Sun Dragon Koi #3Actually that’s about right, maybe even low for an original. At Cons and Ren Faires work like that goes for between $100-300 depending on the size and popularity of subject matter/artist. I have prints from artists like NeNe Thomas and Ruth Thompson that I bought for $75-100. Some of my NeNe pieces are worth thousands now and these are just prints not the originals. If you matted and framed it then it could be sold for even more.

Sun Dragon Koi #3I will have my roommate check with her father. We live very near Chicago and we have the mills, so we have a lot of people working with steel, bronze etc. Her dad said this was the cheapest place in the whole country to do bronze work.

Sun Dragon Koi #3My roommate thought you might be able to get them cast for $500 or so around here. That’s why I was asking. She’d have to check with her father though. He knows all the good foundries with the best prices. That would still leave you with a nice profit, particularly if they sell for the cost for a SK. I don’t know how that compares to your area or if it’s accurate but her dad would have a good idea becuase he does bronzes. Significantly larger bronzes than a Windstone piece.

Sun Dragon Koi #3I read a post somewhere that discussed bronze Windstone pieces. Melody had said they were too expensive to produce. My question was did you check out the prices in Chicago? My roommate’s father does bronze sculptures and it was cheaper to cast it in the midwest and ship it to California than it was to cast it there. We’re talking several hundred pounds. He says casting in Chicago was the cheapest place to cast bronzes.

Sun Dragon Koi #3For the Windstone auctions could you accept other types of payment besides Paypal and then credit the gift certificates towards the total. It could be a way around not being able to use them toward auction purchases.
For the paper ones sent in the mail. Give them a unique serial number that the owner then has to type into to identify the Gift Cert. With a database of outstanding cert numbers you could update it as they’re cashed in so no duplication occurs. Just let People cashing in Certs know it’ll take an extra day or so to process the order. People don’t mind waiting if they know up front.Looking for Blue Fawn Baby Kirin

Sun Dragon Koi #3I’m just a little sensitive. Someone posted my ebay account and actions I participated in and then suggested Windstone might want to keep people without any or a lot of feedback from participating. All I wanted to point out was that nonforum members do read these posts. I was really upset that someone had assumed I wasn’t real.

Sun Dragon Koi #3I can understand your frustration about the person messing with the auctions. I was just reading these posts about auctions I bid in and other comments about not letting people without lots of feedback participate and it bothered me. It turned out the person bidding on the SKs was real and it’s not fair to assume that someone isn’t a real person or they won’t pay just becuase you don’t recognize the name or they don’t have a lot of feedback. You all have been very nice to me, but imagine how you would feel if you actually won an auction but everyone assumed you weren’t real so you didn’t get the piece.
People beside forum members read these posts and see what people say. You might not mean to offend someone or drive them away but some of it could be taken that way. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt until they show their true colors. Excluding newbies only hurts Windstone, they have the auction records and are doing everything they can to remedy any injustice from this fraudulent bidder.Looking for Blue Fawn Baby Kirin
