I was looking for terrarium backgrounds to spruce up my snakes’ enclosures, when, much to my surprise, I found what is clearly a Windstone hyena gargoyle in the middle of this one. This seems like a clear case of infringement to me, so I sent an email to John about it.
It’s a pretty cool looking terrarium background, but you can’t just steal pictures of other people’s designs and sell them! They should have made their own lava-drooling gargoyle.
Yay, more snekkerdoodles! 😛 You have beautiful ball pythons, KingBeast. It’s good to see another snake keeper on the forum.
I have acquired a couple more snakes since my last post, but I figured it’s been a while, so I will post a pic of each of my snakes.
This is Namira, a 2 year old common boa, 4′ long. She’s an absolute sweetheart, easily the gentlest of my snakes. She does everything slowly and thoughtfully.
This is Tiberius, a 10 month old half dwarf burmese python, 37″ long. He’s my “lap snake”, in that he will usually curl up in my lap and be content to just hang out when I take him out of his enclosure.
This is my newest acquisition, Ridley the 20 month old super dwarf reticulated python, 7’6″ long. We’re still in the getting to know each other phase, so I’m working on building trust with him during handling sessions.
And last but not least, my tiny girl, Rowan the 11 month old common boa, 28″ long. She’s such a cutie, and likes to watch everything that goes on, with her head always poked out of one hide or another.
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Snakes are such misunderstood animals, it’s great to be able to share them with people who appreciate them. Tiberius readily ate a meal last night, so it seems that he is settling nicely into his new home.
Angelika Zen, that’s such a pretty little corn/milk/king snake you found! I’ve only ever found a few wild garter snakes and some kind of water snake in my area. Regarding snakes as pets, they’re actually super low maintenance. My boa and python only eat once a week, and that will get even less frequent as they get older. The only things that need frequent upkeep are refilling their water bowls and misting their enclosures, which I do every other day. The tricky part of snake keeping is getting their enclosure set up properly to begin with, ensuring that you have the right temperature zones for your specific species. But once you have the heat source(s) set up with a thermostat, they regulate themselves. Easy!
Suzanne-Marie, that’s sounds like such a great experience with Charlie. Having pets is wonderful, but there is something even more special about having a friendship with a truly wild animal that can leave at any time, but chooses to visit you.
I got another scale-baby! Meet Tiberius, a 7 month old half dwarf Burmese python. He’s cute as a button, but very skittish (he hasn’t learned yet that humans are not big scary predators trying to eat him). I’m going to enjoy working with him to get him nice and tame. He’s going to be a big boy when he grows up!
February 20, 2020 at 5:49 am in reply to: So, what’s next on the schedule? (Part 4 NEW for 2020) #1604643Trainwreck has been my favorite so far as well. Please me more Melody <3
… and this scheme would be to DIE for on an Emperor or an Old Warrior! Lol, just sayin’Oh man, a trainwreck emperor would be WILD! I don’t normally go in for bright colours like trainwreck, but I would make an exception for this. I think this colour scheme would work best with near-black eyes, like many of the hoppy poads have.
Bodine, your fish are so pretty! And Kim, your black and white guinea pig has such long hair, she reminds me of a shih-tzu, lol.
I have to admit, I am intimidated by large parrots like Berd though. They are beautiful, but that beak gives me pause.
Whoa! My inbox exploded with messages after posting my ponycorns, so I’ll just say here that the blue merle ponycorn has been traded and I am currently looking at the offers for the silver bi-eyed giraffe. If you have sent me a message, I am considering your offer, just give me some time to get back to you.
I finally got my ponycorns, and they are everything a grab bag promises and more! I got one of my gold star favourites, another that I will definitely trade, and one surprise. I’ll start with the safari, which is an awesome jaguar that I am definitely keeping. I am super happy with this one.
Next is a silver giraffe, which I plan to trade. Its most interesting feature is its bi-coloured eyes; pewter on the right and blue on the left.
And lastly, the everything bagel… which is not an everything bagel! Surprise! It seems one of the stragglers got mislabeled, so I ended up with a second safari, in this case a blue merle Australian shepherd. I like this one and would be happy to keep it, but I would consider trading for others I like more.
Wow, Jen, that is quite the menagerie of birds! Some pets have such long lifespans that they really are like children in a way. And your chickens are adorable.
Ooh, Etruscan, you got one of my favourite everything bagels. And the spotted zebra and clouded leopard are fantastic. According my order tracking number, my ponycorns should be delivered today or (more likely) tomorrow. Oh, the suspense!
Thanks, everyone. It’s amazing to think that she will reach 5-6 feet in length as an adult when she is so little now as a 4 month old.
Wow, I don’t check the website for a couple days and the Classifieds and this thread blew up!
Ferlin1984, I love your ziger, and Tig3r06, your quagga is beautiful. Those are some of my favourites. I don’t have anything to trade yet though; my ponycorns are making their way slowly across the border to me. Being patient is hard!
January 23, 2020 at 6:16 am in reply to: So, what’s next on the schedule? (Part 4 NEW for 2020) #1600449I will echo what Whisker Hunter West said about Backer Kit being a useful tool that works with Kickstarter after the funding period ends. It basically allows the KS maker to create a store page where people can specify all the rewards they want by adding them to their pledge/order. I saw it used in an action figure KS that had around 60 rewards to choose from, and it kept everything organized like a store order. I’m not sure how to make that work with OOAK pieces, but for reward categories like “pastels” and “earth tones”, it would work great.
There are so many different designs that appeal to me, my odds of receiving ponycorns I love should be pretty high. In particular, I realized after making my picks that there are only 2 everything bagels that I don’t like! My top picks are listed in this classified ad. Now to wait impatiently for delivery to Ontario, Canada.
