*Falls over laughing* π
Thanks, you just made my night π
I’ll certainly let you know how it goes. If it works, then hopefully we can keep up the momentum and find some more dealers here before they all vanish. I’ve passed along the contact info for the shop to Susie and have a reply from her saying that she got it, and the friend that visited the shop today let the “person in charge” (not sure if they were an owner or just a supervisor) write down Windstone’s web address.
I’ll post again as soon as I hear anything *fingers crossed*
Wow Fox, I’m not sure which I’m more envious of, the Windstones or the books behind them! Two lovely collections π
She’s very beautiful, congrats! I just love the eyes π

I’m currently crossing my fingers that the store will say yes. My sister suggested a plan though: have each of us and all our friends who happen to be interested in Windstones show up at the store on our own, get excited when we see the small display they currently have, and then ask if there’s any more on the way. Who knows, it may just work. It could also work on some of the other more stubborn places you have seen as well π

I had to explain to her that i know the owner and they definately are not bust i have just come back from the event. And she got really annoyed with me and mumbled something about she was a retailer and she knew best π
I never went back βOne morning I walk into into work and Karen says “Hey! So you aren’t dead?”
Apparantly some store had heard the rumor that I had died from another store and called. At least they called us first to see if it was true, before passing it on! Karen misssed a golden opportunity.π―
“Did you hear? Melody was killed in a freak dragon land-slide at the factory the other day! They won’t be making Windstones anymore, you’d better buy one quick! Better yet, buy twelve!”
…sorry, couldn’t resist!
I spoke with one of the employees at the same store tonight and passed along the website address, and I sent Susie their contact info. They really didn’t pay attention to me, but then they weren’t the owner of the store, just students. I hope they pass it along.
foxfeather wrote:What the other Canadians have said is true for the Calgary area as well, except alot of our little curio shops that carried them all went out of buisness a few years ago. Talk to the store manager, leave them a note or just keep asking. If you give Karen and Susie their contact info then they can send them the promo stuff!
The shops around here do good business because I live in cottage country. All summer long the city folk drive up here for their vacations and they flock to curio shops and antique dealers. The winters are pretty dead, but the warm months more than make up for it.
I just sent out some info to Susie. Turns out the store I went to has a twin shop in Orillia, which is even better. I gave her both addresses and phone numbers. Hopefully the owners will be interested!
Really? Ooooh…now there’s some motivation! π
(Not that I really needed any more incentive than the ability to get dragons without border duties heaped on them!) π
There was a Green Earth store in a Barrie mall that I once visited, but they only had a few candle lamps when I first went, and then they “re-vamped” their store and stopped selling most of the figures I used to buy from them. They only really sell cheap trinkets and scented candles now.
I’m more than willing to talk to some of the stores around where I live to see if they are interested in carrying Windstones. Yes, the towns around here are small, but this is cottage country in the summer, and all the city folks are here looking at antiques and statues on the weekends. I hope this works!
Ah, thank you! That really does help to clear this up. I wasn’t very trusting of the lady I spoke to, one because of her attitude and two because she tried to convince me that Windstone was completely closed before she gave me the distributor story.
I’ll get some contact information for the store in question and let the folks here know about it. I’d love to get a store set up in Midland, whether it’s this one or not, with Windstones for myself and my friends! π
gryphondreamer wrote:arya, did you end up buying anything that was there?
No, there were no pieces that I was looking for, there were only about 6 pieces in total. I had intended to ask what the price of the Emperor was just to gauge what the rest of the dragons would be up here relative to him, but the lady was so short and rude, I just left after asking her those questions.

Thank you π
Greater Basilisk wrote:The Canadians will be able to clear you up a lot better, but I do remember somebody saying the Canadian distributor was backing out of Windstones…
Crud, that would not be very good π
This is my first topic, so please forgive me if I mess up with this π
Anyway, I live in an extremely small town in central Ontario, and today my sister and I went to Midland, the nearest town, to shop. There happened to be a lovely curio shop there, and I thought “hey, I wonder if they have Windstones!”, being as I’m a newly-minted, largely-Windstoneless addict. We walked in, and there stood a Rainbow Emperor, along with a few small gargoyles. I was so excited, I found the store owner and asked her how often they got new pieces, and was it possible to order some through her.
Her answer: “They don’t make Windstones anymore”
…huh? I told her I was a member of this website, and unless I’m delusional, it seems as though Windstone was not only still in business, but that they had all sorts of new stuff. She then muttered something about them not selling in Canada anymore, and then something about the Canadian distributor being closed.
This all sounds like hogwash to me, but I thought I’d post this story here so someone could please set me straight! Also, if this lady was clueless, do any of you kind Canadian visitors know of any good stores around the Barrie/Orillia area of Ontario?
Thank you π
Congrats again! π
