Oh, I am so sorry to read this. Huge hugs for you. My family lost a senior-but-lots-of-years-left horse to a freak accident too a few years back and it’s just awful when something like this happens. You did the right thing, and I was so happy to read that you were able to give him comfort during the whole ordeal. Truly it was all you could have done, and all he would have asked. <3 More hugs, and my one of my favorite horse poems for you.
The HORSE’S PRAYER
To thee, my master I offer my prayer.
Feed me, water me, and care for me.
And when the work is done, provide me with a shelter,
a clean dry bed, and a stall wide enough for me to lie down in comfort.
Always be kind to me. Talk to me.
Your voice often means as much to me as the reins.
Pet me sometimes, that I may serve you more gladly and learn to love you.
Do not jerk the reins. Never strike, beat, or kick me when I do not understand what you want, but give me a chance to understand you.
Watch me, and if I fail to do your bidding, see if something is wrong with my tack or my feet. Keep me well-shod.
Examine my teeth when I do not eat.
Do not tie my head in an unnatural position or take away my best defence against flies and mosquitoes, by cutting my tail.
I cannot tell you in words, when I am sick, so watch me that by my signs, you may know my condition.
Give me all possible shelter from the hot sun.
Put a blanket on me when I stand in the cold.
Never put a frosty bit in my mouth; first warm it in you hands.
I try to carry you without a murmur, and wait patiently for you long hours.
Remember, that I must be ready at any moment, to lose my life in your service.
And finally, oh my master, when my strength is gone, to not turn me out to starve or freeze.
Do not sell to some cruel owner, to be slowly tortured.
Do thou, my master, take my life in the kindest way, and your GOD will reward you, here, and in the hereafter.
Do not consider me irreverant, if I ask all this in the name of HE, who was born in a stable.Author unknown
Here’s my lovely Lama!
I do like him a lot but I’d be open to selling him. He looks awfully cute up on my desk above my computer in the meanwhile though. <3 I think it's a great sculpt for showing off the color shift paint.
Haha, I remember endlessly trawling through out-of-state Craigslist ads for pieces I was after. I found a grail piece listed for a very fair price in Arizona, but when I contacted the seller she was clearly spooked about the idea of selling to someone from California and very adamant that she would not ship. On the outside I was all “I completely understand it is okay good luck with your sales thank you for your time” but on the inside I’m just all
Discouraged, I tried to find a forum member who lived close enough to do a pickup, and I did! And better yet, she was totally willing to help me out. The seller was STILL a little suspicious when this person contacted her, even though she was careful to keep a poker face about the whole situation. It was so odd. Why list your piece and then be headshy when people want to buy it? :/ I was just happy it all worked out in the end though. 🙂
January 26, 2016 at 4:28 am in reply to: On a deperate search for a Flion ? Any suggestions ? #940577+1 for the Want Ad posting recommendation! It’s not the most uncommon of sculpt so you may find some people come to you with one for sale.
If not, you can always search for “Windstone Flion” on ebay and use the ‘save this search’ option. Then, whenever a new one is listed you’ll be notified via email. 🙂
FWIW I’ve found a ton of variation in the asking prices on ebay, but to the left on your search results there you can filter by “Sold listings” which gives you a much more accurate idea of how much pieces have gone for in the last 3 months.
I’m in clean-out mode at my mom’s house and have a MASSIVE herd of Breyers from about mid-80s to 2007-ish. If there’s a production piece any of you all after in particular, shoot me a PM.
Oh Laurie, I’m so sorry to hear all that. WAY too much for anyone to have to handle all at once. Big big hugs, I hope you’re holding up all right.
OMG I discovered this thread late but I LOVE it! I love congas! Everyone’s are so lovely. I’ve been feeling bummed about needing to sell some pieces and then I find this thread of conga appreciation. <3 And I recognize some of the GBs I've known 'n loved with their friends! <3 Squee, this place is just the best.
Fledgie conga! I gotta update this one. I have moar now.
Young Oriental Dragon conga!
GB Uni conga!
I just recently had to extract the absolute WORST horn embedding I’ve ever done. I made my own tool that proved to be very effective! I took a short sewing needle and wedged it into the base of a hobby knife instead of a blade. That way I could screw the needle in nice and tight to make a very precise and sharp digging tool. It gave a fantastic amount of leverage from the handle and I could efficiently dig out the glue/horn stub with the needle tip. Since the needle is so small it left no damage to the surrounding area. With a lot of patience I was able to dig/loosen the horn stub and remove it. I am definitely keeping that tool for repairs like this in the future. Hope this helps. 🙂
Mostly just here to +1 what Jen has said, she knows her stuff! Anything I could add would be redundant.
+1 for the shrimp tanks too. I adore my shrimpies. 🙂
Also, tanks are addicting. I started with a goldfish rescue tank 10 years ago, and this is just one of my planted tanks now. 😉
Hey welcome back! I remember ya. 🙂
So it’s official, this is my last week at work before they lay me off. (We were supposed to run till the end of November but this way they don’t have to pay us 2 days off for Thanksgiving.) The whole situation is so unfair and crappy and ughhhh. We’ve been carrying the entire company, but subsidies in Canada are shutting down our California studio.
So reasonably I was pretty depressed when I woke up this morning.
So it wasn’t the best of timing to see a text from a guy who broke my heart 2 years ago, whom I’ve not spoken to since he moved out of state. It was a picture of his smiling new fiancee showing her ring. He wrote, “So this happened”
They’re both nice people. Just really didn’t need that first thing this morning. 3
I carved my pumpkin better than I thought I’d be able to, and it was so fun!
Also, my friends and I can’t stop laughing at this. 🙂 Yay halloween! (warning some swear words)
An ebay seller lifted one of my descriptions word for word. It’s not the end of the world but it did bother me, so I sent a message requesting that she please not do that for her future auctions. I kept it very polite since you never know a person’s reasoning for stuff like that. They responded with “I believe the words you’re looking for are THANK YOU” and said that I should be flattered.
Uhm, no, I’m not.
I sent back another polite reply, requested again that she not do that, and wished her luck on her auction. She said she doesn’t plan to list any more dragons so I hope it doesn’t come up again. Shrug. It just does bug me a little, that someone would do that at all. I totally understand hitting the same selling points as a past successful auction, but it doesn’t seem too much to request that people use their own phrasing.
I took some VF photos for sales a while back and they’re some of my favorites. 🙂 I love this color. My Fledge is one of the older ones as well. The color from the old batches to the newer release is very consistent though!

That clinches it, I am never shipping a fragile item through that program again. I’m so sorry this happened to you. 🙁
