I use a lot of Liquitex paints (the kind in the tubes), but also Delta Ceramcraft and a number of “cheapo” brands.
For some of the effects/details I do, I have variously used a Liquitex gloss varnish, Pearl-Ex powders, color-shift paint (I forgot the brand name, sorry!), metal leafing, or Jacquard ‘Lumiere’ paints. (And Swarovski crystals!)
For me, I’ve found that having good brushes is more important than having expensive paint; I don’t go all-out, but definitely see a difference between the cheapest brushes and those in the $10-15 range, so those are what I usually buy. (Older, worn-out brushes that lose their precise shape get used for blending or large-area application, so although I have to replace my detail brushes fairly often, their working lifespan is longer than the replacement time suggests.)

I can only hope this means you’re testing out Oriental casting again, and we might finally see some Moon Orientals in Peacock, and other members of the Oriental family getting restocked, too?? <3

I have a Sun Ori, but not a Moon Ori, for the simple reason that my Oriental family is Peacock and no Peacock Moon Orientals have ever been produced yet. 🙁

Since we’ve had the Calypso Hearth Dragons appear in the store, I’d like to squeak for more LP dragons in Calypso, please! (Laps, Laps, Laps!) 🙂 And LP Calypso griffins, hoofers, wizards, etc. if other people are squeaking for them. (I’ll squeak for a Mouse Wizard!)
Melody said somewhere that they would not do more calypso production pieces, only the hearth.

What a beautiful conga, Bodine! Love the backdrop, too – is it a poster? It’s so neat how it curls around the display space to make a diorama scene!

I just saw the Desert Opal griffins! What gorgeous critters. I really hope this color turns into an LP store option someday soon; I would buy griffins and that adorable Mouse Wizard in an instant!
My other ‘doesn’t exist yet’ grail is the Moon Oriental in Peacock – I desperately want to complete my Oriental family! (Sitting Orientals in Peacock are on my Most Wanted list, too.)
As far as grails that already exist go, I’m still hoping for a few more Lap Dragons for the conga, particularly blue/green ones like Glacial Pearl, Water Sprite, and Indigo Ice. I’d really love to have the Opulence and TP Pastel Rainbow Laps, too.
Speaking of test paints: does anyone here have photos of the older test paint colors, or records of what colors were painted on what sculpts? When I go looking through photos I’ve saved, I often can’t tell whether a Lap was ever produced in a certain color because I’ve only got one or two pics, even when I’m sure there were more dragons made. (Some examples: Coyote, Daydream, Ocean, Winter Storm) I’d love to see more TP Lap photos from “long ago” in anyone has them!

I’ve got a CP Lap, but I keep hoping we’ll get a restock one day with the bright/dark divide, because my current Lap is on the darker/bronze-y side and I’d like a chance to get a bright one, too. <3 Love this color, especially with the teal eyes. (Though I have wondered what they’d look like with gold or brown eyes, too…)

Very neat color-changing hippocampus. Seems like a useful trick for hanging out on coral reefs! 🙂

Gina, the Desert Opal is FABULOUS on the griffins and the flapcats!! I’d definitely buy those griffins if they became an LP color in the store! The Mouse Wizard, too.
