No, 9 wasn’t way too many at all. Especially considering a pretty generous amount of time is given.

Hey! I saw someone say there should be a thread where people can share how they first found Windstone Editions
That was me!! 🙂
so we planned our honeymoon to Las Vegas…..just so I could see this “dragon store”!
WOW! Now that’s love! 😛
Anyhow, here’s my story of Windstone discovery… I was 11 or 12 (I can remember that because I still shared a room with my sister, which only lasted until I was 13). I’d already been in love with dragons for some years. I’d made a self-made dragon poster with a bunch of dragon images I’d printed out from online, haha.
When visiting my cousin once, she had a peacock male dragon on her desk in her room. I’d never seen such an amazing dragon! I insisted that she tell me where she’d gotten it, and she and her parents took me to the store. They had only one dragon at the time, an emerald (orange eyed) mother dragon, and I snatched her up. I paid less than one hundred dollars for her- I think only 70 or 80 bucks! I had the money at the time, for some reason, despite being a child. I believe that was when I also got one of the old little Windstone booklets with the original dragon family in it and several other creatures. I kept that booklet and I’m pretty sure it’s still around somewhere, although I don’t know where anymore! 🙁 Whenever I find it again, I’ll probably display it with my dragons. My parents gave me a slight scolding for purchasing something so “expensive” without their permission, but they let me keep her. I named her Falkor after the luckdragon in The Neverending Story, and she lived on my dresser. Some months after that, when I found out there was a store in the mall that sometimes had those dragons, I went there with my mom. They had a few, but my mom didn’t want me to get anything bigger than the young dragon (she might’ve been paying for it that time; I can’t remember), so after begging without success for the male dragon, I went home with a peacock young. His name was/is Vincent (after Vincent Price).
It was a number of years before I bought any others- not until after I’d moved out of my parents’ house later on. I’ve bought all the rest of mine online. Each of my dragons (and my protoceratops) has a name, and they’re all named after something/someone. But anyway, that’s my story of discovery. 😛 I obviously discovered this forum rather later on (I’m 26 now), but I’m glad I finally did!

I’ve thought the same thing about those bookends. 🙂

Submitted my pictures yesterday. Hope they were received alright.
It is okay for a picture to contain more than one of the object, such as more than one bird, isn’t it? I don’t want to be disqualified!Formerly had the Batman & Joker avatar!
Hi, and welcome! I love reading about peoples’ discovery of Windstones- if there’s not a specific thread for that yet, someone ought to make one.
I wish you luck with growing your collection, and I wish myself luck with that, too. I have several Windstone dragons now (plus a hatching protoceratops), but there are several others I’m eager to buy. It’s just that stupid thing called money stopping me (or slowing me, rather).
I have a dragon I really should get repaired too- it’s my orange-eyed emerald mother dragon, which was my first and I didn’t take as excellent care of her as I should have at first, so she has about 3 small chips. I’d like to send her off to one of our wonderful repairing members but I just really dread the idea of putting her in the mail (and I’m lazy, and a wee bit poor)…
Anyway! Maybe now you feel better you’re not the only one who made a long post! 😛 Enjoy yourself at the forum! 🙂

^I might end up doing that, because I’d love that emp and I love some of my photos, but if I genuinely love someone else’s photos enough, I’ll be kind and vote for them! 😛

^I’m guessing any kind of bird counts!
No, you can vote even if you entered. 🙂
Oh, so we can vote for ourselves? 😛 Lol!

Are entrants disqualified from voting?
I know we have until the 29th, but I got so excited I got busy and shot & chose nearly all the pictures over the weekend. Haha.

I see, guess that keeps it simple and also a little more fair for someone who can’t work something very good out for 1 or 2 of the shots! 🙂

I’m curious about how the voting will work. Will people vote on sets of pictures, as in choosing whose group of pictures they like best, or will they vote on photos individually and then whoever tallies up with the most total votes wins?

This sounds like fun, and I’d love a chance to win an emperor by Melody (I don’t have any very unique Windstones yet!), so it looks like I’ll be entering my first quest! 🙂

I have an online friend in Argentina that I’ve been buddies with since 2005, and yesterday he met Ciruelo (yes, the famous dragon artist) and got him to sign his newest book for me and is putting it in the mail! That’s a “heck yeah” if I ever heard one! I saw a picture of the autograph and Ciruelo addressed it to me by name and everything. 😀

Beautiful collection, Cassandra. 🙂

I’ve got a question, too. I have an orange-eyed emerald mother dragon. I’m definitely not planning on selling her, but I’m curious to know an estimate of how much an orange-eyed emerald mother is worth. Mine’s not quite mint condition, but tell me the estimate for mint, if anyone has any idea. I’m intrigued to know. 😀 She was my first Windstone and I had no idea for a lot of years that she was a bit rare!

I met my husband online around late 2004- not on a dating site, but in a Yahoo chatroom. It was a car chatroom and we were both just chatting for fun, not looking for romance or anything. We added each other to our friends’ list and ended up chatting with Yahoo Messenger a lot. At that time I was living with my parents, going to community college and working. We had a lot of main interests in common, very similar senses of humor, great chemistry etc. Our interest in cars first brought us together and we were never short on movies or music to talk about, and our opinions & views on SOOOO many things matched! He even had long hair, which I’d always wanted in a guy, lol. Overall it was pretty clear we were perfect for each other, but at first I was pretty adamant about not wanting to meet anyone from online.
Well, after nearly a year of chatting, he flew from Colorado to California with a friend of his who was attending a wedding, and he basically insisted on meeting me. I gave in and he came over and met my family and I all at once. It went well with us in person as well so we took turns visiting each other over the next year, and after completing my second year of college I moved out here to Colorado to be with him. It was kind of hard on my parents the way I left with them not knowing him very well and them wishing we were married before living together, but my parents maintained a good relationship with us the whole time and I/we visit at *least* once a year (in addition to keeping in frequent contact).
I was only 19 when I made that move out here! After living together for 3 years, we got married. Been married for 4 now and we are happy. 🙂 And we don’t have all those typical BS complaints about each other that so many people in relationships have. Lol, that was one thing we talked about in our chatting days, too!Formerly had the Batman & Joker avatar!
