Can 2022 stop already?
My husband’s grandfather (Pawpaw) has been on a ventilator since last week. He went into the hospital for some work on his pacemaker, ended up needing dialysis as well and was even on a feeding tube for a bit. They are supposed to be taking him off the ventilator today.
We don’t have as many details of his progress last week because my mother-in-law, his daughter, was in a near head-on collision the Friday before and has been stuck at home due to five broken ribs and a broken ankle. She’s lucky that the girl who hit her didn’t kill her. The girl was too busy sending snapchats (confirmed in the police report) to pay attention to the US highway she was on (mother-in-law was at a stop sign waiting to cross).
They aren’t expecting Pawpaw to live very long once he’s off the ventilator. His wife, Mawmaw, hasn’t been in the best health so it’s expected that she won’t live too long after Pawpaw passes. They are both 88 and have been married 68 years.
My husband is starting to have flashbacks to 2007 when he lost his Gramps (father’s father) in January, Granny (father’s mother) in March, and father in October.
Snow flurries throughout most of Alabama today, even down in Opp where I am. Nothing stuck and I didn’t actually see the flurries, but my husband did. Brrr! Hope everyone stays warm.
I’d like to enter as well.
Happy Birthday November. My oldest turns 17(!) today.
I had some severe chest pain Saturday night and again Sunday night. Sunday was worse and based on family history of heart attacks my husband and I decided better safe than sorry and headed to the local ER. After an overnight hospital stay, three EKGs, and several blood tests, come to find out it was just high blood pressure. I’m on medication now and have a new patient/follow up in two weeks. I wouldn’t wish that pain I had on anyone – to me it was almost as bad as childbirth (one of my three was natural, had epidurals with the other two).
*Blows dust off thread* Whew! Has it really been that long since I posted something in here. *LOL* I guess it has. Right now I’m looking for some advice/tips for two PYOs that I plan on working on here shortly. I plan on painting a pair of short hair cats as memorials for my sister-in-law’s snowshoe and orange tabby.
And any tips for painting orange tabby stripes would be appreciated. I’ve never had much luck when it comes to stripes. I at least have plenty of pictures of him as a young adult (as well as old man status) because we lived together for a year while she an my brother were engaged so I have lots of him, plus she had lots of him in her FB photos.
I have a picture of the snowshoe as a kitten and adult. Should I start with making it look close to the kitten and then darken up the coat to match the adult? The snowshoe was gotten after she and my brother were married so I only got to see her when visiting. I wish I had more pictures of her as an adult, but she was always skittish by that point so I never got a picture of her so I had dive through my SIL’s FB pictures looking for some of her.
July 15, 2021 at 11:44 am in reply to: GB Standing Hippogriff Discussion and Show Off Thread #1644393A few more hours…I have to keep telling myself I only have to put up with our current ISP for just a little longer. When we signed with them spring 2019 everything worked fine. During the pandemic, the owner sold to somebody else and it has gone downhill ever since. Our speed may have been slow, but at least it was consistent. Now it isn’t even that. It’s affecting my work and the park’s front office. My husband is hoping that losing the personal account will be a wakeup call and the guy will pay attention and find what is wrong with the park’s internet as well or he could lose that account as well.
Our new provider will be here this afternoon to set things up and I can’t wait!
Happy birthday!
Things stayed quiet in south central Alabama. I know there was at least one tornado that caused damage earlier yesterday afternoon in an area north of me by about 100 miles.
Uggg! Daylight Savings Time
I’d like to enter as well.
February 20, 2021 at 12:04 pm in reply to: GB Safari & Giraffe Baby Pegasus Show Off Thread! 2/5/21 #1637272Then there were three ocelots – #6, #8, & #13. If you look at the black spots on the wing of the one Linda has at the base of the wing it matches exactly with #6. The one Aggie had that went Laramie would be #13. That leaves 8 as yet to be seen.
February 20, 2021 at 10:58 am in reply to: What are your squeaks? Tell Melody here!! (part 2) #1637264Squeak Squeak! For natural horse baby pegs for those who really wanted them! I don’t collect them, but want to help Squeak for others. The appy that showed was painted just beautifully.
Thank you! Speaking as a squeaker for a natural baby Pegasus grab bag, we appreciate the help. 🙂
I appreciate the squeak as well. I’ve not be able to tempt the person who got my favorite into trading yet, so it looks like my only chance of getting one like it is if there is a natural horse batch and hope that there’s another grey dapple in it.
