It looks like 97 might have been traded back in, as it is now showing on the available photo. I thought I remembered that one being on someone’s wanted list…? Pretty one.

Edit: From Jennifer’s post on another thread it looks like she might have given 97 back and is instead waiting for a 50 to be painted.

I’m waiting for two more yet to be painted, but this is the little girl I got first time around. Although she was my 4th choice and I haven’t noticed anyone mention her in the forum, the more I look at her the more I just love her to bits! I’m a big fan of pink/purple/blue, and she’s just so striking and well thought out. I will treasure her so much when she gets here!

So I found this while trying to figure out how to submit a trouble ticket with kickstarter for my stupid button still not working. Seems like this info might be helpful if it actually works during the kickstarter. Please see attached screenshot. I didnt insert it so that I didnt make a huge post.

Oh cool. You might email/message that directly to Melody if you haven’t already. Nice detective work.

Sorry, I disagree with your statement that we are in a better position than with a grab bag. In that case, lots of people are open to trade/sale since it’s just a blind grab. In this case, people who were given their faves are quite unlikely to trade.

Hmm. I wouldn’t think many people would have been able to get their second choice, as you did, out of 170 possibilities if it were a blind grab bag situation. But I definitely shouldn’t have made that a statement; it was more of a hopeful opinion, and I should be careful not to speak for anyone else.

I do wonder who ended up with your top choice, 115. It seems to have been a very popular one. I really liked 116 and hope he’s headed somewhere nice… I saw a several mentions of him too, but 115 seems to have been loved by even more people.

I’m curious who the 4 people are (at one point there were 10) who picked the “Mystery Dragon” pledge tier… it’s only $10 less than a choose your own, and since so many people did pledge at the choose your own level, any dragon that one of those folks thought was attractive will likely have been claimed by time the rest are shipped out at the end of the campaign… interesting choice.

The KS total has gone DOWN since yesterday. How much must that hurt the heart when a team has worked so hard, when there is a history of going beyond typical service, no matter how many years in the business. Virtual top shelf NY wines for you, Windstone.

True. That said, I want to thank them all again very much for going the route of letting backers pick out individual pieces. Without that I wouldn’t have participated at all; too much much money for me to take a random chance on color.

Even those who backed early and currently have no dragons (message glitch, message somehow not seen, message pushed back, someone else claimed their choices, etc.) are in a better position than they would have been with a blind grab bag campaign since there will be more pieces to pick from soon.

Thank you Melody & team for the individual color choice option that – one way or another – was bound to be much more headache than a random grab bag!

Huh… I was sure I saw a timestamp on my sent KS message yesterday that said 3 min after the hour (no seconds). It would be awful if Kickstarter showed the time a message was sent as long as it was sent on the current day, and after that day showed only the past date without the time. They really were not built for message timing mattering. Someone who has sent or received a KS message today may be able to confirm.

In the KS text Melody says she will go by the order in which the messages were received (doesn’t explicitly mention a timestamp). Doing so via KS inbox would not be possible in the case when a backer sends any other message later; that causes the newer message to get grouped with any previous messages, and pushes the whole message group to the time that the most recent message was sent, losing that earlier place in line.

Even if the Windstone team looked through groups of multiple messages in KS to try and fit the earliest one back in the queue, because the times never show seconds, it would be impossible to know where to fit a message in with the other messages marked with the same minute. Minutes probably don’t matter much in KS’s day to day pledging activity, but when you have ~80 people pledging in the first 3 minutes and order matters, KS just doesn’t give us or Melody enough time-based information to piece that correct order together. And today, none of the messages from yesterday will be showing minutes anyway.

As we’ve come to suspect, it sounds like the only way to be sure you have the true pledge order (according to KS info only), would be to go by backer number.

That said, it should be possible to go through KS messages received via the email account that is linked to the campaign, and to look at timestamps from there. Even if that were done (which it seems it wasn’t), we already have backer numbers, which bypass any delays or technical difficulties that people may have had with messaging.

(Wish I could delete a post I no longer need… like this one.) 🙂

You’re right, they probably can’t take back messages telling people they won dragons (though arguably this would be a fair thing to do… can we vote? Heh). Having fulfillment from here on out be in order of backer number would be a very small compensation for those who were most prepared and had the system fail them, but at least it would allow things to go smoother and fairer moving forward.

If for the newly painted ones it is first-messaged first-served, I will try to get my picks in right away, since I still need to pick out two dragons. But I’m backer 55, and I think that anyone who pledged before me should get their pick – with no rush on time – before I do.

Based on suggestions in this thread, these are my thoughts on a possible path forward after the resolution of initial KS message requests:

    1. Windstone team gets a list of backers in order of backer number (hopefully this is easy to do through KS).

    2. Sometime this next week, pictures of still-available first batch dragons and additional newly painted dragons are posted.

    3. Backers who haven’t had their choose-your-own orders fulfilled (whether all their choices were gone, whether they got 1 but ordered more, whether they were waiting for more to be painted in colors they liked, whatever), have some amount of time to submit new requests: for existing dragons, new dragons, a combination, whatever. If they are unable to submit requests via KS, perhaps emails to Melody’s gmail account or some other method of contact would be fine too. Regardless, order of requests received does not matter.

    4. Once a set amount of time has passed and these requests have been received, the Windstone team addresses them in order of backer number until they have all been resolved.

    5. Possibly rinse and repeat with dragons remaining after that secondary round and with any additional that have been painted in the meantime, for backers who still haven’t had all their choose-your-own dragons fulfilled (whether the ones they wanted were claimed by earlier backers, or they were waiting for others to be painted, etc).

    Thoughts?

How many previously rules have already been broken though? Filling orders by, time stamp, waiting until the kickstarter begins to send your picks, claiming dragons by kickstarter message only (someone told me they claimed dragons by Facebook messages when they’re contact button wasn’t working)
You think people aren’t going to beg to swap from new batches, especially if they didnt get their top choice? I have no faith in that rule not being bent and broken for select people.
Im not trying to be a jerk but I cannot express how upsetting it is to spend hours watching the livestream, pick all your dragons and back ups, be super prepared, follow the rules, get your stuff done and sent in 30 seconds, feel confident and find out it was for nothing. Not only that buy find out other who were far later down the que got their picks and you never got messaged and then wake up the next morning to an update almost everything is claimed. It’s just very frustrating.
I even investigated this message system prior with Ela_Hara to make sure folks had a more seamless experience claiming dragons because the inital directions were incorrect. I’m just over here like… why did I even try.

Even in all the craziness, your case seems odd. While I get how, unfortunately, folks who sent a second message at some point (e.g. to try and help someone else who couldn’t message) may have gotten pushed down in the message queue and windstone staff didn’t realize that until it was too late, it sounds like you flew through everything in the first minute, which got you an early backer number and should have made your message one of the very first to come through.

I refreshed the KS page constantly and pledged as soon as I saw it was live. I pasted a pre-written message into Contact me and sent it as soon as I could (2-3 min after the hour). My backer confirmation email from KS is timestamped 1 minute after the hour, and I am backer 55.

I heard yesterday evening that I had gotten 1 of my top 5 choices (I bought 3), and I’d had a feeling she would probably be the least popular of my picks. My message was fairly complicated (these 3, or if not, fill in with these 2, or if not, I’ll wait for similar painted ones of these, or if not, this list of alternates), so I wouldn’t imagine that a complicated or lengthy message would have been set aside for later.

I hope you hear back soon, and I hope the news is good.

Heard back via KS message! Bought 3 dragons, got 1 of my top 5 choices (totally love her!), and Melody said she’ll be painting others similar to 2 of my other top choices (simple colors) during the campaign.

Kudos to whoever claimed #116 first, love that little guy so much and hope he has a wonderful home! At least I can be sure he’ll have a faster internet connection than me when he arrives at his new owner’s place! ‘=D

Wow – that was all confusing! I got into the project seconds after it went live, but wasn’t able to get a message thru until 2 minutes later. I think it went through, but have no idea if it really worked! LOL Yowzers! ! Some people commented that they got a confirmation on their choice. Really? How? Email from the Kickstarter? I got a confirmation that I was a Backer but that is all.

Your KS messages screen will probably show your “Inbox” by default, but you can click the dropdown and select “Sent” to view messages that you have sent. I’ve gone back and checked this like 3 times to make sure my message actually did go through, because I haven’t heard back yet, and am apparently quite impatient, lol.

in reply to: The Bantam dragon Kickstarter #1607787

That’s why I also think it’s more fair to go by backer number for those who may have messaged earlier then they were supposed to. We were all directed to back first and then message so.. backer number would in essence still be a sort of timestamp with more legitimate accountability in my opinion. Anyway, I messaged Melody to let her know that some of our strings with multiple messages may have been negatively effected and she just responded so she is aware. We will leave the sorting out to her whatever way she sees fit. I told her looking at her email notifications may be easier since that should have the individual message notifications from Kickstarter.

    Good points

I haven’t heard back either and I sent my question at 2:00 on the nose. I even sent it again after I updated my pledge amount, same thing, word for word, still 2:00 pm. I just didn’t know if one was connected to the pledge or another so I wanted to be sure.

EDIT: but then again I sent my message regarding Tig3r’s claim almost 10 minutes later so that may have bumped my entire string WAY down the que line.

Hmm. People would have been able to send a message right before the KS went live and before they had actually backed… but… no one would do that, right? Maybe the people who have heard back so far are ones where their message needed some clarification, and those of us who haven’t, they just didn’t have any questions for us? I don’t know.

Ok, I’m getting away from my computer for a while!
