The hardest thing is choosing favorites! I like 1 through 6, 9, 11, 14, 17, and 18. The gray patterns on 4 are fun and would make that one stand out among its tabby cousins. I guess overall I lean more towards the ones done in browns and yellows rather than the bright hues. But the interference colors over the dark brown are fantastic! And it’d be fun to throw one or two wearing wild colors into a group of quieter types. So I’m talking myself into liking all of them. Again. πŸ˜›
I think it’s safe to say that poads would tend to sell in multiples. πŸ™‚

Poads? Actual, honest-to-golly poads, in the–err, gypsum–and all that? 😯 Marvellous! πŸ˜€ (Incidentally, they would have worked on me as a method of drawing attention to the comic: they’re so doggoned cute!) If poads are to enter production, then I know what my next gotta-get-it Windstone is going to be. I’ll be watching this thread hoping for more news. And news of the comic, too: hey, if it’s got poads in it, then I want to read it. Maybe read it to a small group of poads? Poads are like potato chips or Old Browns: you can’t have just one . . . . πŸ˜‰
OK, it’s obviously getting a little late at night for me. I’m gonna turn into a pumpkin any minute now!

That’s very good news! There’s just something about the copper and purple on this fellow that really grabs my attention. I’m having to sit on my fingers to keep out of the auction. But if there will be more later–even if they will likewise be rare–then at least I can tell myself that I’ll have a chance at one of them. Thanks for the info! πŸ™‚

I’ve been watching the Violet Flame auction. Gold spots on the wings, aaarrgh. There has been much sighing. I sure hope more of these gorgeous fellows appear over time–maybe when I’m not moving house! It is not easy to be practical when faced with this lad!

Ooh, I may get my feathers singed for speaking up: I do have one of the regular Flame Old Warriors, but I really don’t want to give him up even for such a generous trade. πŸ™ Incidentally, I was one of those non-Forum-member buyers. Mine has got a pretty high number; I squeaked in at the end of their run. I had no idea that that was to be the end of them, period. When I do get my pictures posted, he’ll be included. That was such a striking color scheme! I wish I could have afforded one of the Violet Flames, too, but there was just no way. There was much sighing over those auctions at this end! πŸ˜‰

I just checked the Photobucket images. I like your PYOs, Greater Basilisk! (I see you favor the classical figures, too. πŸ™‚ ) Cerberus is definitely the most striking, although the royal ermine detailing on Xerxes is really clever. And I have a fondness for blues and greens, so I like Pliny too. Very nice!

My username? I love raptors, and the majority of them in my part of the state have barred wing markings. Regarding the abbreviation: that started with an e-mail username that could only have eight characters. I got so used to “barrdwng” that it seemed a logical choice for a username here, but I did take advantage of the opportunity to tweak the spelling. πŸ˜›

Thanks for the quick tutorial! It does sound easy enough (says she of the scanty computer literacy) and I will have to give that a try. By the way, Greater Basilisk, that is one spectacular griffin image that you use in your posts! Your own work, I believe? It looks like a phoenix–I love it! (Whoops, that belongs under the paint-your-own thread, or perhaps Galleries. Well, I’ll be going there at some point to coo and fluff properly over the beauties that everyone has been painting!) πŸ˜€

Hi! Thank you all for the warm welcome! Greater Basilisk, you are so kind to give me the excuse to put up photos of my collection . . . um . . . okay, how do I do that? I can manage digital photos, but when it comes down to what format they need to be in and how to import them, I get a little lost. 😳 I don’t suppose there’s a list of instructions someplace on the site?

It was mentioned that new folks could step up and say hello here, so here I am! I’ve been an avid admirer of Windstones ever since I stumbled across a group of the Old Browns while on a road trip in high school. I was broke as could be at the time and it just about made me ill to walk out of that store empty-handed. I’d never seen anything like those dragons!
These days I’m less broke and have been slowly building my collection. I am delighted beyond all measure at the way the line has expanded! πŸ˜€ The PYOs are a particularly wonderful idea, and I am forever in awe of the work that has been posted in the Galleries and the pieces that appear on eBay. This is such a neat group!
I’m not familiar with posting; I’ll bet it shows. πŸ˜› Please be patient with my stumbling, and I’m looking forward to being able to put in my two cents’ worth now and then. πŸ˜€
