Though uncommon, since orange-eyed Emeralds are mistakes, I don’t think this dragon is worth this seller’s starting bid amount of $299, let alone $599.

I recently purchased an Orange-eyed Emerald Young with light yellow crystal this past December. I paid just over $150 for her, and she’s quite spectacular.

How do you know the difference between your lunar and solar birthday? I haven’t heard of that before.

This information is just something I grew up with. Lunar calendars are charted using the Moon, and Lunar calendar months start on the day of the Full Moon. It’s why they’re called Lunar calendars. The calendar nearly everyone else uses, is the Solar calendar.

In many cultures, when a baby is born, their age starts at 0. Which is, in my opinion, quite preposterous. The main question being, “How could the baby be 0, when if born at full term, they’re already around 9-10 months old?”. In Chinese culture, when a baby is born, they’re already considered to be a year old.

Also, it isn’t difficult to determine the approximate date someone’s Lunar birthday would be, as there are conversion charts available online.

Well, I’m half Chinese, and half White. I actually have two birthdays, one according to the Lunar Calendar, and one according to the Solar Calendar.

My Lunar birthday is 17 April 1988. The year of the Dragon, element of Yang Earth, in the Sun Sign of Aries.

My Solar birthday is 21 May 1989. The year of the Serpent, element of Yin Earth, in the Cusp of Sun Signs, Taurus and Gemini.

Since I live in the US, I go mostly by my Solar birthday. Just thought I’d include my Lunar birthday as a point of interest xD

I’ll be 25 in May, and only have a few prized Windstones since I began collecting when I was 17, but I’ve admired them ever since I first saw them in their glass display cases when I was 10. My favorites being the Ivories and Emeralds.
My first Windstone was an emerald hybrid young dragon, which I regret selling as I haven’t seen one so dark ever since. I am now the proud owner of two special eBay pieces [used to have 3, but the Copper Forest mother gryphon has found a new home with StormDancer! ^w^], an uncommon orange eyed emerald young, the gorgeous PYO Keeper featured in my signature, and several others. I can say that without a doubt, I’ll definitely never stop collecting!

The purple is really hard to read! Your idea of hummingbird themed griffins is interesting. I don’t think any have been painted like that.

Is there an update about the king fisher griffins?

Oh, the paint samples are sitting here… I just …I dunno…I just don’t like the color that much. The blue color doesn’t “go” with the other colors.

I know that ‘Fisher’ the Emperor Dragon, that was one of the Raffles was a revision from an Amethyst color to a ‘King Fisher’ type color scheme, but what about something similar to what he turned out to be? Would this make a nice King Fisher color for the Griffins? Just a thought.

I’ll keep thinking about the king fisher color… maybe it needs to “steep” awhile in my brain, like tea does in hot water.

I posted in the Blog for these gryphons, but I suppose I’ll repeat it here too [clicking on the picture will take you to the Blog]. I think he’d be great if he had a deep reddish purple flash throughout his color-scheme. Not so much that it’d overpower his main colors, but as a sort of underlying color that pops when you turn him in the light. I also agree with Drag0n’s suggestion that his wings would be neat with blackened tips, and I think they’d be even cooler if the tips were lightly barred.
