Kickstarter is not really the right platform for this type of OOAK grab bag/u-pick. They work better when reward tiers are well-defined with strictly pre-planned items for sale, with stretch goals that can entice more people to spend for more intricate bonus items to become available.
I regularly participate in a clusterflap similar to this every two months, not on Kickstarter, with 300+ people (more than Windstone’s KS) vying for ten to fifteen of a thing. That place ended up using a lottery system so their servers don’t crash on opening day. They collect names for several days ahead of opening, then run the lottery on opening day.

My question is: Does the KS creator get a list of who the backers are in numerical order?
I wonder about that, since KS doesn’t seem to keep track of what tiers each person pledges, as they pledge it. It relies on a survey to be filled out at the end. This lack of tracking on KS’s part still seems bizarre to me. The backers get an email with a backer number, but does a list get compiled and sent to the creator? Backer number order will only work if the creator knows who is what number.

I shouldn’t have opened my mouth about backer number. I didn’t know KS did that until someone else said they had a number so I was surprised. Ground rules shouldn’t be changed after “the competition” begins, regarding going by message time stamp for this KS. Next time it could be by backer number, and then people can message at their leisure.

If Kickstarter assigns backer numbers to people as they finish their pledge, why can’t that be used as the order, instead of message time stamps?

Neat to watch, isn’t it? I got my request in (hopefully correctly, I did read the instructions) and would like to add a magnet after a bit, when I can find out how without messing up my current order.
I notice the duration has been shortened to 2 weeks, to end on the 18th. Not sure if this will matter to anyone who may be desperately hanging on to or counting on future funds to pay for it.
Ohhh? It’s not running for one month? That’s a big difference.
With the first Kickstarter, I was able to amend my original pledge to add more beans. There was a link somewhere that asked if you wanted to change the amount, and I had no issues doing so. I may have even amended it twice.
Okay, so after you pledge, if you revisit Melody’s KS page, and hover over the right sidebar where it says you pledged X tier (I am using a laptop), it changes color and asks if you want to “manage your pledge.” You can change the amount there.

That would be pretty awesome if so.
Not at first but she did make that comment today in this thread. I doubt perfect replicas could be done for most of the bantams already painted. They are so intricately painted.
