This guy on Facebook is selling resin cat gargoyles that look like they might be recasts of Melody’s work, but I’m not sure.

Lovely pics! So many adorable trees too!

My mom had most the ornaments but I ended up with her small tree when she moved into the new place (and they have 3 full size trees so she didn’t want her old one). I think the ornaments must be with most of her leftover stuff at my brother’s house but can’t visit until Covid is over to see. No worries. It means this year my tree has upgraded (mine is barely half the size of mom’s, so barely above holiday card height, hahaha). So here’s our Christmas tree for the year!

I got us both bird ornaments to commemorate our first winter dating. Case’s bird is on the left in a green scarf, mine is the one in an ugly sweater and reindeer headband.

Hm. I’ve updated my list to 3 that I would love to get.

              1. This particular mystery rainbow tiger bantam. Looks like in it’s forever home.

              FB_IMG_1605655593354

              2. One of the yellow-orange with peach hints bantams (reminded me of a grapefruit skin color, might be 176A and B or something but I’m guessing on the number). Sorry, no pic of those to offer for it. I’m sure there were 2 extra copies made. It’s possible they’ll hit Ebay because a few that weren’t on the extra list did after the Kickstarter sales, so I’m hopeful about grabbing one if it does.

              3. A male or OW in either the colors of #2 listed above or the Sunshine color scheme or something similar.

Maybe a couple other test paints or something fun and jewel tone, but hey, these are the ones I can actually pin down as specific desired pieces. Maybe one day! If not I’ll enjoy the owners’ pics and continue dreaming. 😁

Lol, that can go wrong in so many wonderful ways!

Nice! That’s a lovely OW! He looks like he’s content with just lounging there and watching over the kiddos indulgently, lol.

I’m (trying) to hold off on buying (ah, temptation). Gotta squeeze in Christmas presents (for others) this year and that means additional dragons are on hold.

I like his colors! At first the asymmetry kinda threw me off but then I realized he’s the colors of a Monet painting. I’m in!

When life gives you lemons, what do you do?

                      A. Make lemonade.
                      B. Curse.
                      C. Hunt down the trees responsible and hang a hammock up between.
                      D. Set up a lemonade stand.
                      E. Send it a thank you card, citrus are a traditional gift in winter.
                      F. Ask for a gift receipt.
                      G. Return to sender.
                      H. Regift! White elephant anyone?
                      I. There must be a way to turn it into a consumable alcohol product, let’s experiment!
                      J. Add a cute umbrella.
                      K. Call Food Network. This will make a great Iron Chef episode.
                      L. Try growing more lemon trees. Trees is good. World needs more trees anyway.
                      M. Forget lemonade, I’ve a whole recipe book…
                      N. Forget a recipe book, it works with my tea.
                      O. Shhh… old invisible ink method used by spies, you’re not supposed to know.

Admit it, you’re smiling now. 🙂

Added a couple to the bantam conga… horde… lol.

Left to right: 134, production rainbow, 37B, 102 (“Tesla”), mystery rainbow tiger, T5 (dark blue, 3 wing stripes, gold trim), T14 (light blue, gold trim), T19 (light blue, wing stripes, silver trim).

I love them and would love more but you know… money… can’t always afford another right away!

I agree that the eyes should compliment an accent color on the dragon. I want it to be noticeable but not clashing. To me red eyes on a red dragon just are too much of the same. Likewise red eyes on a green dragon are a big clash if there’s not even a hint of orange. My sand tiger bantams have the blue eyes as light or dark to match the blue wings which looks perfect to me. But I usually love my dragons more for their paint work than their eyes.

Still, I admit part of what sold me on the “alien dragon” was his eerie almost black eyes complimenting his almost spooky black, red and gold colors. He’s a good example of how eyes can make a big difference in how a dragon looks!

I felt the poll done on FB was pretty cool. You could see how different eyes looked in the new dragon color and it really did help the overall appeal.

So good news despite Chicago now being the national hub for Covid (ugh):
                              I got engaged!

My bf asked me on Sunday at the bookstore cafe where we first met and had our first date. In fact he did so where we literally stood at that moment. It was cute because he said, “I think this is where I want to ask you to marry me.” Because he’d pulled some false alarms (obvious ones) where he’d just kneel and ask me to help him up or hold him while he ties his shoe, I thought nothing of it and just said, “Okay”. Until he actually knelt and pulled out a ring this time, when I said, “Wait… you mean NOW? Really?” and he asked again and I said yes, much to the joy of the 2 barista girls who were our only witnesses in the currently abandoned store, lol.

So I’m a little scatterbrained still from it all, haha. A fun shock. No plans yet, but we’ll figure that out as the world settles to normal, not right now.

Lol! No worries, most the terminology is my attempt at describing it, nothing else! And if you figured all that out on your own then you’re doing it right in my opinion. Things like shaping the face is really just trial and error stitching. The rest is adapting from one kind to another as needed for what you intend. Mine aren’t perfect either, you can tell from green’s wing stitching going all over the place (he was my first try with a machine!). And my “embroidery” there is just overlapping stitches, nothing else. Errors happen, just hide them good, lol! So that’s a damn good bird you made for pure handstitch!

You made one cool terror bird already. Is it the start of a family of evolving talent? Should we expect more? That’d be cool!

PS, if you want to consider using a machine, I recommend getting advice on a good old one from a sewing group. Cheap, easy to care for, and can sew through anything (whereas new ones are finicky little brats if you have 3 pieces of cloth), and last forever (or like my inherited beast, probably would survive WWIII unharmed). Plus the vintage groups have manuals online for most brands. But they’d know whats a good and simple workhorse to get and advice on how to learn to use it.

Glad you like these 2 old guys tho! They were fun to wear around on Halloween, lol! If you want, Pips, I’ll hunt out the old patterns and see if there’s anything left in my bins. I doubt they’re being sold online anymore but I might be able to share mine with you. It might be after the holidays tho.

She’s really talented. I’ll try to get more pics of stuff she makes over the next couple weeks if you guys want. It’s all well below your $30 budget, in fact she undersells her talent a lot (we keep telling her to sell higher than she does). If anyone wants anything they see, let me know!
