The problem with trying to test a cat for heartworm disease is that it’s a very dicey thing. There hasn’t been a lot of research done on feline heartworm disease, and most tests aren’t accurate. The best way to make sure your cat doesn’t get HWD is to start it on prevention before 6 months.
As for rabies, here’s a little tidbit that may be of interest: after the infecting bite occurs, it can take anywhere from 5 to 50 days for symptoms to manifest (the further the bite is from your brain, the longer it takes) and once symptoms do manifest (dumbness, inability to swallow, rage, etc.) it’s fatal within 10 days. If the animal died during that 10 day quarantine period, it’s head would be sent in for testing and everyone exposed would receive the lovely course of shots we’ve all heard horror stories about.
Unless you’re like me, and are actually vaccinated against rabies because of your profession.
I know about the rabies and how long it takes for symptoms to develop, and if the animal died in the 10 day quarantine period they’d have to send in the head for all that jazz. Drag0n wrote that the vet said that if the cat attacked someone they’d cut off the head and send it away for testing…it sounded like the vet mentioned nothing about the quarantine. That’s all I was pointing out…

By the way, this goes for where I live, not sure about the rules where ever you live, but if your cat ever did bite anyone for whatever reason and she didn’t have a rabies vaccine up to date, the most they would do here is quarantine her for up to 10 days in a room in your house just to make sure she develop symptoms or pass away suddenly. a few months ago I was bit by a german shepherd whose rabies shot was expired by more than a month and all they did was have them quarantine him by keeping him in their garage for 10 days and monitor him…that’s all.
But what your vet told you just sounds…well…evil and wrong.

well I think the guy who made this (husband knows him) went to a local store in this area that cuts their own meats like bacon. They make there own sausage too which is to die for! It’s a store called Nick’s. That’s where we get most of our meats too like steaks, chicken, bacon, pretty much anything. Let me tell you, the bacon is VERY meaty!! 😀

Christmas is good family time for me but I’m always broke so I can never afford lots of presents for everyone.

I woke up in the middle of having mine pulled too! i just remember opening my eyes and the doctor said “hi how are ya” and then i heard a sound like a drill and passed back out. I’m going to the dentist on the 12th of this month and I’m scared. I hate going. I don’t like people messing around with my mouth. It’s annoying and gross. I’m gonna be sedated for the whole process. The place’s ad said that they were number one in sedation dentistry or whatever. I said “SWEET”!!

I’m not really stressed out about anything though. I kinda have a night light…the street lamp is right outside the bedroom window an it lights it up pretty good. I just wish it would go away. I’m not afraid of the dream itself anymore, it’s more being afraid of what I see in the mirror after waking up.

So I’ve been having the same exact dream now about every other night for the past 3 1/2 weeks or so. Last night was night number 13. Sometimes back to back. It’s about me getting in a head on collision with a drunk driver on the same road that I take to go visit my parents. It’s always the same truck, same road and I’m always in the same hospital, same room, and the same people come see me every time.
Basically in the dream I get sprayed with shattered glass from both my car and the truck causing massive scarring on my arms and around my eyes and forehead. People from work say that I’ll no longer be able to work there because they don’t want people to get frightened by the sight of me. I’m constantly getting arrested for scaring people and for making death threats (which I never do).
The dream sometimes will last all night long and sometimes won’t. It’s when it doesn’t that it freaks me out. I’ll wake up from it sometimes around say 3:30 am or so, sweating like I just stepped out of a sauna. I’ll go to the bathroom (like I always do at night) and my husband has one of those tooth brushes that sit on the chargers and it’s light is bright enough to light up the base of the bathroom mirrors…when I go in there I can still see the scars on my face from my dream. And I know I’m awake!
I have to turn on the bathroom light every time and rub my eyes to makes sure they are not there. It’s really starting to freak me out.Once I’m up from the dream, It’s very hard for me to go back to sleep regardless of what time it is. I just want it to stop! I’m not sure what to do. I just want to sleep again.
