December 12, 2016 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Silhouette Young Unicorn 12/09/16 GB Show Off Thread! #1512770
Now…don’t get me wrong, I love the silhouette pieces–and I respect the amount of effort it takes for Melody to craft even one of these beauties–however, I was fairly disappointed when I saw the class photos of this batch. There’s an excessive amount of white and yellow/burnt orange but only a handful of blues and not a single green or red piece. I realize that’s all personal preference and this was a small batch to begin with…but there wasn’t much color variety. _insert sad frowny face_
A week or so ago I was fiddling with ads when I figured out how it bugs out. (At least, how it bugs out in one specific way which may or may not be the same way it does for you.) I did tell Clay about it too so it’s not an unknown at this point.
It has to do with how you edit the ad before publishing it.
After filling out the forms you have a chance to edit. At the top are 3 options: Edit Text, Manage Images, Finish. At the bottom is “Edit Ad” in purple text. Only the buttons at the top are linked to the ad creation process. If you peruse your ad then go to make changes by clicking on Edit Ad at the bottom (instead of scrolling up to use the buttons), you WILL bug out the system. By using Edit Ad, you are essentially trying to alter an ad that HAS NOT YET BEEN CREATED so the system says WTF?!?! when you finally finish it. This prompts the phantom verification email.
I’m assuming that’s what you did–I just made a another test ad in this way and the bug is still there.
I think the silhouette Y unis will be in December. I have finished them but there are only about 30. I was hoping to have some other grab bag items at the same time, but I may not make it. We’ll see what happens.
Ms. Melody…perhaps if you’d like to have other grab bag items available, may I suggest a batch of baby poads in a safari variety? Having caught the “poad craze” and having some safari young poads + tadpoads, I’d love to find a baby or two to match my clutter (even if it means I need to trade to do it! >_<). And–I think–there’s only been one hoppy batch of baby poads as a grab bag?
My instinctive wish is pretty simple and shallow. Namely, win the lottery on a sizeable pot. (Money fixes everything, right?)
In all sincerity though…
–enough money to clear my family’s debt, allow us to move out of state, fix my car, and pay for both my mom’s knee surgery and our dog’s dental surgery
–the copper and turquoise tiger young unicorn from the last grab bag batch
–a special test paint kirin family, or conversely a piece or two from my Most Wanted test paint list
–a PYO (oriental dragon? phoenix? hippocampus?) painted just for me by Melody (the longest shot of long shots, but maybe one day eh? lol)
–a new job with competetive pay, preferably in a field I won’t hate
–to travel! ideally to Japan…
–have a quaint cottage-style house in the country for me and my fianceReally, though, I’d just be happy to have all my financial woes settled so it wouldn’t be a daily stress-fest. Anything else is a bonus.
That is drop dead GORGEOUS!!!! Ms.Melody,Hearth Dragons like this!!
^This, absolutely. Out of the autumn leaf mother dragons so far, I’ve been drawn more towards the ones with heavier green tones as opposed to the purple/red; however, this autumn warrior blows them all away. He’s phenomenal and I’d love to see a reiteration of this on laps or hearth dragons.
I’m not usually thrilled about pebbles, but the gold-silver rainbow appaloosas are absolutely beautiful. I’m in the same boat as Landipan though so…I suppose I just get to live vicariously. ^_^
What artist is that? That mug is phenomenal! (And who doesn’t like the opportunity on occasion to relax with a nice, TALL stiff drink, eh?)

For posting in a topic, just use the IMG button above the text box. Click on it, it’ll prompt you to put in the web address for the picture (i.e., right click, “copy link location” on the photo from whichever host site you use); hit “okay” and you can put in a description (this is optional). Don’t click the box beneath the description line or you won’t be able to post more than one picture!
For the classifieds, once you complete the text portion of the ad and hit “next”, you have an option to upload up to 6 pictures from your computer. You don’t need a host site for the classifieds anymore, as far as I know.
Awwww, Laurie left?! I loved seeing her checkered pieces! I’d imagine it takes a lot of effort to keep track of the various colors intermingling as such, especially on those larger sculpts.
Best of luck to her in her future endeavors!
Thanks for the bump Ela Hara. I don’t know how I managed to miss this! Splendidly done!
If it were me I’d be would be very worried that so much time has passed since you’ve heard from the seller with no sign of shipment, heck I’d be worried if a week passed without any info from the seller, but I’m a worry wart mind you lol. If you had used ‘Goods and services’ as a payment option I would totally suggest asking Paypal to refund you your money if the seller wasn’t getting back to you. Unfortunately I don’t how helpful PP would be since you used the ‘friends and family’ option which from what I’ve always heard, doesn’t offer much buyer protection.
Here’s hoping the seller can be found(maybe even try looking for them on Facebook?) and all can be settled with out any stress. Good luck and I hope everything turns out well in the end!
I think a week with no communication is standard panic time, in my humble opinion (unless you know it’s being shipped from overseas which is obviously going to take a lot longer).
It’s very risky using the friends and family option in Paypal. Because they expect you to know and implicitly trust the people with whom you use that option, they don’t offer any safeguards. The lack of safeguards is also meant to be a deterrent to those who are trying to avoid the fees associated with the business ‘goods and services’ option. Long story short, it’s generally safer to go with the business option even if you’ve had no problems with seller before, if only to make sure Paypal will cover you should problems arise (like in this situation).
As for your missing person…I don’t know what to tell you. All I can say is best of luck sorting this situation out, and I hope it goes well for you with minimal hassle.
I was out of town for about 3 weeks with my fiance (it was a welcome break from the drudgery at home!) and even after getting back it took me a few days to sort through the mail, sink into the old daily regimen, and find an opportunity to take photos.
I was pleasantly surprised with this grab. Out of all the silhouette poads, the one that initially caught my eye (aside from the trio of painted wolves) was this emerald greeny one. I really liked the maroon/burgundy sunset ones that Natasha and Prairie have posted, too, but I’m content! If I had a complaint, it would be that the unicorns feel small but at least they’re gaily frolicking on the front side! I absolutely love the eye color too. It’s so hard to describe it…sort of a metallic grey-green hue…
Here’s my latest project. Pele is not quite finished as of yet; she needs touch-ups and clearcoating to be done. I also can’t decide what I want to do about her eye color. It’s not a great photo as my phone’s camera is poop (you lose some of the finer detailing/colors). I’m really happy with how she turned out, even though she won’t be finished soon due to me being out of town for the next three weeks. Next I’m planning to finish another dragon, then have to make the tough decision as to whether to tackle the new pyo oriental or the hippocampus whom came along for the ride.
Woo! Well done! I love the mirroring you have to E.A. Poe’s The Raven. (After reading this I was totally recalling James Earl Jones’ narration of The Raven from The Simpsons Halloween episode…)
