Windstone has been the only bright point of this holiday season for me.
I was planning to finalize my divorce on November 3rd, but found out there’s a parenting class we both have to take. I guess that’s what I get for thinking we could do an uncontested divorce without paying thousands of dollars for legal services.
So we sign up for the class, and the next available class we can get into is January 5th! I really wanted to start this year fresh, back to my maiden name – I know it’s just a few days past the new year, but it still bothers me quite a bit.
We’ve been officially separated since I moved out in February – but our marriage was really over last September. I had to live with him for 5 months until I could get my own apartment, which made last Christmas super crappy and uncomfortable – I thought this year would be better.
But he has me constantly worried about the cars that are still in my name, that he is behind on payments. Other than paying the payments myself (which I can’t afford) my credit is at his mercy. Then when it was time for my kids to spend the weekend at his house, and his phone is disconnected because he didn’t pay the bill. So I have to let my kids go over there with no way to contact me if something is wrong – luckily they’re next door to their grandparents, or I might not have let them go. Not to mention trying to plan Christmas Eve and Day without being able to contact him…
It could be worse…I could still be with him, right? I’m just super stressed by this holiday season, and I am looking forward to it being over.
If I were going to add more red, I think I would do the center line of scales down his chest and the spines of the wings.
At the suggestion from this forum, I used Apoxie Sculpt. It was a bit of a learning curve, because I’m used to GreenStuff from my miniature wargaming days, and you really do need to let it sit after you mix it for at least 5 minutes before you start using it. Still, I like how it isn’t too hard to work with after 10 minutes, and I’m sure I will learn to be better with it. I can really see the advantages if I ever need to do a larger repair – if I need to do a lot of detailing, it will be a godsend.
I only paid about $15 including shipping, so I think I got a good deal, even with the repairs needed! But I bought him to practice repairs, it just so happens peacock is my favorite color scheme!
I got my card yesterday, it’s gorgeous. Windstone really makes this feel like a community, not just a business. 🙂

My youngest daughter wants the wolf painted like a husky, my middle daughter wants a pink dragon, and my oldest daughter wants a blue and gold ki-rin.
I’ve got my work cut out for me.
Melody, I am very glad you enjoyed your gifts! It was a bit like being asked to buy a Christmas present for a childhood hero!
I shipped on November 30th, but now the tracking is saying the package is delayed. :/ No estimate of delivery now. At least it’s closer to the recipient.
This is worse than a season cliffhanger! My package is in the recipient’s town, and it says sorting is completed – does that mean it’s delivering today? I don’t know!
I’m sure I’m more impatient for it to arrive than the recipient. Hehe.
I love the top of the tail as you’ve painted it. Looking at the picture you referenced, it seems like the tail starts light, gets dark in the middle, and is white again at the tip. I would worry about leaving the tail completely black because of all the beautiful details that will be difficult to see. Perhaps lighten towards the end with a darker part in the middle? Just my thoughts.

The recipient liked him very much. I hope everyone noted the jewels. I don’t know how much they stand out in the pictures, but it’s a nice effect in person.
