This partial-albino Kirin was my first official PYO project of 2017, begun in May and finished in June or July.
I’ve wanted to do a partial albino/piebald Kirin for years, ever since I interned at a wildlife rehabilitation center and was completely charmed by an unreleasable piebald fawn named Benji who lived there.

Sometimes I couldn’t bring myself to scold him for doing something destructive/crazy because he was just too funny and cute!
After a lot of research and sketching and ordering my PYO and sketching on it and further research, I started painting. First the dark areas:

Once I had his spotting mapped out (in flat color), I painted the white areas, shaded his brown parts, antiqued each with the appropriate color, and sealed:

Okay, so this is not an urgent squeak, because I actually [i]really[/i] love Blue Morpho and don’t want it to retire for a long time!
But when it does retire, is it too much to hope for a Sapphire color to replace it? We’ve had Ruby and Emerald, and I’ve been waiting years for a nice Sapphire to complete the precious stone trio! I’m old-fashioned and adore the monochrome “gem” color schemes from the ‘olden days’ of Windstone colors, and we haven’t had a blue like that yet. 🙂

I think the Ocean Blue and Mineral Spring OWs are my absolute top two favorite test OWs, though Pink Copper Pearl is right on their heels. ♥ I often wonder who has them (and with the Mineral Spring, wonder which eye color they ended up choosing) and if they’ll ever find their way back to the forums.

Siren Song is a pretty colour, although I wonder how it would look with light coloured eyes like maybe aqua or teal coloured?
I agree! (And I must say, grey/silver eyes would be absolutely stunning!) I like an eye with some contrast.

Test paint Lap Dragons: Pearl Steel Blue, Blue Ice, Pink Champagne, Copper Lilac, Indigo Ice Cloud, and probably several more. (I keep wanting to make a thread for “post pics of old test paints that you might have squirreled away on your hard drive, since the WE gallery seems to be missing some and I need more to drool over” – and I’m sure there are more out there than even the old Gallery showed!)
Test paint OWs: Pink Copper Pearl, Mineral Spring, Ocean Blue, Lavender Blue, Lavender Rose.
Test paint Griffins: the Tan x Tabby babies, Frosted Jade adults, the Ocellated Turkey adults, and the Black Rainbow female.
Other test paints: original Silver Koi male Kirin.
Non-test paint items: White Secret Keeper, Copper Patina Lap, black GB Sitting Red Fox, dark grey GB Sitting Red Fox, Shell Pink Lap, Rainbow OW.
(Does anyone know if there was ever an “Ocean Shadow” Moon Oriental test paint? I think the color predated the Moon, but figure it doesn’t hurt to ask…)

While I think the Mineral Spring male is very pretty, I have to say that I found the name really confusing; I ran across it before looking here and actually had to click on the auction to see that it wasn’t a secondhand Rainbow, because it looks nothing like the “Mineral Spring” test paint that I remembered Windstone producing:
