Oh man, everyone has such big collections! I’m very much envious!
I got a picture of all the pieces I own while I was getting pictures for the repairs section:
Haha, yup, that’s all! They were all gifts too. (Photobucket seems to be taking a while to resize pictures today, sorry if the pic is still too large).
Maybe I can save up enough with the extra summer commissions to buy one more once my birthday rolls around.
These guys are Great! The Young Rainbow is a bit hard to find and your unicorns look to be in really good shape. I’m a sucker for the baby kirins, so good for you!
You are ahead of where I started – I had a Young Peacock and a Peacock Small Wizard for years before I was able to get a bigger collection. Take your time and enjoy the collecting. There’s something really sweet about opening a box and in it is a new treasure.

Yes, they look champagny to me too, but it could also be a bad photo. Some of the colour reproductions on ebay are pretty bad. Good price for the coiled mom, though.

Love it!

Red Fox, Grey Wolf, Artic Fox or Wolf, Silver Sparkle Fox or Wolf. Hmmm.. I guess I’m pretty open to the any colour scheme!
My request is – Melody, please put some more in the store, whatever colour you feel like painting! They are all great!

I hate leaving my pieces setting out to get dust on them. It feels like I am depreciating an investment. Recently I added a couple of empty aquariums. Sometimes you can get a fairly good sized aquarium or an odd sized one on sale for a reasonable price. I talked to Jennifer about this a while ago and she said that there are even certain bulbs that can go into the hoods that would be o.k. to use as display lighting. The ones that mimic UV rays wouldn’t be a good choice as they could cause fading.
The other cool thing about this (I am thinking of some of you artists out there) is that you can also put a painting or scene behind your collection. I am lucky because I have an artist in the family who can paint me what I want. You could cut down a scenic poster, anything you can imagine.
I started doing this a few years back to keep the dust off some of my fairies (some of them had rooted hair – so dust is really an issue). It was too fun to create a little environment for them with silk plants and stuff. I even raised some areas in the back of the aquarium with little boxes and then covered the whole bottom with green cloth. This made it look like there were little hills. I could display things on different levels and tiny stuff in the back would not get blocked by the items in front.
Windstone Wench that’s the greatest idea! I have a pretty full barrister’s bookcase now and will probably have to get another at the rate I’m going! But the aquariums would work so I could get the kids into other rooms!

Oh Drag0n, I am so sorry for the loss of your Snickers baby. I’ve been there. There is so much to say, but it’s not coming out right here. I’m crying with you.

I’m trying to vote, but every time I click on the vote button it jumps to a number I don’t want (sorry to whoever’s pic that is). Is there any other way we can record the votes?

They are all beautiful! Mine’s coming – maybe mid week (fingers crossed). Melody you are awesome. And probably tired. Thank you for your art.

Oh, Drag0n, I’m so sorry to hear about your baby. But I’m sure something can be done to help. Hang on and get to your regular vet. My thoughts are with you and Snickers.

When I receive a PM from another member and I click on the line on the email how do I get into the messages all I get is a message I am not allowed to access this page? Also how do I get from the Forum to the messages and back to the Forum?
The reason may be that you aren’t logged into your account. If I get an e-mail notification of a PM and I’m not logged in, I get an error message. If I am logged in, then the link takes me to my messages without difficulty.

Hello Lady,
I’m on the other side of your story – I teach adults. What you are feeling is TOTALLY NORMAL at this point in your education process.
As an adult educator (I teach massage therapy) I understand the tiredness, the frustration, and also the potential excitement that comes when you get near the end of a long programme.
So, I’ll tell you what I have told all my students over the last number of years – Hang in there. You will be fine. You have come all this way, given so much of yourself in time, money, effort, and energy that quitting is not an option.
I know you are tired and feel that you aren’t getting things as quickly as perhaps some others in your class, but trust me when I say this (becaise I see it literally every day) they are struggling, too. Every one of my students has had their own set of challenges and issues. Some of these are more visible than others. But, everyone has them.
If you want to talk some more, feel free to PM anytime.
There is a very calming exercise you can do, it’s called “whole brain posture” and it soes from Neuro Linguistic Programing, a system desgined to assist autistic children in helping them calm and focus. I teach this to all my students and they have all reported that it really helps them.
Here it is
Stand or sit. (When you read the rest of the instructions you can figure out which works better for you).
Cross one ankle over the other (doesn’t matter which one).
Cross one wrist over the other anc clasp your hands together.
If you feel a bit like a pretzel, it’s right.
Hold the posture for a minute or so.
You should begin to feel calmer and more settled.Theres a Youtube video that deonstrates it too:
In a nutshell, it works because the cross-linking of the two body halves engages both sides of the brain. When this occurs, the brain actually functions better.
Again, hang in and PM if you want to.
