The Ebay market pretty much went through the roof when Windstone first went online and established the forums! That went especially for retired pieces. When test paints and auctions straight from Windstone started, prices were very high, and I like to think those sales helped Windstone fund the big jump to Oregon! But an Old Green dragon commanding several times its purchase price today? Probably not happening, at least not right now.
I think this is due to a number of factors, one being that with the expansion in the range of production colors, pieces, and OOAK Ebay pieces, people have more room to be choosy about their must-have pieces whether they are fresh from the factory or long-retired. Second, a lot of longtime collectors already have their shelves full when it comes to production pieces, and won’t continually purchase older sculpts and colors to keep boosting their secondhand prices. Third, with Windstones being both collectibles and art pieces, a lot of collectors purchase not just for personal enjoyment but with the hope that their pieces will accrue value over time. Like any investment that doesn’t always happen, but if offered the choice between a OOAK piece and a production piece, I think people will choose the OOAK/signed/LP partially for their rarity. The big exceptions to this might be Red Fire and darker-colored Ruby pieces, maybe…

I’m way overdue to post pictures, but it’s been a busy week! I have to thank Susie for sending a straggler my way. And of course a huge thanks to Melody; I’m loving the detail and whimsy in this batch, and my uni is no exception!
I am beyond charmed by her hidden cat, outlined in white with a tiny gold eye! She has a heart under her chin too. After a while pondering what I’m going to call her, I’ve settled on ‘Matchstick’. She looks like she’s part gas flame, part lava flow!

Beautiful unicorn Lupuslunae! She looks like she could get a little witch’s hat and broom for a Halloween costume 😀 Those eyes and her black muzzle make her look like she has a very calm expression even with all of those bright colors.
Thanks for the pictures everyone, the detail on these is really great to see up close.

Hello! After trying to post a new Classifieds ad a couple of days ago, I also received an ‘e-mail verification’ message. I have not received any e-mail with a verification link, and can find no trace of the ad in the deactivated section or anywhere else. If it’s waiting for approval somewhere, any way to get it posted?
I’ve posted several ads with no problems, but then on the last one got the e-mail verification message. Do some ads just get randomly flagged for verification or is there something about the ad itself that requires the extra step?
Many thanks for the help!

Drat, looks like I missed out. I stayed late at work to wish a co-worker farewell on his last day, caught the notification e-mail late, and stalked the shop until they just went out of stock.
If anyone doesn’t love theirs upon receipt, and wants to trade or sell, please let me know! That zebra with the gold ginkgo leaves looks to be my favorite at the moment, so I hate to say it but I hope she’s not someone else’s cup of tea! 😀 Congrats to everyone who got in on the release, and I’m looking forward to seeing pictures!

Kittens! I hope they’re all able to find good, loving homes. I’ve been dealing with stray cat drama for a while myself. A young female showed up in our neighborhood not long after we moved into our rented house here. She’s not feral but is extremely shy, staying just out of arm’s reach. It’s taken me years to get to the point where she’ll sniff my hand before I put food down for her. She’s had two litters, the first of which saw all of the kittens caught and taken into our county shelter. Her most recent litter was two, one of which we’ve caught and taken to the shelter, but the other is still with her. Now that the kitten is weaned, I fear Mama is pregnant again.
We’ve had a trap loaned to us from the county shelter, and put it out intermittently on the days when we’d be able to keep an eye on the trap. But Mama seems to know her way around traps, and although she and her kitten will wolf down food on trap-less days, they’re nowhere to be seen when the trap is present in their normal feeding spot. Frustrating! I’ve hoped to adopt Mama myself, despite my husband’s firmness on our one-cat-at-a-time current household. We’ll see – I’ve got to catch her first!
LupusLunae, you’re wonderful for helping to spay, neuter, and foster so many kitties! All that cute looks contagious 🙂

Beautiful piece! That gray-purple shades together so nicely. I’m also incredibly jealous of your workspace 🙂 I have a nice work table somewhere, underneath a mass of half-finished projects and supplies!

My little pony 😉 is here! It’s a red (or bay?) roan with a lovely red face and tail, and some cute little fleabites too. The hooves have this little white ring around the top, nice detail! In the class photos, it’s second down from the top left in photo #4.
Charming as he is, he’s not in my list of favorites, so he’ll be up for trade! Thanks Melody, this sculpt is really realistic for the simplified form that the pebble critters share, and the shading and detail in the paint just add to that 🙂

Ten years, I don’t believe it! Although looking at how my collection grew exponentially after joining the forums, I guess I should 😀

Some of mine have names, and some don’t. The ones that don’t are mostly newer pieces or PYOs that haven’t been painted yet. I refer to the GB young unis, my test paint, and raffle piece by the names Melody gave them. The ones I’ve named myself are a mix of whimsical or fantasy names, and ‘natural’ names. I have a bunch of pieces named after minerals or places 🙂

I could go too far with the geology thing and suggest “Equine Eskers”, hehe!
The sculpt looks draft horse-y to me, so what about Pebble Drafts? (if that doesn’t make them sound like a work in progress…)

May 26, 2016 at 2:43 am in reply to: Another breakage brought to you by: Ebay International Shipping Program (orange-eyed Emerald dragon) #948538Great job with the repair! I see those cracks on a few of my pieces too, I do believe it’s very light crazing and is present in the clearcoat of the pieces. I haven’t done anything to try and remedy it because I’m too worried I would mess it up 😀
