Because I had an entire week to fidget and wonder and maaayybe obsess just a little about what dragon would be arriving at my doorstep, I’ve been tracking the loaf dragons posted to the forum and the classifieds.  It’s kind of like playing a “spot the differences” puzzle, but I’m pretty sure I’ve identified all the dragons correctly so far.  As of tonight (3/31), 31 of the 83 dragons shown in the main batch class picture have shown up!

Thanks to Susie, I was able to get in on the shy slowpoke batch.  The one I received has bright red shading to orange and yellow with purple spot accents and abundant metallic gold detailing.  The eyes and jewel are a warm pink.  Second row, third from the right in the overhead class picture.  A friend says her first thought was a phoenix transformed into a dragon.

For color-vs-lighting comparison, here’s an outdoor misty-sunlight shot:

And a couple more glamour shots to let the attitude show off:

Alas, the poor thing just will not work in any my collection schemes, as gorgeous as it is.  I’ll be trying to trade for something that will, and hopefully find this one a more appreciative home.

Argh, sad that I missed out completely on these – I never got the email! If anybody lands the ‘oddballs’ that have black swirls with the turquoise dots along them, or the tiger stripes, and they aren’t completely in love, let me know! Perhaps we can trade…

As was pointed out to me, there’s a post in the Store section about a few sneaky GB pebble loaf dragons (main batch) that hid when the store broke, and Susie is finding homes for.  No idea how many, but worth a try if you were going to buy!

Welp, both batches of the GB pebble dragons were gone before I even got home from work with a chance to order, ha. I can understand why – so cute! So I thought I’d renew my squeak for Silver Rainbow Sparkle pebble dragons – maybe with silver eyes & crystal? Blue eyes & crystal would be my most favorite, but silver or dark grey would continue the neutral color scheme of the SRS paint. I will add a squeak for pebble turtles, of any kind. Also lizards! Turtles for my mother and lizards or frogs for my father are something of a tradition, and I’d love to add a Windstone variation to the game.

Did you see Susie’s post in the Store section about the GB pebble dragons?

Etruscan – Heh, I finally found it.  After I’d raided the store for a pebble fox to soothe the pent-up shopping urge, of course.  Thanks for pointing Susie’s post out to me!

Since they’re pebbles, perching dragon and pondering dragon?

Whatever their names become – so cute!!!

Out of curiosity, have you ever played with the idea of faceted eggs?  Smaller surfaces should hide imperfections more than one large smooth surface, and for stubborn flaws you could possibly file away at a facet and it would still blend with the overall surface.  I have to admit that I think dragons hatching out of gemstone-styled eggs would be a lovely look!  =)

pipsxlch – I hadn’t thought of a painted rocks swap, but that does sound fun.  I might even be able to participate without embarrassing myself too badly – I definitely wouldn’t be able to do a PYO swap justice.  XP

I’m hoping for at least a silver rainbow sparkle production run on the pebble dragons (planning to assemble a full SRS clan, as budget allows).  But a “simple” fancy paint job would be fun – I do love the GB colors, and adore the “feather cloak” patterns particularly.  I just seem to assign “character” to everything, and a critter painted with critters starts a war of personalities in my silly brain, heh.

That is an adorable new sculpt!  Is it sized so the sitting young oriental is comparable to the standing young?  It kind of looks like you could set them facing each other, and they’d be playing together.

I *love* the quillin.  For some reason that particular pose & angle is making me think of a somewhat worried labrador (one of the sturdy, husky versions) watching the sandwich being eaten and promising much retribution if not given their share of the last bite.  That’s just such an intense gaze.  I hope there will be baby / young quillins, too?

And – I know it’s a very silly squeak, and my inner child is wailing that I have grown up into a boring adult, but – grab bag fancy-painted… pebbles? Rocks, crystals, obelisks, pebbles…  Plain things.  For some reason my brain keeps misfiring at critters with “tattoos”, and I swear I heard my plain sparkle Lady Cat snort when I asked her if she’d have liked to be decorated with all the fancy colors and maybe a “hidden kitty” design.  So I can’t see myself going for any of the GB pebble animals.  I think they’re gorgeous!  Just I apparently like my animals “plain” (if shimmer-sparkly).  So I thought – plain rocks with fancy designs!  I love the idea of setting up a pebble critter clan gathered around painted stones/whatnot.  The stones the dragons don’t steal for hoard decorations, at least.

I received my card today, I positively love all the little details!  This is definitely going in the keep-forever card pile.  I had a good laugh that the mascot is having a good celebration too.  Thank you!

I will add a squeak for a pebble kirin, and I’m excited there will be pebble dragons!  The loveable lifelike dragons will always have my heart, but I can find ways to fit a lot more pebbles into small apartment life.  =)
