This is the first I heard about it – how does this raffle work? Any different from a regular one? What is the pay it forward element?
I can’t believe they sold out in under 24 hours! Holy Smokey! (One uni amounts to a week’s pay for me, so not something I could really do, you people are either crazy or really well paid! :P).
I’m guessing at prices here, but a $25 PYO versus a $75 LP piece – maybe $110 as a Grab Bag. Which would be more profitable in the long run?
I, myself, would never pay $75 for this size sculpt, and never ever ever $110, no matter how much I like it. I can see $25 for an unpainted one, I’d be thinking maximum $50 for a nicely done LP or Grab.
So I vote PYO. (I am one of those who stopped buying Grab Bags, they just got too expensive to justify).
Update: Just spoke to a Paypal rep, apparently once a claim is escalated to a dispute and the investigation is in Paypal’s hands the comments from the other party become invisible, only the “pre-dispute” comments stay visible. I was told I was guaranteed a refund because of the buyer protection program, but what remains to be seen is if I’ll have to return the item. Hopefully not since then I’ll be stuck with the return fee and nothing to show for it…
If you have to return the item, THE SELLER PAYS THE RETURN SHIPPING. I’ve never had to go through this process, but from what I understand, the seller has to pay for and then send you a return shipping label. Someone back me up here? Just make sure you take lots of pictures of the item as you box it up to prove you did your due diligence in case the seller claims the item never arrived or arrived broken.
That is an exquisite little carving!
But then what happens if one trader’s item does not arrive, is stolen, or broken? The sender is automatically out the money? (Assuming they are a legit trader who has proof of shipping).
Two traders each send $200 to the other, and then ship a grab bag baby uni. But one is lost or damaged. The one who received the damaged one, gets their money back? (Say, they open a claim for a damaged item). Since Canada Post does not offer insurance on fragile items (does US Post?), then the sender of the broken uni is out of pocket.
Do we trust recipients to not file a claim for a broken item? Or do we currently expect senders to pay for or replace something damaged in the post?
Are you allowed to trade a raffle prize for something resellable (like GB’s or ebay pieces?) I have a raffle prize I can offer in trade, will pm!
If they keep it Canon, then women ride only green and gold dragons. (Great big period, according to Anne.) However, with Todd being more about the money than the love of the series, he’ll probably allow them to do whatever they want in the movie.
I ride a lovely emerald green, Fidrith. However, in my dreams, I am usually paired with a brown named Coreanth. Funny part is, even when I Impressed him, I took one look and said “But I can’t take a brown!” Answer was, “Dragon’s choice!” In all my sleeping dreams, he’s a brown. In my daydreams, though, she’s a green. A fun, quick, spunky little green. Flies circles around the bronzes, but gets tired quickly. She’s a prancey little tease. 😉
I have had to deal with numerous pest infestations. Goes with being a breeder/rescue/many animal owner. The hardest to get rid of were mites. Fleas were easy by comparison, mites are tougher. Haven’t had to deal with bed bugs directly, but I wouldn’t bother with fumigating. The little buggers like to live in and our beds, right? Carpets and the like. I would go out, buy some PERMETHRIN and treat all the soft surfaces with that. Cheap, easy to get, non toxic to humans (keep away from cats and anything cold blooded), and has a 15 day residual effect. Easily available in Raid spray (get the red can, don’t confuse Permethrin with Pyrethrin, Permethrin is stronger). Hard surfaces don’t usually appeal to bugs as a living space, but Lysol would probably do the job. Bedding I would launder, then spray, and repeat every day/couple of days until the problem is resolved.
Wow. That is pretty shocking – because my dog, a 10 month old puppy, behaves in pretty much the exact same way. If a stranger approaches the property, she goes into ‘protect!’ mode with hackles and barking… and then runs when they approach. Until I show up, and then she turns into a happy little idiot who pees with joy at being petted. >.< She's a bernese Rottweiler cross, so she is a bit confused at times (the berner in her says 'be goofy' and the rottie says 'be protective' so it is strange watching the switches go back and forth…). So it is hardly a scary behavior for a dog to act like that – protect as a first response, and then run when confronted.
And seriously. Any dog will kill a duck or small animal if it hasn't been taught not to. That's just an unfortunate side of dogs. =/ And it is always possible that the duck was already dead and the dog was just playing with it. Dog probably got all excited over the new 'toy' and then ran after the boy trying to play! So much in this story is just… it's like people are prejudging the dog because it is a shepherd!
If even something as simple as a RUMOR gets them to release the rest of the Gargoyles seasons on DVD, I will shed a happy tear and need a defibulator. I will be very cautiously optimistic, and hope to not be disappointed, but all I can envision is something along the lines of Warriors of Virtue. *shudder*
That Autumn Harvest mouse is adorable! I would love to have one of those!
Is…
GOT HAMSTERS!
CONGRATULATIONS!Whoa – wait – is that me? Kiera(and a bit) at Hotmail.com?
I’m not letting myself get overly excited in case it is someone else…. and failing.

This is a recast. A good one at that, but still a recast. At least I am 99% sure it is. The eyes are painted which is a tell tale sign. Usually the people who make these are smart enough to alter the logo enough so it doesn’t say PENA right on it (hence they wouldn’t get in as much trouble for a direct recast). Which is why I say be careful and look at what you’re buying! They may have even been smart ehough to put real jewels in, it’s hard to tell. As far as knock offs go, it’s a well done one.
Also, not saying the seller made thisor intentionally is selling knowing it’s a knock off, it’s possible they don’t even know it’s a fake.
It’s a recast! I have the exact same one – they were sold in large numbers in a store called “San Francisco” in the mid to late 1990’s. I got mine in 1997. They were about $8 in the store. You will know they are a fake, the texture is wrong and there are bubbles in the surface. And the eyes are painted on, when the casts were made they cast over the eyes.
