@Lokie
That is one fine looking poad there.@Kim
Ugh, bad neighbors are the worst. I can’t wait till I no longer have to live at my current apartment complex. My neighbors have been known to leave their empty cigarette boxes underneath my bike basket cover and will move my bike out from under the rain-protector if I don’t properly chain it to the bar so they can’t. Actually, someone from my complex stole my spare bike and my spare set of house keys out of my mailbox (I suspect for the key ring holder) a couple years back. And then there’s also the usual things you expect, like people leaving the mail room trashed and not cleaning out the lint filters for the dryers after they use them. Mostly people in Japan are very polite and try to be considerate of others, so I’m not sure how I ended up with such a disrespectful crowd, but there’s jerks everywhere I suppose.November 24, 2014 at 11:45 am in reply to: Quest 18 – Box Opening Quest – Entries open until 12/31 #922208Ah! Okay, all the information was in the extended T&C link. For some reason I thought when you said it had be edited into the original post, I thought you meant it was in the top post of this thread and not the link so I was confused. Sorry if it seemed like I wasn’t reading what you said; it was that I misunderstood the directions. I’m looking forward to making my entry and submitting it to you all. 🙂
I do have one question, though, actually, after reading the rules. What’s an IRS W-9 / W8-BEN form?
😮 ooooh I’m hoping for one too. :3
November 23, 2014 at 12:14 am in reply to: Quest 18 – Box Opening Quest – Entries open until 12/31 #922158Okay, so recently some folks and I were discussing video editing software for work so I thought I would share with the group what little I know!
-Windows Movie Maker is free and should already be on most PCs. It’s not very friendly though and can be a PITA to use, so just be aware of that.
-If you own a Mac, iMovie should already be on your OS for free. Also, if you have the latest iPhone it should be on there for free. If you have an iPad, you can apparently buy the app for 4.99. This software is really easy to use; I watched someone create a video on the fly of stuff they filmed in a meeting in under thirty minutes and managed to create a pretty slick film for how easy it was to set up. So yeah.
Kiya, I’m not sure if it was stated what qualities the judges are looking for? Also, are we supposed to email the file directly and you guys will share on the forums so people can vote, or are we supposed to upload to youtube?
I really can’t wait for this. I ordered a fourth gb poad half just so I could participate in this contest. 🙂
I don’t want to seem impatient but just curious about when we might see the bat eared foxes? Since the baby poads came out this month and are still in stock I didn’t know if the foxes were going to be a Thanksgiving treat or a December goody. Even a guesstimate time line is helpful when planning for these things. Very excited to see them, and hope to grab one for my collection 🙂 .
I know it was mentioned that GBs are usually once a month and we already had our November one. I think the once a month GB is perfect, it is exciting for the buyers and gives us something to look forward to and brings in sales for Windstone.I am also curious. I just ordered another gb poad but I kind of want/need to know if I’m going to be springing for a bat-eared fox soon too. Also, do we know how many there are going to be, roughly? I have missed all of the gbs for pebble foxes that I really really wanted to participate in (the arctic foxes, sadly, didn’t call to me… too similar) and I would really really like to be able to grab one of these but I also don’t want to get my hopes up if there’s not going to be a large batch since inevitably time differences and work always conspire against me when it comes to gb pebbles.
November 22, 2014 at 11:57 pm in reply to: 11/5/14 Grab Bag Baby Poad picture thread (Hoppies and Hippies) #922156Kim, from the description, I don’t think it’s Canada Post who opened the box. They don’t open boxes, only Customs would, and when they do, they put a special tape that says they opened it. I think someone took the box, opened it, didn’t like the poads (like, how rude!), repacked it and put it back on the porch.
You’ll never know if it was the neighbour or someone else, though… No matter, they’re safe now!
Better that they didn’t like the poads than they did though. That would have been super sad if they’d never ended up in the proper place. Sounds like CP needs to update their computer systems so they have Kim’s correct address; it would be really bad if this happened again, especially with the holidays just around the corner.
I would love to hear how people seal their statues after working them in pastel. Do you use spray, or can you use the liquid kind you paint on?
🙁 Oh no. Poor Kiki is just having a rotten time right now; when it rains it really pours. Since these are related issues, is it likely that Kiki will continue to have problems until the mass can be removed? Or are you all now reconsidering the possibility of it being adrenal disease and not a tumor after all?
I wish I could do more to help you financially but I’m tapped out at the moment. Hopefully some other members will be able to request commissions so that you can rebuild your savings for the surgery. I will keep you and Kiki in my thoughts Kujacker.
Really? I don’t want to sound like I must know better, but are you certain he can’t return it? Most stores have a policy that you can return a product within a certain time limit as opposed to if it’s been opened.
November 22, 2014 at 1:22 pm in reply to: 11/5/14 Grab Bag Baby Poad picture thread (Hoppies and Hippies) #922133Those are both really lovely poads Kim, the hippie especially! I bet someone will want to trade for the orange-eyed sherbety looking one. 🙂
I broke down and ordered another gb poad for myself last night. I was too worried to wait for a possible kitsune restock; I will just order those separately at some point when they come back. I think the little guy should arrive in time for Christmas–but I won’t be allowing myself to open to the box to find out what he looks like until then.

I’m still waiting to hear about whether or not we might get a kitsune restock because I’d really like one or two for Christmas too if I could manage it, but I’m starting to think I might need to just go ahead and bite the bullet and get another one of these little guys anyway.
Japan? 😀 And cheapest option. Because I am not made of money bags 🙁
Did you have any details or patterns you were specifically considering?
Would the orientals be considered very very distant kin then?
I wonder when the ultimate last-day you can send packages and still expect them to arrive in time for Christmas is….
