I just posted a thread about the “About This Site” page in the “introductory” forum and I clicked on “stick to front” and it now seems to be at the beginning of every forum! I guess that’s o.k for now… But I didn’t know it was going to do that! Other moderators – you may alter it if you see fit! -Susie
Susie: I think it’s good to have it stuck to all the forums temporarily, while we are still working on so much! That way no one misses it. But in the future, if you ever want to make something a “sticky” in the forum that it lives in only, click the word “stick” and not (to front), and it will sticky it only in that forum.
Non-moderators can ignore this as it is not an option!

My art: featherdust.comAnother question about classified ads, can you increase the size limit of the pictures back to 2 MB? It looks like it will only take pictures up to 1 MB now and half the pictures I had in my ads before have disappeared. I don’t want to have to resize a ton of photos again that I already resized before. I also had links in my ads for photobucket photos before and those are also all gone now too.
Right now it is set to 1 megabyte. 1mb is actually a pretty large image file for web use, and by keeping it 1mb or less, it will help reduce the load on our servers!
As for your photobucket links, some (or all?) html may have been lost in the transfer, I’m not sure. You may need to copy-paste that back in.

My art: featherdust.comI’ve started making new threads to replace the older, super long ones that we still actively use (such as the copyright infringement thread). Even if the forum is not having trouble with threads that have over 100 replies… well, honestly, over 100 replies is pretty dang long anyhow, so we can afford to start a new copy! This will probably make things load faster, anyhow. A lot of the really old threads have some weird formatting issues after being imported across not one but TWO different platforms over the last 10 years!

My art: featherdust.comJuly 29, 2016 at 10:59 am in reply to: Report Windstone Fakes/Knock offs/Infringment Pls read first #1487678This thread is EIGHT! (wow!) years old now, and getting quite long and hard for the forum to handle in some ways. The original post is also long since missing, sadly! I’ve started a new thread for us here: http://windstoneeditions.com/the-windstone-forum/topic/reports-of-fake-knock-off-windstones-and-general-infringements/

My art: featherdust.comClay, another weird problem that I am not finding a way to fix: In my account, under “Forums”, it lists all of the topics I’ve started. I thought this would be an easy way to find threads I have started in the past (such as rules, etc), but it won’t let me go backward past “page 1”. I tried on several different browsers.
Another sticky that I would like to see retrieved, if possible, is Wolfenmachine’s database of production sculpts and colors. I found that one very useful.
If anyone can find that thread, please link it here for me so I can re-sticky it.

My art: featherdust.comOne suggestion I have (aimed more toward Jennifer/Nambroth). Since the editing of old posts that were moved from the old platform (yay for not being on Drupal!) to the new platform has disappeared, which I expected would likely happen, for the threads that had a lot of editing to posts by their owners (Wishlists and PYO commissions come to mind), can we start fresh threads for those? I know the Wishlists thread has got a LOT of chitchat that was supposed to be kept to a minimum, but has crept in there. Would be a good opportunity to start fresh on them (and allow for editing of posts again by their owners). I can’t recall if the Wishlists thread was originally stickied (I think it was), but I know the PYO commission one was). Thanks!
Good idea. I will make a new PYO commission post/thread. A lot of it was very old info anyhow.
I’ll do the same for the repairs forum and the wish lists. If you can think of any other posts we should start fresh, I’d be happy to do that as well.I’m actually having a problem FINDING some of the old stickied posts… like the feedback list post, PYO commission list, repair commission list, some of the rules pages. They are so buried, sometimes in hundreds of pages, and the search function isn’t grabbing them well. I’ll see if I can dig them out. If someone else beats me to it, can you post the links to this thread for me? If I had been thinking, I would have bookmarked them BEFORE the migration! Doh!

My art: featherdust.comI’ve found that for several threads, if I click the ‘freshness’ link it doesn’t take me to the latest post – it did for this specific thread but not many others. I’m using my BlackBerry mostly when looking at these, so I’m not sure if it’s isolated to my method of viewing – I’ll check it on my PC & MAC desktops.
Are you looking mostly at very LONG threads when this happens? Ones with lots and lots and lots of pages?
I’m wondering if the new platform just can’t handle threads over 100 pages. In this case, we should start new threads for those topics, I think. Having enormously long threads can sort of be a pain for this sort of thing…. Hmm!!Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
My art: featherdust.comThe high flow Golden acrylics should work well! I have used those, myself. They will soak into the gypsum a bit, so might take some getting used to, but will adhere quite well.
I’m sorry that one of the eyes does not fit into the socket on your PYO! If you are unhappy with that, please contact Susie over at Windstone so that they can fix this issue for you!

My art: featherdust.comMike, to expand on Clay’s excellent reply, and to take my official hat off for a moment: The big reason we had to move to this new format in the first place was that the bugs that were building up more and more on the old Drupal platform were either impossible to fix, or impossible to fix with the type of budget that a small company like Windstone has. Drupal is a bit of a niche platform compared to WordPress (which runs our new site). Approximately 2% of worldwide websites use Drupal, whereas over a quarter of worldwide websites use WordPress. Why does this matter? In a nutshell: Very few people could help us with our Drupal problems. It was rather awful to learn, understand, and manage. Can you tell I hated it? Fixes were usually mere bandaids to make sure that people could use the website (but sometimes barely… the last few months, the forum barely loaded). It was not sustainable.
Bear with us, we’ll get this figured out! The good thing with WordPress is that there are a lot of options and it is well supported. It won’t ever be exactly the same, but we can get it working nicely in time. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comIt appears that some of the sticky topics got un-sticky when they moved (maybe the stick wore off). Anyhow, now that I can do some basics, if you see any topics that used to be a sticky that no longer are (and should be), please let me know here!
I can now do some of the basic moderator stuff, if anyone needs that type of help.Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
My art: featherdust.comAlso, just for our own sanity, can you please post about any errors, problems, concerns, suggestions, etc that you have with the new site/forum over here? http://windstoneeditions.com/the-windstone-forum/forum/miscellany/help-feedback/
There are already a few threads about the NEW site you can post in, or start your own if need be.
That’s just so it’s easier to find them all and work on getting things back up to speed!! Thanks so much!Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com

My art: featherdust.comWe know some of the functionality that we all got used to on the old forum is missing, or moved, or just weird right now. Thanks for bearing with us! Please know that what you see as of right now is a work in progress… it’s not yet its “final form!” Thank you so much for your patience and please do keep your feedback coming. 🙂
