I knew the pc was infected because I got the red box of death saying your computer is being attacked. The second way was a box that opened saying “your anti-virus program is not active; do you want to activate YOU anti-virus program now?” And that’s exactly how it was spelled/phrased: you anti-virus, not YOUR. That’s a hot tip off right there; the misphrasing.
And it didn’t matter what you clicked on, apparently. Because then I was immediately transported to a p0rn site! 😡 And then the cascade of popup boxes saying this file or that file is infected, blah, blah blah blah…..And then it blocked the access to the real anti-virus program, and wouldn’t allow me to run it. I had to reboot the computer in safe mode, and ran some anti-malware programs first, then the anti-virus program. THEN I took AVG off the pc, installed a different program and ran IT. I finally got an all clear, after several hours’ worth of sitting and waiting for the scans to finish. What a royal PITA. *sigh* And all I wanted was to post some PYO pictures, since I’ve done a few more of them since the last time I posted pictures of any PYO’s. 😳

What would you guys say is the most reliable/best picture hosting websites? I was using photobucket until yesterday, when a virus managed to get past my anti-virus program, and infected my damned laptop. I spent most of last night, and the better part of today getting rid of the virus AND my old anti-virus program. 😡 What fun….NOT. 🙄 I don’t know which I should be *more* aggravated about; the anti-virus program that was asleep on the job, or the photobucket site. 👿
But I seem to have dodged a major bullet, since I was able to get rid of the bug and install a better/new anti-virus program without having to re-format the entire computer. keeping fingers crossed that THAT is actually true!

Thanks, guys. Lately it just seems like I’ve only got bad stuff to report. I feel bad coming in and just unloading what seems like non-stop….sh..uh…stuff….. 😳
I would dearly *LOVE* to have some good things to relate. SRSLY, I would.

Right now the best I can do is that Maggie the New Dog is doing very well. She’s settled in nicely, and even Monsta Kitteh has started to come around, and has started to play with Maggie here and there. 🙂
That, and I guess I’ll have some time to maybe paint some PYO’s in the next couple of days, since they’re calling for more snow. Oh…yippee. 🙄

I managed to grab one, too. So now I have blanks of a unicorn, dragon, kirin, and a keeper! My first…Finally!! 8)
now I just need to figure out what I’m gonna do with ’em. I hate having to pick eye colors ahead of time…… 😳

Given the coming weather forecast for MORE freakin’ snow, I’m guessing I’ll have some time on my hands…… 🙄 🙄

in reply to: Do you collect anything besides Windstones? #766963

Aside from the obvious–Windstones, I collect Breyer horses; have since the early 1960’s. Got a couple that are actually worth something. 😀
And glass witch balls. And thanks to my husband, jewelry–mostly rings. (that man has good taste!)
Oh, and….dust! I’ve got a pretty spectacular collection of that. *snerk* 😆

I know you sometimes have to weather the storms, but for cryin’ out loud, even a major Hurricane only lasts a day or two. :shout: This crap has been going on almost non-stop since last July when we lost our 17 y.o. cat. I’m nearing the end of my rope, and I’m not sure I can tie a big enough knot in the end to hang on to. I’ve had bad luck before, but never on a scale like these last few months. Un-freakin’-believable. 🙄 I’m not asking to win the lottery; I just want some nice, quiet, uneventful times. Honestly. That’s all. (>-<) well…..okay. I wouldn’t turn that lottery ticket down if someone were to offer it……..and I’d share!

…things are finally getting better, don’t look now; they aren’t. Really. 🙄 🙄

Yesterday I was feeling pretty darned good; the cast came off my leg and I’m in a walking boot finally. I managed to snag a couple of PYO’s from the store, and lo and behold—there was a phone call on my answering machine about a possible job. All good, right? Exit, good; enter not good. 🙁

One of my older horses (24) was scheduled to have a tooth pulled yesterday. I had the vet out on Saturday to check her teeth, because I suspected she had a bad tooth, and the vet confirmed that. She said she would be available to be here to tranquilize the mare for the extraction. And she mentioned that Julya’s gums were a little jaundiced looking, but she told me that if the mare was colicky and not eating normally, being stressed could cause minor liver troubles that would be addressed by getting that bad tooth out, and some antibiotics and more food in. She wasn’t raising any red flags. So I called the horse dentist and scheduled the appointment for Julya and my 2 other seniors (23 and 32). I had gone out with my husband earlier in the morning to feed the horses before my doctor’s appointment for my leg, and everyone was fine.

The dentist got here on schedule, and my husband took him out to the barn while I put my walking cast and barn boot on. I get out to the barn to find my husband and Mike the dentist standing with my old mare, who was down on the ground, and not looking good at all. When I got closer to her, I saw that she had cut her left front leg to the bone, not good, and that cut was dry–even worse, because that meant the cut was old. She must have gone down shortly after I left the barn in the morning, and by the time I got back there again, she must’ve been down for several hours. I’m guessing that she cut herself trying to get back up. She was shocky, dehydrated and very weak. I called the vet to see where she was, and she was enroute to our place and estimated she’d be here in about 5-10 minutes. So I put blankets on the mare, gave her some banamine and took a closer look at her leg. It wasn’t going to be something we could stitch, but when the vet initially looked, she felt that if we could get Julya to a stall, we could clean the cut and bandage it, and go from there. Then we tried to get the mare up, and we couldn’t get her up. The vet started checking other vital signs, like gut sounds and took another look at her gums. The final verdict was that Julya was in acute liver failure, and was just generally shutting down. We ended up having to put her down. She went with her head in my lap, and my tears on her face. 😥

So much for a “good” day.

I guess that given the weather currently being forecasted for here I should be glad that Julya went when she did; they’re calling for 2 feet of snow for the weekend. I don’t even want to *begin* to envision THAT scenario, thank you very much. 🙁

I give up; this crap has got to stop somewhere, doesn’t it? I’ve given up asking how much worse could things get—a long time ago–because I decided I really didn’t want to KNOW how much worse things could be. I mean, really…..WTF? 🙄 😥 Can someone just make it stop, now? PLEASE??? PRETTY PLEASE???

Oh, that sucks. 🙁 My family dealt with Alzheimer’s with my grandfather. It’s heartbreaking. You and your family have our sympathy!

That sucks about the drive and the class. I guess we take the convenience part for granted… 🙁

When we first learned with Flurry, for the heel it was a real quick pop on the leash/collar to get the dog’s attention and once the dog had the basic idea, we’d walk briskly, and add stops where she would sit, or lots of changes of direction that encourages the dog to pay attention. 😀 Our instructor was never one for constant yanking on the dog. :nea:

The other thing we used with Flurry was to hold something good in my left hand level with my waist, usually a piece of bacon or some other goodie that she really liked so her attention would be on my hand. If you make it seem like you’re eating part of whatever goodie, the dog will then transfer attention to your face. But the goodie in the left hand held at the waist thing should work.

Flurry was about 90 lbs at her biggest, so yeah, I hear you on doing the dog walk and A-frame.

I read something online the other night that was on a website that explained what all those letters in a dog’s title were, like CD is Companion Dog, UD is Utility Dog etc. But the article went on to say that to put a title on your dog was a measurement of how much you treasured your dog, that you cared enough about the dog to make sure the dog was able to contribute to being a good example of a companion and that you cared enough to take the time to spend for training and practice and all. (not saying that an untrained dog isn’t loved; Heaven knows we had dogs for years that were never trained to do much of anything besides eat and bark. 😀 )
I will say this: I never realized just how much I took Flurry’s unwavering obedience for granted until we got Maggie. Since she’s not trained yet, and telling her to down/stay doesn’t quite work yet. 8)

Wow, that’s pretty darned reasonable! Glad to hear they’re willing to work with you. I think you’ll likely find the same with your other healthcare providers–there’s a LOT of folks in the same boat, so it probably won’t be as hard to find deals as you’ve thought. 😉 Here’s to thinking positive thoughts for you from NJ! 😀
