Collection has gone from one to, uh, a lot more than one!
I was… maybe 10? 12? …when I first saw a Windstone, because my best friend had two (mother & baby kirin) and I was really fascinated by them; we used to beg her mother to take us to a store called Jutenhoop’s so that we could look at the other Windstones there! I didn’t get my own until after moving halfway across the country, around age 13-4. I was in the mall and walked into a shop called The Glass Menagerie, and there they were — the most perfect gorgeous things I had ever seen: the original dragon family in White! I had never seen the Whites in person before (Peacock was by far the most popular color for stores to carry, and some would have a few Emeralds, too, but never Whites) so I had never seen them outside the Windstone catalog before. It was love at first sight, and I knew that I had to have them all!
I saved up $80 and bought the Mother first, because I didn’t want to start with a smaller piece, I wanted BIG! 🙂 After that I bought the Young, and then the Male, and so on. I now have almost all the White dragons! (There are a couple sculpts I don’t like much, so I don’t have those on purpose.) Now I just need a White Secret Keeper and a White Baby — at least, till Melody releases a new scupt!
For years, my collection was very tightly focused – all White dragons. But a few years after that fateful first White dragon purchase, I went into a store (same mall, different store: this one was The Tinder Box – Glass Menagerie having gone out of business) ready to order another White dragon, which I did… but I also walked out with a Peacock Oriental, having seen it while waiting and fallen totally heels over head for it! That was the first broadening of my Windstone obsession, and now I’m pleased to report that I have a Western family, an Oriental family, a triumph of Lap Dragons (I’ve decided that’s the correct collective noun, heehee!), and a very mixed flock of griffins as well as a few “sideline” pieces (Gothic Unicorn, White Mouse Wizard, Dragon Bookends, Frog Prince). And I’ve always like custom painting pieces, so I also have a fair few PYOs! Most recently, I’ve branched out into Pebbles, and now have four.

I know everyone is on the grab-bag and/or color-shift trains lately, but I for one would rather see more regular production pieces added to the catalog. The hoofers haven’t had any new colors released lately.
Seconding the “more regular production/already-produced colors on other pieces” idea! I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for Lavender Pearl Lap Dragons, and would also love to see the Standing Baby Kirin appear in the old brown color to match his relatives! Would also be ecstatic to see a release of Oriental Moon Dragons in the old Peacock color, for those waiting to complete a family (we just had the Chinese New Year, after all!)
Not that I’m not eagerly on board the WOW COLOR SHIFT YES PLEASE train, too… Anything foxy and color-shift hits the stores, I’m gonna be on it like somebody used superglue! But I don’t want to neglect my other families and cohorts completely; they deserve love, too. And the people who aren’t on the WOW COLOR SHIFT YES PLEASE train deserve something to spend money on, too. 🙂

I see you found some Wolf castings to do the color shift on; they’re so pretty, I had to sit on my hands to resist! (I’ve just got to make myself repeat, “I’m saving up for a whole flock of foxes, I’m saving up for a whole flock of foxes,” 1000 times out loud…)
Definitely hoping for Sitting Red Foxes to get their chance to shine (heh) after the Wolves and Tanukis, and/or Fennecs or Bat-Ears… but Lady Cats might break my resolve to wait for a fox option!

I have DONE this!! I very carefully copy-pasted the email sent in a PM, but somehow didn’t manage to copy the first letter, so I sent $500 to some rando by mistake! Thankfully, I was able to cancel the payment… but I still had to resend, and PayPal kept hold of the wrong payment for several days, so I didn’t have access to my own $500 for a week. Plus, of course, the poor seller had to wait (because I replied with “I sent the money, let me know when you mail the item!” and thus the seller waited all day for the payment to show up).
Actually, I just thought of another advantage to sending invoices. That way there is NO possibility of a buyer messing up an email address and sending the money to the wrong person. I am always just a smidge paranoid about that. 😉

You did the mother kirin but not the male.
And the mother is sold out! I’m hoping there will be at least one restock sometime this year, so I can pick up a red-eyed mother to go with my baby pair. 🙂

Melody, make my entire year and tell me this is going to be a new LP/store-stocked color?!? I’ve been yearning for a purple-with-blue-overtones color scheme for years… (Not too long ago, in the Conga Line thread, I jokingly said that I wanted to talk you into making “Iolite” a color scheme – and I linked to a photo of some cut iolites. They were almost exactly the color of this dragon!!)
If that became a production piece I would probably start crying and fanning myself madly like a woman from the Georgian era who can’t breathe for the awesomeness. (Or because back then they wore corsets, which I can’t even imagine the discomfort of.) That lap caught my eye too – absolutely spectacular! I’d love to see it with eyes in. 😀 (Lavender, I’m imagining?)

Basically, what etruscan said! But I wanted to suggest checking out the “wanted” Classified Ads here on the Windstone Forums, because I’m pretty sure I saw someone looking for a wizard like yours there.
They’re real. The best check for current prices is the ebay Windstone “Sold” listings for white pieces.
A coiled male sold for $31.99 plus $8.85 shipping on January 9.
A white scratching dragon sold for $139.00 Buy It Now plus $5.95 shipping (not enough to cover the cost, by the way) on December 9. That one may have been lower than market value due to the Buy It Now.
Another one sold for $125.00 plus $11.70 shipping in October.
One hatching baby shows up, but he was a best offer accepted, plus shipping from the UK, so it is hard to judge. Maybe $20 – $25 as a starting price for the baby?
Wizards like yours have not sold for a lot recently.
One was $22.95 Buy It Now plus $9.95 shipping on January 9.
Another sold for $59.95 Buy It Now plus $2.95 shipping in December.

I was certain I didn’t need one of these guys, but the flow of AMAZING pictures showcasing all their color interchange is making my mouth water. I was convinced my perfect and lovely gb snow leopard was all the cougar pebble I needed, but wow, my resolve is a wavering. If another sculpt is coming out in these colors, like a dragon, I can wait, but …wow again, I NEED an example of these color shifts in my collection /whine!
Well, if you take a close look at the photos in the “Corvallis Pictures” thread/Facebook photoset… I suspect colorshift Fennecs are going to be happening!

That was something a previous painter created and they are trying to see if any pf the production painters can figure out how it was done to see if it can be replicated
The new hatchers were made to come out so they would be easier and cleaner to paint I beleive

This little guy is adorable, and I can’t quite figure out what colors he is:
Red and brown? Copper and green? Burnt-sienna and umber? Whatever he is, it’s lovely; subdued, but with just enough flash to catch the eye. I think it will have lots of fans, given how excited a certain subset of the Forums gets whenever an earth-toned dragon appears on Ebay!

Who knew hatchers could come out of their eggshells? I’d never have guessed – I thought they were sculpted all in one piece! Since I’ve always thought the new hatcher looks like he’s driving a little bumper car, now I’m picturing him getting out of one that broke down and climbing into a new one to speed away! 😀

Wow, these are beautiful! Both the sculpt – this is my first experience with it – and the color-shift editions specifically!
I could not restrain myself, thus I bought two: Cyan/Purple & Green/Silver.
I absolutely love them both, but I’m just enraptured by the Green/Silver in particular! At certain angles there’s a lovely golden gleam to his raised points… but from other angles there’s this smoky pewter-black tone to his flatter planes, and that’s what I am so enamored of. (You can see a bit of this in the last photo; it’s very hard to capture!)
I now need All Of The Things in Silver/Green!
Sitting Red Foxes, pretty pretty please? Maybe for St. Patrick’s Day?The other thing I love about them is how they shine – they cast so much reflected light back! You can see in the photos how they each throw a shimmering ‘shadow’ of green or purple onto my basic black bookcase, which is not very shiny!

Anyone know how long UPS Ground usually takes to ship? (Corvallis to ~midwest US, nothing too far or too tricky!)
I ordered my cougars on the 15th, and chose the UPS Ground option; I thought they’d be here by now, but I may be misremembering the estimated travel time (it says it next to each option when you choose one, but doesn’t say it on the invoice or on the order form under My Account -> Order History) and there’s no tracking number.
The 15th was a Friday, so I didn’t expect the order to go out till the 18th, but I thought UPS Ground’s estimated time was 2-3 days, so it ought to have arrived yesterday or today…?
I’m in Colorado, and it pretty consistently takes 4 business days (UPS doesn’t deliver on weekends unless you pay them to) once the item has been shipped.
Still no cougars. 🙁 If they’re not here by tomorrow, I’ll contact Windstone and see if they have a way to track the package from their end.
