Rosedust is still my favorite GB Young everrrrrr <3_<3 SO pretty!
LOL I was PMing her about this right as you were writing it, I think. My PM was sent at exactly the same time your message came up.
O.O WAT DO?
September 24, 2011 at 10:18 pm in reply to: ‘Fantasy’ 9/22/11 Grab Bag Young Unicorn batch discussion/picture thread #857913*grabby haaaaands* I think he’s gorgeous.
Haha! I second the grabby hands, I think he’s lovely too Kiya! Sorry he isn’t your cup of tea, but with his cute patterning I know you will have no trouble trading him for one you love, and this is what the GB items are all about. <3
THANK YOU for clarifying Pam! These are easy rules to follow.
I was thinking of printing up a “Certificate of INauthenticity” to keep with any repaint I did in the future that explains what the color was, why it was repainted, and all of the legal disclaimer-type stuff that goes with these. Seems like most collectors store their COAs anyway, so if something like an estate sale were to happen, well, if the COAs for the pieces were found the COinA would be with them too. Another way to document the repaint… Would this be helpful or hurtful for Windstone?
SORRYTOBUMPTHISTHREAD O.O
September 24, 2011 at 9:05 pm in reply to: ‘Fantasy’ 9/22/11 Grab Bag Young Unicorn batch discussion/picture thread #857893Whoa Kiya, don’t sell yourself short, there is always someone who really likes what another collector doesn’t like, with all the various tastes around here. 😉
Thanks for the clarification Hannah. 🙂 I’ll keep an eye on this and see what John comes back with in a week as far as rules go.
I love repaints when they serve the purpose of giving life to a formerly ruined piece, but agree that allowing photos of them on the forum is a subtle acknowledgement that they’re ok.
I’ll miss the photos. 🙁
But, this is all understandable. 🙂
September 24, 2011 at 7:59 am in reply to: ‘Fantasy’ 9/22/11 Grab Bag Young Unicorn batch discussion/picture thread #857818My work email started filtering my Windstone notifications. At least if they go into Junk, I can keep an eye out for them, but not with our stupid mail system. They get ‘quarantined’ and then an email gets sent to me 24 hours later going “OH HAY I QUARANTEENED DEEZ MAILZ 4 U KAY? U MAD?” That’s how I missed this batch. 🙁
Would anyone be so kind to email me if you see them go in the store Monday? cclippinger@legend3d.com
I’ll try to keep an eye out on our one internet-accessible computer in the break room, but I AM supposed to be working. 😉 My work email is always open though at my station.
Pleeeeease? @3@
Enjoy your vacation time Jennifer. Other members have said what I want to say so much more eloquently than I can at this hour, but to echo them–you are an amazing mod and I admire and respect your ability to keep the peace so gracefully. Thanks for all of your hard work, you definitely deserve some relaxation and recharging just as all the staff does. 🙂
So am I absorbing this information correctly? It seems that Windstone’s ‘official’ stance kind of has to be this (whether it’s a happy solution or not):
– If you have a broken piece, and you can’t repair it because it’s too broken or too complex a scheme to reproduce, you either KEEP IT AS IS, or DESTROY IT. –
I agree that repaints are troublesome legally, but I am sorry, I am never, ever going to throw away a Windstone just because the repair is beyond my talents. I’m bummed that just because I refuse to throw away a statue, or have it sit there all bashed up, I’m actually violating a policy. I understand this from a legal standpoint, but from a collector’s standpoint it just stinks.
People are going to do it whether Windstone bans it or not. And the collectors who do it and really care about the company will always go great lengths to clearly mark their pieces as repaints.
BTW I have not done any repaints to date, but I do have a couple really broken pieces that were slated for it ‘someday’. I’ve been keeping an eye out for discussions about repaints so I could be sure in the future to go about it in the most respectful and least troublesome way for Windstone.
Sorry to beat what’s apparently a dead horse, but this is all relevant and useful information for me as a relatively new collector. It would be helpful to have a sticky, or a section on the Windstone site somewhere, where we can reference the ‘Official Rules/FAQ Regarding Repaints’ and maybe prevent threads like this from sporadically recurring.
I truly understand Windstone’s official stance on repaints. But I do see honest, well-intentioned collectors who do them CRAVING a rule structure that acknowledges that repaints will probably always exist.
If we simply can’t bring ourselves to throw away these pieces, what about giving us a set of rules to follow? The collectors who care about the company always will.
And, with everyone starting to chew the legs off their chairs from the wait…
LOL hilarious visual 😀
Gah! PM’d ya
Those are some gorgeous shots, Wampus. 🙂 I could totally see any one of them on a calendar page!

SO FUN! Great idea Jennifer!
Aw dangit! I called asking about them and they were sold a couple hours beforehand. I was hoping/wondering if a forum member got them! Good find. 😉
Black and white pinto named Rorschach!
Hahahaha!
