlikely that everyone will go back and notice (I know I wouldn’t, haha!).
As this situation unfurls, it is important to know that there are many unknowns out there about this virus, and as a result, misinformation (both intentional and unintentional) is spreading like wildfire on the internet. Please, if you share information here, do your best due diligence to check it factually to the best of your ability. I am disappointed to say that even some of our leadership are advocating for truly bizarre things (I am thinking of a county commissioner here in the USA that genuinely suggested people breathe in hot air from hair dryers– don’t do this) so, it is more important than ever to check and make sure misinformation does not spread, as sadly, in this situation, it has the ability to do very real harm. The decisions people make in the next few weeks can literally mean life and death for others. Please stay safe and take precautions seriously.
Additionally, this situation is a world-wide historical event, and it is tense and stressful for many, especially those that have comorbidity with this respiratory virus, and/or are forced to continue to risk exposure due to their jobs. Be respectful of others and understand that based on the information we have in areas where this has hit hardest, fear is a logical and very human response. Please channel your feelings about this to help spread kindness and understanding to those wholes lives are effected (which will probably be nearly all of us before this is over), even in small ways. I will have zero tolerance for unproductive rudeness during this time. Please, folks, let us show each other the good side of our human natures during this time, which is due only to get worse. Thank you for reading.

My art: featherdust.comMarch 24, 2020 at 6:37 am in reply to: A Large Collection Will Be For Sale Over The Coming Months #1606822Thank you all very kindly for moving COVID-19 discussion to the thread for it, I super appreciate that!
I will be sending a few PMs to a few folks here shortly, but please do refresh yourselves on the forum rules, especially if you are feeling a little heated over something. Especially when it comes to name-calling and political rants: Just don’t do it! Thanks so much folks!! We have a great community here and I know tensions can be high at times, especially in the face of a world-wide disaster unfurling in slow motion (boy do I understand how it can make things more tense!). Living through a major historical event is very stressful and often frightening when our loved ones are at risk. But, please, let us embrace kindness right now. Any replies here about this will get moved or deleted, so please carry on with drag0n’s thread as intended. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comI’ve not read EVERYTHING in this thread but am curious bc I just got a PM titled “Hello” from “Char” which requested how desperately she’s awaiting my response (I did simply ask if we know each other) and gave me a Yahoo email which I haven’t used. When clicking on her username here, it came up as No Results Found which says to me she doesn’t exist here. I’m new coming back here so IDK if I’m right. Anyone know about that username?
Just so everyone knows, when this happens (you get a PM from someone and when you go to see it or the user, “No Results Found” pops up), it means that an admin already got rid of the spam account, so all content (PMs, forum posts, etc) created by that spam account will give you an error such as “no results found”. I’m sorry if this is confusing to anyone! We try to get these accounts removed ASAP so that they don’t “get” anyone, but it has to be done manually. Sometimes we don’t know it’s happening until they spam you all. Eek!

My art: featherdust.comI cleaned up a few spammers this morning, including “char”. As always, if you get a PM from someone you don’t know, and the message is confusing or seems “out of context”, just delete it and report it here for us. Spammers know that they will tend to get more clicks/replies if they direct message people instead of just making a new spam forum topic. Especially if people have it set up to email them when they get a PM, they might just click on links in the email. Use care!

My art: featherdust.comI’ve never had this but I’d love to try! It does look amazing.

My art: featherdust.comOooh, I need to join that group! It’s looks awesome! I think the one person didn’t know what a ‘Windstone cat bird’ was. haha. Other than that they aren’t weird, they’re beautiful!
Oh gosh! I hadn’t seen that recent “cat bird” one! That’s the fourth winged cat Windstone that has turned up on that group’s page. People think they are weird??
People definitely think my fantasy creatures are “weird”, even when I just add wings onto otherwise normal animals like a cat or wolf. I don’t understand, but maybe some people just aren’t exposed to very much interesting stuff in their lives?! I once had a lady say that “combining two animals is the work of the devil”, so people believe in things that I never would have guessed at.

My art: featherdust.comNice to see you again! 🙂 When the forum very first started up you may have known me as “Nambroth”. I changed to my real-life name during the time when I was working for Windstone, to avoid confusion.
I’m sorry you have to sell, but I think it’s wonderful that they mean so much to you that you are selling to others that love them too!
I’m very sorry that our rules are long and overwhelming! Believe it or not, every (or, nearly every?) rule on there had to be made in response to a real problem faced by a forum member at one point… I can only speak for myself, but I know I just want everyone to be safe and have good experiences with trading and selling. 🙂Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! My art: featherdust.comThis is a test post to troubleshoot some stuff. Edit: YAY it works! You can ignore this post.

My art: featherdust.comHow is Windstone suffering? I’ve never heard that.
Big disclaimer: I am not talking for Windstone in any capacity whatsoever, this is purely my own personal observation from being at the fringes of Windstone; I think a better way to put it is that Windstone is sometimes struggling as a very small family business creating high end art collectibles, and I personally am amazed and thankful they can still afford to operate, given what has happened to the market for such luxury items and art in general in the last two decades. The landscape for selling such items has changed dramatically: the closure of a huge percentage of gift and collectible type brick and mortar shops, recession(s), shift in global marketing and buying, bubble “bursts” of collectors, and so on. It’s a complex issue with no one thing to “blame”, if that is even the right word. I can say that surviving as an independent artist in 2020 is extremely hard, and I imagine as a small company focused on art pieces that Windstone has struggles similar to but also beyond mine, since I do not have any employees to worry about nor a brick and mortar factory to finance at all levels.

My art: featherdust.comRowan is so cute!! So beautiful. What a lovely friend!
All of my pets are non typical!
I have two rescue cockatiels, one of which cannot be any younger than 31 (wow!). One I adopted when a friend that passed away wanted me to have her, and the other was from a family that couldn’t keep him.
I have a rescued pionus (bronze winged pionus) that is like a child to me, I’ve had her for 19 years now.
I also keep chickens, and honestly they make amazing pets if you get a friendly breed and raise them thoughtfully. My current chickens include Bielefelders, a German breed known for being large and friendly. They are huge puppies and are very sweet birds, and all 9 of them try to get into my lap at once for hugs and cuddles (not joking!)
They are very curious without being destructive, here they are, trying to figure out Pokemon Go:
Even the rooster is a total sweetie and cuddles in for naps:
I also keep captive bred shrimp; I’ve kept freshwater neocardinia before but right now I am focusing on my brackish Opae ula shrimp. They are tiny, less than half an inch long, and fascinating!

My art: featherdust.comLots of folks collect them! They are a very hot item in several of the online communities I am in (fantasy art, furries, fandoms). Some folks have researched the best places to have them made, both ethically and environmentally, even! This company is the best that I know of, in case it is helpful. https://www.pingamestrong.com/
Some people collect them and leave them on the backer, some people collect them and put them on cork boards to display them (it looks really cool), and of course some wear them!Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
My art: featherdust.comI don’t know if the were sending any PMs (I didn’t receive any), but I just marked three more accounts as spammers this morning as they made obvious spam topics.
(Edit: make that 5 or 6, though I lost count. Time to go feed the chickens and get some coffee)Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
