Thank you! I’m weak to stars and constellation designs, myself. Whoever did that fabulous PYO with the gemstone stars, years ago, it has stayed in the back of my mind ever since; one day if I’m ever rich I’m going to find that person and commission them to make me a griffin like that. 🙂

Aaaah, thank you for the compliments! I do have a few more things lined up from the “I bought this HOW long ago?” pile. 🙂 Currently in progress is a kitsune based on my family’s dog, and then I really need to get cracking on some partially-complete griffins.

Sirius is wonderful – I love the wing tip coloring!
And – I believe I found all the crystals on the Dragon… the Amethyst crystal on his forehead, 3 at each eye (6 total), 3 along the display side belly side scales. 3 on this back behind his display side haunch under the end wing tip, 3 on the back of his non-display side haunch (also under the end wing tip), and 1 on his non-display side belly side scale.
Thank you! I had a sort of Veil-ish interference blue on his wings at first, but decided that Gryffindor colors were called for instead and changed it at the last minute, so it’s encouraging to hear that you like it. 🙂
Re: The crystals on Copper Plum: I think you found them! For anyone else trying to spot them, there are:
3 under left eye
3 under right eye (6 in all)
3 on left hip (9 in all)

Still working on old stuff! This guy has been finished for months; I just couldn’t seem to get a good picture.
His name is Sirius. You can probably guess the reference. 🙂

Sirius is very hard to photograph! He does have subtle grey shading over his fur, but it’s pretty much invisible to cameras. This pic kiiiind of gives you an idea – you can sort of tell that he’s blacker around the constellation, the only area I left unshaded.

I think I bought this PYO shortly after the sculpt came out. (Does anyone know what year that was?) His eyes were glued in when he came, because that’s how PYO ordering worked back then. 🙂 I’m not such a fangirl of the series now, or at least not in the same way, but it’s very satisfying to see him on the shelf with my little HP character figures.

So just a small update. I have 2 more repairs done and shipped back to the owner. (A Lap and a Pebble Fox) but I didn’t even take before and after pics. I literally have so many repair pictures on my phone I don’t even bother anymore unless they’re very extensive. If the owner wants to share pics when they arrive then by all means, please feel free to post.

Or something similar?Oh, I really hope there’s a division with just cool colors! I’d be so much more likely to get one I want to keep if I could rule out the rainbowy ones. Whether it’s cool-colors-animal-pattern-only, with silhouettes in a different batch, or cool-colors-all-pattern-options, I don’t even mind. I’d be happy with a cool-toned sihouette or a cool-toned tiger/leopard!

I got a scratching dragon with the same problem, decapitation. and his neck scales got turned into dust. I glued the head on but where the neck connects to the body the scales are gone have to remake them and mold the scales on the neck. I’ll try to post pictures. But i am trying to find something to fill in the small cracks and when the gold painted bosses that seamed to always get chipped off are a pain to rebuild. The 2 part clay epoxy sucks for something this small. it will only work if you build a mold. Now does anyone have any good ideas for getting the areas like a break ready for paint. I have been stripping down most of the old paint so you don’t have valleys. Like when you prep a car after you fix a dent. The putty can only do so much, so you paint over the area with a 2 part prep paint, then smooth it with 600 – 1000 grit paper. So when you put down your paint it is smooth mirror finish. I don’t know how this will work on these castings, Any advice on this process or tricks will help.
I just saw in the “Cleaning a Filthy Rainbow Boi” thread that Drag0nfeathers recommended a product called ‘Green Stuff’ for filling tiny cracks better than epoxy! Sounds like that might be what you need.

I’m surprised in this day and age folks don’t quickly google an item (especially one that has a name carved in it and a stamp on the bottom of it identifying the manufacturer) at least just to get a quick idea of what the cost/retail would run. I see some auctions that are crazy priced and some that are real steals. It’s just one of those items I don’t think people either realize what it is worth, OR they think if they mark it up really high someone will think it must be special somehow and buy it quickly not knowing they kind of got ripped off. Then again a Windstone is worth as much as someone will pay for it. I have my share of pieces I paid out of the nose for because I wanted them, and others I got great deals on. eBay is a fickle mistress.
I think a lot of it is that they, or Google’s searchbots, look on Ebay for their ‘research.’ A non-collector might see the latest test paint going for $490 and not dig deeper than that, so they don’t realize that the seller of that item is *the actual company* (i.e. it’s not a secondhand piece) and that it’s not a mass-produced version. Or they see two people who saw a test paint Male go for $300 last year and listed their own Males at $300, so they figure that must be the average price. (The curse of Ebay: what’s available at any given time is totally random, so it’s very hard to determine an average or baseline for anything!)
It’s so frustrating seeing a decent piece that you’d happily pay $150 for, only to see that the seller is asking $400 for it. And of course, I’m always leery of the way-overpriced ones because it says to me that the seller doesn’t know what they have… which means they also probably don’t know how to pack and ship it safely. :/
(One thing I have learned in my job is that people trust Google algorithms WAY more than they ought! My (private) workplace gets phone calls meant for a city department all the time, and the number of people who say, “but I Googled their number and this is the number it gave me!” when told they have the wrong place is just scary. I’m sorry the Internet was wrong about something! That frequently happens, and it’s concerning that you aren’t aware of it. Insisting that Google gave you my number doesn’t magically turn me into a city employee.)
