…Don’t suppose there’s a chance of setting up your own little metal casting workshop in some corner of the factory?

(scroll down to see them…) #854796I don’t know if they have any more hatching royalty to send me, or if they’d want me to paint them (they do take a while to paint) but I enjoyed every one I did. I love those little guys. I could try a tiger dragon, and I could definitely make it look different from Melody’s, but there HAVE been a lot of stripes on ebay… I mean, a tiger stegosaurus?? Really??

-J R R TolkienNo body else? Really? Because I have a wolf and a griffin here that I swear I didn’t buy for myself…. 🙁 I hope it isn’t someone who’s left the forum since then.

King Cheetah was in the running. I may save those spots for future use.

I would LOVE a white tiger griffin family but it looks I already got out voted. 🙁 BTW your Tiger Griffin family says Hello mom! lol.
😀 Hi babies! 😉 Always happy to check in. And hey, I’m with you, I’m itching for more tigers. They’ll come in time, we’ll just have to be patient. 😉
Personally, I liked the brownish hatching empress and the sparrow griffin chicks best. e.e
I like the sparrow griffinlets both as designs and as a concept – little pieces that are complete in themselves (not babies waiting for Mama and Papa to come along). More griffinletts!
If I can do more small pieces in the future, more griffinlets will definitely be high on the list.
I have an idea for a new griffin family. Will start on them next week! They will in fact have spots. Who can guess the cat?

-J R R TolkienThe barn swallow color is officially my new favorite. Good heavens I think they’re beautiful!

-J R R TolkienI don’t mind painting hatching pegasi 🙂 Though I do have to finish the three on my desk!

So I’m thinking no more big tiger griffins at the moment, since quite a few of you who responded seem to need a break – though I do have an idea for a black tiger. I don’t know what it will actually look like yet, but maybe I will experiment on a PYO. I’m thinking spots may be the way to go for the next griffin family, or else something more bird oriented instead of cat oriented.
I need help with dragons, though! I never know what color to paint dragons… Unless you want to see more in the copper cowry color?
That cowry young dragon has not yet been sent to the factory – he will be for sale some time in the future. Anyone who liked him still has a chance to get him!

I’m so glad you liked the griffinlets! I really love the idea of tiny griffins. I was thinking of doing a couple more sets of chicks in the griffinlet theme – would anyone care for those? One of the ideas I had was for ruby throated hummingbird griffinlets.
And how about the quagga unicorns? I have one very special grand unicorn here (so far as I know he was one of the only left over castings and I don’t think they’ve got that mold back up and running) and I was intending to finish off the quagga family with him, but I’m not sure the quaggas were at all popular. Should I save him for something different?

Aww, thanks 🙂 I’m glad he’s loved!

-J R R TolkienHello gang!
I didn’t know which board to put this in… but I’ll follow Nam’s example!
I got a couple of PYO phoenix (what’s the plural of phoenix?? Phoenixes just doesn’t seem quite right…) from the factory to paint for them, and my first one was inspired by the Red Golden Pheasant. What an absolutely magnificent bird! So showy and ornate that it’s ridiculous. I may have gotten a little ambitious with my choice because this guy took a looooong time!I pulled up some pictures of granite for reference when I did the rock, and totally disregarded them. Ha! I just broke loose and had fun. Hopefully it actually looks like a real rock!
This guy has blue and green interference paint on his neck feathers and some feathers on the backs of his wings, and more blue on the tips of his tail feathers. Other liberties were taken with those bits, too, so he doesn’t look exactly like the real bird, but heck he’s a phoenix not really a pheasant. 😉
I like him best with the yellow eyes, but the red eyes aren’t bad either… maybe Windstone will offer him with the option of choosing? I’ll ask.

-J R R TolkienAugust 28, 2010 at 6:36 am in reply to: Copper Cowry dragons coming soon to an Ebay near you #808297Remember these guys? They got put on hold for a bit, but the Hatching Empress and Hatching Emperor are getting shipped to the factory almost as I speak. So they will be for sale very soon! The young dragon is staying home with me for a bit longer so I can match a few of the other dragons up to the color scheme.
I’ve also got some lovely PYO phoenixes that I’ll be painting this coming week… I’ve got a few inspirations already, but if anyone knows of some fabulous birds (or other pretty things) to feed to my muse, do post them! 😉

-J R R TolkienI did it!
Mostly. I made my 50,000 – even went 400 words over last night. But I’m a long way from the end of the book! I’d say if I worked at the same pace, which I probably won’t, I’m another good two weeks away… so probably another month! We’ll see. Wow, some days were so hard and others so very easy. What a roller coaster. So much fun!"He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."
-J R R TolkienYeek… only a few days to go… I’m a little behind on my wordcount but not bad. I won’t be done with the actual story though, so I’ll only half succeed in NANOWRIMOing it if I make the 50,000 words in 30 days. I think at 50,000 words I’ll still have about a third of the story left to go…

-J R R TolkienHey, I appreciate semantics! 😉 Thanks
