I’ve started looking for a house since I’m transferring to a different facility for work and the homes within my budget are either in a crappy city I don’t want to live in, cash-only, or have super tiny yards (I want space for chickens, it’s part of the reason why I want to move!).

There was one house that had a good yard but needed work, but was priced well enough that I’d have money to do some fixes. The day I talk to my realtor about it, it goes off the market and I think the selling agent started ghosting my realtor.

I found another house that had a decent amount of what I wanted and was within budget so my realtor set up a showing, then it was cancelled after an hour because the sellers decided to take it off the market! Of all the houses I’ve been unable to look at/buy/finance this one was the biggest slap in the face.

Found a third house that I was willing to work with but my realtor’s request for a showing got immediately rejected. I’m hoping it was just the time of the showing request wasn’t workable but I didn’t hear anything back about it yet.

My one saving grace is that since I’m transferring within my company I have a bit of time to find a house. It’s so demoralizing getting hit with constant rejections though.

Thank you everyone for the kind words… it’s been a tough month, but I’m glad I have a couple real friends still floating around here <3

I also just got back from spending $880 at the vet to get a drain put in because my cat Faye has an abscess on her hind leg that burst. I never even knew it was there until it was too late. The vet said it’s so large that there is a possibility of her age and how good she can fight off the infection the wound could go necrotic and she could lose the leg. It’s not super likely, but of course me being as ultra paranoid as I am, the thought has put me in panic mode and I’m mentally preparing to have to put her to sleep if this doesn’t heal. I’ll know more in a week when I go back to get the drain removed.

November is shaping up to be as awesome as October. I just want 2024 to get here.

Oh drag0nfeathers my heart goes out to you with your recent kitty troubles. We had put one of our cats down a week ago. She came inside at the end of the night the Saturday before Halloween and was fine. Then on Sunday she never sat by the front door asking to be let out. She stayed curled up on a chair all day only getting down once to get food and was very wobbly/achey when she did. I called the vet she had seen previously first thing Monday morning, but the wouldn’t be able to get her in until Halloween afternoon. Knowing that might be too long I called another local vet and they were able to get her in before noon that day.

My husband dropped her off and we spent the next week waiting for positive updates. She had a fever, wasn’t eating or drinking, was barely moving, her white cell count was off, and the vet couldn’t figure out why. She was put on fluids, given antibiotics, had multiple tests to check for things and everything came back negative – cancer, fiv, felv. Her signs pointed to the dry form of fip, but we finally got those results back and they were negative too. She spent the entire week at the vet and didn’t show improvement. The vet offered to let us take her home on Friday in hopes that maybe she’d improve in familiar surroundings. She ate a bite or two when she got home, then curled up. We gave her the medication she was sent home with. She barely ate on Saturday. Sunday she refused everything. We could tell she was hurting even through her medication so made the decision to call on Monday so she could go peacefully. She’s buried in between the house and the park office in a quiet spot she won’t be disturbed. The vet was so sorry she couldn’t figure out what happened.

We miss our Squeaker so much.

Pegasi nooooooo… I’m so sorry. That’s awful. I had the same thing happen last Christmas with my tuxedo as well, Haru. We never did figure out what was wrong with her. Same symptoms, not eating, high fever, lethargic, barely able to walk, very wobbly… Tons of tests, negative for everything but her lymphocyte count was very high, suggesting lymphoma but they said I’d have to take her to a specialist to find out. I thought for sure she was going to pass and we were planning to take her after the holiday if she didn’t improve to end her suffering, but there was a Christmas miracle and she steadily got better with 2 scripts of Amoxie Drop. (treated her for an unknown infection basically to reduce the fever) It was so mysterious. We have no idea what brought it on and probably never will. She’s still with us now, but I’m always nervous it will come back. I’m so sorry your story didn’t have a happy ending. My worst nightmare is when my pets have health issues. I swear it’s like having a sick child that just can’t tell you what’s wrong and you never know when you’re making the right decision or not. I hate it so much. Big hugs for you and you dearly departed furbaby <3 Again, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Here we are two weeks later… Faye is still hanging on but she is in horrible shape. The wound is slowly healing but it still seems infected and she still won’t eat…

Flash back to Nirvanacat sending me some medicine she had leftover from one of her cats with a similar issue… they day it arrived in the mail is the day I was already heading to the vet and I had received a different script for her infection, so I didn’t end up using it. I used the script the vet had prescribed for a week and not much changed. She had a drain put in and we took a culture of the bacteria and changed her medication to something stronger… another week and still she is declining, but Wednesday we got the results back from the culture… it’s not cancer he tells me… how is she doing? I tell him no change… He says well he’s not surprised. Those meds I’ve been using aren’t going to work. She has a type of bacteria that requires a very specific medication for her… guess what it is… THE SAME THING CAT SENT ME TWO WEEKS AGO! So for two weeks she has been on completely ineffective meds while I had ones Cat sent me that she needed but I went by the vets prescribed meds thinking that was me being smart… I feel sick.

We stared the new meds right away, I ran and picked them up before they closed for Thanksgiving. She just had her 3rd dose this morning and we’re just hoping it’s not too late…

I’m also so sorry for all the recent Fur Baby losses – they are so difficult this close to the Holidays. HUGZ to All of You! Hope your Holidays are Extra-Special with memories!

This is something a little different, and I’m not sure where I should put this little comment but here is probably good…..
As some know, my husband passed last year. I was so busy last Holiday season with taking care of accounts, Social Security, IRS , Medical bill issues, etc. as well as still recovering myself from our car accident, that missing my hubby didn’t hit me as hard as I thought it might. Probably because I WAS so busy dealing with all the other stuff that I really didn’t have time to think about it – just getting task after task after task done. Well – it’s finally hitting me hard this Holiday Season…. in fact in some ways it snuck up me and got me emotional a few times since October, our Anniversary month, through Thanksgiving. I imagine Christmas will hit me a little harder as well. I am starting to feel better though, so I know it will be better as the years go by. I just need to work through the memories and move forward.

And I do have some fun at times – well, I have a very dry sense of humor that can be morbid at times, so this makes ME inwardly laugh, you may or may not think so…. ^_~ This is the time of year for Medicare Sign-ups for those getting it, and the phone calls from Medicare providers and scammers can be excessive begining in late October with several phone calls a day between 9am – 9pm! In early October I committed Tony’s urn into our burial plot. Tony has been on Medicare for two years, so I keep receiving the phone calls….. It was so much fun to tell one of them this morning when she asked for him:

Caller: Hello, is Mr. Anthony there?
Me: Who may I ask is calling?
Caller: I’m “” calling about a Medicare plan for Mr. Anthony.
Me: I’m sorry he’s no longer is at this address, would you like his new address?
Caller: We have Mr. Anthony at “””””” “”””” ???
Me: No, he is no longer at this address, he is at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Cemetary Plot #
*brief silence*
Caller: Oh, I’m so sorry – we’ll update our records. Thank you.

Hi all

I’m here because I want to whine. I have an abscess in my armpit. It is excruciatingly painful. I have been to the doctor; we did surgery, and it’s open and draining. However, the wound has to be changed and repacked daily. I know it has to be done. I am having it done (because I can’t reach the wound, so someone has to torture me daily), but I really don’t want to. The pain make me nauseous and dizzy. So I’m just gonna say it. I DONT WANNA. I REALLY REALLY DONT WANNA.
