Thanks for the help. I just got one of these candle lamps. Soooo pretty! Anyway, from the seller’s photos it looked like “that thing” might have been chipped and I thought I might have needed a photo reference for resculpting. I don’t now. As it turns out, “that thing” just had a wad of spider silk on it and it’s not chipped. Yay! Of course now that I can see it in person, I still don’t know what “that thing” on the floor is. 😛
Even more added, LOTS MORE, today 6/3/16. Selling off a lot of my collections. Why? My student loan grace period is over. Nuff’ said. 😛 Lots of fantasy collectibles, including dragons. Some item brands and artists: Dragonsite, Fairysite, Veronese, Amy Brown, Jody Bergsma, Andrew Bill, McFarlane’s Dragons, and more. The link to my ebay page is above in my first posting.
Are those pebble horses our next GB?
Yes, but we have a problem, we can’t call them “pebble horses”!
I was snooping around on a model horse website and found that “Stone” horses has a “Pebble” line!
Now what do we call them? Some of the Windstone listings on etsy, including the pebble wolf, are listed as a totems. Who can say if Windstones have “spiritual significance”. Depends on the person. 😉
Oh my goodness! Horses! I hope there will be a clydesdale or two in there somewhere. I love them so much! My favorite horse, the gentle giants. I got to meet some of the Budweiser horses not too long ago. Some of them live in my state. 🙂
This is one of those times I make an exception for natural prints…when they’re on real animals. 🙂
THERE IT IS!!!!!!!!!! Much congrats Mercury Star. You’re blessed to have gotten THE most beautiful unicorn Ms.Melody has ever done.IMO Just WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
This. ^^^^^^
And the pops of white…just gorgeous. Big congrats!
Very true. This happens to me more than I care to admit and I’ve had to go to the post office several times for false “delivered” or “notice left” tracking info. Sometimes they give the wrong info about where the package were delivered too. For example, tracking might say it was delivered to the front porch/door when it was actually delivered to the front office or parcel locker (if you live in an apartment complex or housing division). It’s their job to help you and most of the time they can help you figure it out by asking who had what delivery route and when.
Maybe it’s our own fault because we saw all of the unis in the live stream and it didn’t occure to any of us to request the natural safaris be put into its own seperate grab bag batch.
When the June/July 2014 Youngs were announced, there was some discussion about whether or not they would be in two separate batches because there were definite divides between people who absolutely wanted a fantasy uni and people who absolutely wanted a safari one. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I believe that we were told that it would be too much work to separate them. Whatever the reason, they were not separated into different batches and perhaps that is why they weren’t for this batch either.
I believe that if they knew enough people wanted it, they would work something out for it in the future. The only problem is that there are certainly a lot of unis that could straddle that line between fantasy and Safari, so which uni would belong to which batch? For example, Briar Rose is undoubtedly a safari uni except for the flowers on his neck, so does that mean he’s a fantasy? Are safaris strictly natural colored unis and fantasy strictly “unnatural” colors? Do fantasy colored feathers on the back of an otherwise naturally colored uni make the uni a fantasy? There are certainly some extremes, but that may be another factor in why it would be difficult to split them into batches. If Melody didn’t have 2 batches in mind when she was making them, I can see why a lot of the features fade over from a safari look to fantasy look.
Again, I think if it concerns enough people it should certainly be a question that we ask 🙂
Good points. I suppose blue morpho could be considered a natural color too. In my own mind, at least when it comes to windstone colorations, fantasy is bright and loud colors that may be mixed with neutral colors. Natural is pale neutral colors with no pops of bright color, especially a piece painted soley in browns and black. Brown can never be a fantasy color on its own, but when paired with a bright green or pink, it can cross over. I personally consider Briar Rose fantasy because the flowers pop, even though it could be considered natural. Nature has a ton of bright colors so I can see where the that line could blur.
So, I assume when others say “natural” they think of a piece painted only in shades of brown, black, and white. Maybe dark green too.
That is a pretty rainbow one! Where are all the collectors that like the natural and safari styles? It seems everyone wants the fantasy ones and those of us that got the natural/safari ones can’t find any trades.
Yup. Total pain when you hate a type and the batches are mixed. I vote for segregating the safaris in their own batches. That went down with the safari GBB before. A fantasy that’s not my style can grow on me, a safari though, blargh. And for this batch, everyone seems to be in agreement with “blaarrrgghh!” and tough luck to the 20+ natural/safari types in the herd.
Agreed, not that I’m complaining or being ungrateful! They’re ALL beautiful unis, but it’s just no fun being stuck with a natural when you collect fantasy, especially for something this pricey $$$. I got stuck with a natural safari too and apparently NOBODY wants to trade a natural for a fantasy, which is the only coloration I collect (although there are a very few exceptions to my own rule, but not in this case.) I was lucky enough to find someone to trade my natural safari uni for several other non-uni pieces at least and a big thanks goes out to the forum member who traded with me. 😉

Btw, I can’t edit my ads. The edit button is gone! Has anyone else noticed this issue?
All of these fantasy color unis are just amazing. I recieved a safari/natural color one. 🙁 Twas not too excited about it, but he is still very much a handsome unicorn if you’re into the natural look. He’s kinda growing on me. Although, he’s still looking for a new home.
What safari one did you get? A lot of the safari ones showed up it look like.
I think the back of the white one looked like bones at first until you mentioned it was tribal looking. Looks really neat!
I have “Zanzibar”, which is a port city on the coast of Africa. I just listing him in the classifieds. He has a zebra head with tan feathers and a black, white, and tan body. I’m not sure what his lower half is…maybe a dog print?
Andromeda was another one of the names I submitted! Yay! I was thinking of the Andomeda galaxy though, not the greek goddess. That’s two unicorn now. The other was Faewing.

I found my first Windstone in an antiques and collectibles store almost two years ago. It was a chipped white dragon male for $25. I had no idea what Windstones were at the time. I just thought that dragon, which sadly I no longer have, was the coolest dragon I’ve ever seen. After researching the company and discovering all the other colors and sculpts, well, that was the end of my savings and the beginning of Windstone addiction. O_o I have been looking in thrift, antique, collectible, and “hippie” stores ever since.
There is a strange Windstone hatching dragon on eBay. I cannot figure out how to post a picture on here. 361552352423 is the item number. Can someone please take a look and let me know what it is? I am dying of curiosity.
It’s a retired hatching gargoyle.
Good luck with the job hunt, prezaurian. I hope it is successful soon. (and to you too, Dragoneer)
Thanks, Aggie. 😉
Just musing out loud, but since they are still looking at the list of names and the pads still needed to be put on, I am presuming they will not be coming out today.
I hope you’re right, Aggie. I’m trying to convince family to help me buy one, but they don’t understand the Windstone addiction. All I get is a frowny face and eye rolls. I need more time. Maybe a Friday release? That’s payday for some people!
