I don’t see a choice lotto working any better than the blind grab bag. More than one person wanting the same sculpt is the big issue. Just look at how the KS bantams had varying numbers liking the same thing and some not being liked at all. If your first choice is gone, just like with the qi lin grab bag, people will be trying to trade for their #1 favorite.
I don’t think a lotto will prevent trading in the least because there’s always a #1 that’s different for everyone, you’d have to do custom paintjobs on each to resolve that. Or a uniform sculpt offer like the desert opal cats will reduce it. I worry that trying to match all the babies will essentially have Melody doing custom job work anyway. There doesn’t seem to be any actual solution to make everyone happy. In which case I suggest just paint what you feel like, Melody, go at it like this last grab bag, and let us fans sort ourselves out.
We are all supposed to be reasonable adults. Buy at the risk of getting not your favorite or what you want, or else don’t buy at all! You know what you’re getting into. There will always be someone else who likes it, if not now maybe later, but if that’s a lot of money to risk blindly then wait to buy it secondhand from someone else when you know what you’re getting. The markup is the cost of taking the plunge. Same with shipping. Same is the possibility your #1 will not be possible regardless what you do. You weigh what you’re willing to risk and how much that piece means to you financially. Also weigh if you can emotionally handle it if it doesn’t go the way you want it! We just need to be responsible for our decisions because in the end it boils down to WE chose to chance on a random result. Windstone and Melody try hard to please because they’re absolute sweethearts but any results are the consequences of us choosing to participate and it’s not their responsibility to make us happy if it doesn’t fall in our favor. That’s handmade art for you. If you want certainties, I suggest Wayfair decor, lol.
Considering even hearths get traded, I don’t think size and shipping will stop anyone. I don’t recall seeing any big sculpts as grab bags tho. Wouldn’t those take a crazy long time to paint?

So a couple months ago a scan showed a severe compression fracture for L1 of my mom’s spine. What’s left is pretty much paper thin between her discs and pushed out all around, it’s ] laying down ends up. Docs literally looked at it, then her, then asked how is it she’s even walking and all pointed us at neurosurgery for an opinion how safe this is becsuse they were too scared to breathe at her without that opinion. Then they found stuff on her lungs that the radiologists labled as “likely malignant” even on the scan writeups (which wouldn’t surprise any of us because our dad smoked a LOT and we all inhaled a lot as a result, and he eventually died of cancer because of it). So the past couple months have been running around getting tests snd fearing the worst on all counts.
By some miracle and probably a lot of prayers, Mom dodged all of it. The spine fracture is deemed old and such a mess of scar tissue that it’s actually holding itself together enough that they feel it is best left alone, especially as it is not bothering her much. In short, the body is holding everything in place so they don’t want to mess with a good thing and possibly make anything worse and risk her life trying. The lung thing turned out to be not doing much of anything (malignant cancer utilizes body resources like crazy and apparently whatever she has is not), and therefore relegated to something we watch in case it actually does anything. We don’t know what it is, but unless it is malignant we have nothing to worry about. So long as it sits idle and lazy we’re good, and that seems to be its intent. If it’s a slow grower, at this rate it mom will be gone from other issues long before this can affect her. So all is good.
Phew!
I’ve been not watching these boards much lately, busy with a few big scares regarding my mom’s health that luckily resulted in nothing major. But it meant working late a lot and not doing much else as we figured all that out.
I’m so sorry, Ela. That’s awful. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. Sending love and prayers.

Sorry, double posted due to it not seeming to get those last pics through. Sorry!
Conga pics! They don’t fit in a single line anymore and a circle doesn’t do them justice… so… suggestions? 2 rows is the best lineup I canfigure out fir now.
(Odd man out far right blue green #28 in the last pic was rehomed and I got 3 more after these pics. This is just the last conga I did. Might squeeze in one more because I’m reluctant to pack them!)
*Sends good vibes at all of you*
I wish all of you less sadness and frustration and more happiness and peace.
March 10, 2022 at 6:59 pm in reply to: Ebay Male “Grey with blood stained eyes” Rare or not? #1655553I strongly suspect some kid got at the one eye with a red sharpie, thus why there’s red on the sculpt near the one glass eye, and no red on the other eye. It’s not rare, it’s technically “damaged”. It’s been up there forever.
March 10, 2022 at 6:50 pm in reply to: What’s your grail piece(s)? 2 (Also awesome news inside) #1655549Yay! I traded off one bantam but acquired 3 more (one won at Windstone’s Ebay auction, 2 from forum/FB members) thanks to a couple wonderful people and Windstone of course! The conga line grows!
Meet “Nightsong” (onyx moonstone),
“Thordak” (black and red 103B), and “Rosza” (orange, red, purple KS leftover auctioned by Windstone after the KS).I love the colorful ones you guys have shown! Koi is always beautiful but shows really well on them.
My only one is this little unwanted PYO with a skewed horn that I didn’t realize was peacock colors until he arrived. He needed a little paint touchups due to some unpainted spots and he has no painter’s name or felt, but he stole my heart when I saw him.
Eventual aims (most are no hurry due to future financial plans):
1. Yellow-orange bantam. He’s happily homed but we’re allowed to wish here.
2. A nice slightly unusual (like my boy) female griffin to join my old silver wolf male (he has white eyebrows and no black on his ears so he’s a little odd). Not sure what to get but just not one that has a beak that shades darker at the tip, somehow that bothers me on the white and some brown griffins.
3. A classy mint OW who can withstand sunlight safely. Maybe emerald.
4. A male old green that looks almost like a brown and an old brown that looks almost like a green.
5. More bantams. I still like the Kickstarter ones and some test paints but I’m trying to be picky about what I really want because A, that way I don’t spend too wildly and break the bank account, and B, I don’t want to be too greedy and keep others from bantam happiness.None of this is subject to change in the foreseeable future. Looking for more yellow orange and red to balance the bantam conga (which is mostly green, blue, purple). The other pices will turn up in due time and are better that way since there is house selling, construction, and moving in the future.
That happened to me too. I got one last year 2020 but thought we were grandfathered from that list to this year 2021. Seems not.
No worries, Melody. I’ll just sign up for sure for Christmas 2022!
