She’s coming along beautifully! 🙂
December 11, 2015 at 9:42 pm in reply to: the soon-to-be gb young poads – what are your faves? #938067Man, I’m so out of touch. I didn’t know these were being worked on. So many of them I’m doing Grabby Hands at 😀 Just beautiful! However, since it’s so close to Christmas, I have to pass on ordering such a big ticket item for myself. Can’t wait to see the photo thread!
Congratulations!

All your pieces are lovely 🙂
Congrats!
I love hummus! Although, I only like plain or the garlic flavor. Every time I’ve tried a flavored one, I ended up not liking it. I don’t really favor a particular brand. Never tried to make my own, but maybe this thread will inspire me to try.
October 31, 2015 at 1:04 am in reply to: Brand suggestions for a good brush-on Clear Coat/Varnish? #936518I’ve used DuraClear, Liquitex, and Golden Brand. The DuraClear seemed fine the couple of times I used it; I only switched because I started to use artist grade paints so it seemed logical to me to start using an artist grade varnish instead of a craft grade. There are a lot of artist recommendations for the Liquitex brand varnish, however, I must of got some bad bottles. The air bubbles in it were terrible and ruined one of my pieces. Someone must have shook the bottles vigorously before I bought them. That’s more of an isolated incident and my bad luck because I don’t see others on the web complaining of that. Currently, I’ve been using the Golden Polymer Varnish with UVLs (do NOT get the one that says MSA Varnish: that one is Mineral Spirit based not water based) which I like because I can brush it on or run it through my airbrush.
So basically, depending on what you are willing to spend and what brands are available in your area, you probably are fine in choosing any of these brands.

I was hoping to finish this week, but it looks like next week. I started another project and also decided to make myself a Halloween costume. Happy Halloween everyone!
Congrats both on your lovely prizes!
October 28, 2015 at 2:39 pm in reply to: Lokie's PYOs: In-Progress Smutty Buckskin Unicorn, Page 12 #936471Thanks, and yeah, I’ll probably pass on the bronze. At one time, I make paper cones to fit over the PYO unicorn horn and painted them all the metallic colors so I could get a preview of what each color would look like against the paint schemes. But I seem to have lost them and am to lazy to make them again LOL
Welcome!
October 27, 2015 at 2:56 pm in reply to: Lokie's PYOs: In-Progress Smutty Buckskin Unicorn, Page 12 #936445Oh man, finding this old thread was difficult. It’s been a year and 10 days since I completed my last PYO.
This is an almost complete Sooty/Smutty Buckskin PYO Unicorn. The horn fell out, but that only made it easier to paint. Haven’t decided quite yet what color that will be… gold, copper, bronze ? Anyways, this paintjob started as an experiment with a new dappling technique. I won’t say it was an epic failure (that’s probably too hyperbolic), but it was definitely a mega HUGE failure. But I couldn’t scrap it, and basically have repainted most of it, covering the majority of the dapples. Still, I found myself loving his new paint job. Its very rich looking in person, and for some reason, my camera/lighting makes his undercoat look orangish, but it definitely isn’t.
Horror movies are my favorite genre of movie, so I pretty much watch them whenever I have an opportunity (for instance, I’ll be renting “It Follows” tomorrow). I don’t really associate horror movies with Halloween (except the “Halloween” series) or watch any particular movie on that night. I think if I was going to make a tradition of watching movies on Halloween, it would probably be the “Evil Dead” series.
I third the rattie! Anything rat related will alway get my +1, even if I’m not present to make my voice heard 😀
