As far as I remember, the black and brown are going to be regular production to match the males. Its only the first 10 signed ones that are going on Ebay.

Melody told me that the ones to match the old males will be limited production only (though she could have changed her mind- which is possible!) and that the new colors were going to be regular production so that people can collect the entire family.

Windstone has a lot of things to carefully consider before releasing something into normal production. They have to bear in mind how well pieces sell to the general public as well as collectors, since they rely on their physical retailers so much. It’s been their history that if folks can collect an entire ‘set’ of something, like a family, it will in general sell better. Most people won’t go out of their way to buy the retired male griffin (except us crazies!). They also have to consider storage space, shipping weights, etc. I, too, would love a femaile in both old colors to match my males, but I understand that Windstone usually has to look out for the future of the company rather than making me happy. 😆 😉 Not that they don’t strive to make us happy! Goodness, consider all that they’ve done just for the collector base in the last year or so. 😀

Nambroth, I in particular curiosly eyed the design of Saphira, cause, except for the color and the fishy scales she reminded me a lot of your designs.

That’s kind of you! Though I digress, I’m already starting to get comments on my existing artwork such as “That reminds me of Saphira!” and “Is this based on Eragon?” Which is a little depressing. 😉

I haven’t seen it yet… I might catch a daytime showing for a cheap ticket, but I’ll only go for the eye candy.

This has been discussed before but Eragon as a whole makes me really sad… it’s just an example of how knowing the right people means you get ahead in the world.

Mind, I’m not trying to bash it, but for those so inclined, the following link may be of interest:

From what I’ve heard, the movie makes the book look good. Which is completely depressing! But, I do enjoy eye-candy… Hmm. 😉

This review made me laugh too!

John mentioned to me running a few of my PYO auctions possibly over the holidays also, but of course nothing is set in stone.

The horns are made of gold-plated pewter, so yes, it is solid metal. I’m not sure of the best method of working pewter; it’s not something I’ve done before. You might want to ask Melody or someone else at the Factory that has some experience. Or perhaps someone here has worked with pewter before and can offer better advice! 🙂

Pewter is fairly soft… If it were mine, I’d heavily pad a pair of pliers with some soft cloth (fleece, a car-shammy, or something gentle and not abrasive) and gently work it back to where it needs to be- I’d be sure to grip and steady it -above- the base of the horn though with another pair of padded pliers- last thing you’d want is to break it off of the unicorn’s head! They are only glued in, with a peg of the metal extending down into the head. If you put too much stress on the base it could crack right out of the gypsum and leave you heartbroken over your poor unicorn’s broken head! D:

Yea, I’m curious too how much the griffins (sold direct from the factory) will be. I estimate they will run between $230-250. The Mother is bigger and has possibly more detailing than the male due to the added “jewelery”. This is how I’m budgeting, but I really don’t know. Just a guestimate.

That sounds like a pretty good estimate! Though we really won’t know until the moment they appear on eBay- genuinely as Melody said, often things like prices, descriptions, etc, get decided five minutes before they list them! 😆

When the seller listed the auctions, they listed several different types of shipping options since it’s so close to Christmas. Those prices may be a little high but I don’t think they qualify as a scam. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see the different shipping options and prices. The seller was probably just trying to be nice and offer express shipping (which IS hella expensive) in case someone wanted to get the piece in time to give as a gift! 🙂
( Drag0nfeathers, I know you already noticed this XD )

The shipping on the rainbow emperor does seem a little too steep though. Perhaps the seller made a mistake entering the weight, or has another reason.

Depends on which griffins! I think she said the limited production females (ones painted to match the old male) will be around or possibly a bit more than the limited males that went up (around $230?). These numbers are not yet set though!

She is also planning on releasing the whole family in an entirely new color, and the family will be retailed so the prices will likely be a bit lower than that. Hope that helps!

It’s just like computers. If you want to run the latest and hottest stuff, you have to keep your system upgraded so that it is capable of running such things. Game consoles are the same idea- if you want to play the new games that come out you gotta get the console. I know there’s a dragon game coming out for the PS3 that I’d love to play, but there’s no way I’ll get a PS3 in the near future. Maybe in like 5 years when the price is reduced to $99!

Only new sellers are not permitted to sell online as far as I know- that’s why older, established dealers can do online sales. Windstone just wants any new retailers to be a physical store right now, to concentrate on that market (since that’s the one that is hurting the most right now). If that makes sense?
