I was entrant #18.
I don’t have any other close-up pictures of the blue-eyed buckskin, sorry. If i had picked one of a horse i know better, you’d have had better luck with that request, hehe. I just loved that horse’s color and unusual eyes – you don’t often see blue eyes on a horse who doesn’t have much white. It occurred to me after picking them all that i went with a bunch of blue-eyed critters!
I was among those who voted for #12. There were SO many nice pictures and sets overall, it was hard to pick. 🙂
That’s all right, he is a very handsome looking horse though! Was he sabino, or solid colored?
Also, I guess it doesn’t really matter, but I was a voteless #26 XD
*squee* the griffins in my book are based on that color scheme 8D It’d be beautiful with a little metallic thrown in, too yah?
Congratulations!
And thanks for a fun quest!
FOr me, if I could have any of P.S.’s test paints done as a LP, i’d LOVE the copper tiger http://windstoneeditions.com/galleries/windstone-products-gallery/ebay-gallery/patricia-smith/male-griffins/copper-tiger-test-pai i’ve always been a fan of natural colors and I adore this griffon! I wish I could’ve afforded to bid on him =P
Heee, agreed, that one was one of my -all time- favorites.
I’m starting to sound like a squeaky wheel here, but while we’re on the subject of gothics, I’m gonna put my two cents in for toasted pearl gothics–it’s been ages since a run of unicorns was in the store, and the gothics only ever had the two colors.
I wouldn’t complain over fawn ones though, either. 🙂
So cute! Coming along nicely with the natural color paint!
I like the gold and tealish green together, on this and barn swallow. I would not mind seeing new griffin colors one bit, either, since besides the currently hornless unicorns, the griff is my favorite sculpt.
I would love to see a PYO griffin in the sphinx pose, kind of like Snerl. Given, this is a long shot, but I think it’d be a lovely desk guardian 🙂
That would be awesome!
Oh cool! I happen to be working on just such a griffin! A Pyo “Snerl” type, on a rock.
Do you folks have a preference about paws? Do you prefer eagle front paws or cat paws? Makes no difference to me on a paint-your-own, you guys get to fuss with all those little scaly toes.80 aaa! Squeak granted?!?!
Eagle talons, definitely, so he can go with the sitting up one 🙂
Is there a sneaky way we can get a glimpse of him without offending the trademark powers that be?
Wow, that’s a lot of entries! Took me a while to get through everything but there were quite a few pleasant surprises along the way.
Loved the gargoyle photo in 11, whoever you are.
That’s a beautiful blue-eyed buckskin in entry 18, too. I’d love to see more shots of this horse when this is over and you can reveal yerself XD
I’d like to know which building that sea-lion gargoyle came from, too, when it’s over.I would love to see a PYO griffin in the sphinx pose, kind of like Snerl. Given, this is a long shot, but I think it’d be a lovely desk guardian 🙂
Just finished sending in my eleventh hour entry. 🙂
Oh, I’m glad there’s a new thread for this 🙂
My wishlist:
Pebble fox–copper patina or other non fantasy color or finish (any metal, netsuke, or similar would be love)
Still dreaming about getting a young in a conservative fantasy color
New unicorn colt in slate dun (please come out this year!)For the horn problem with unicorns to get fixed D:
It was always the unicorns, for me.
My dad used to be a jeweler in a local mall in the 90’s, and every once in a while, one of us kids would get to go spend the day with him. We hung out in the back of the jewelry store (which had some interesting stuff!) and occasionally escaped to be mall urchins. I had every store in the mall memorized (ha, I’m sure they all wondered where this repeat-unaccompanied-kid came from) common haunts were a weird store with an egyptian sphynx facade that sold pendulums and weird stuff like that and the bookstore (which I got myself locked into once at closing time) but my favorite was a curio store upstairs that sold rocks, beads, charms, and all manner of fantasy things, my favorite of which were the Windstones. There were probably dragons, but I don’t remember them. I’d always loved unicorns, but even as a kid I hated the pink fluffy kind that were just horses with horns. I wanted lions tails. I wanted cloven hooves. I wanted unicorns! And there they were! I remember oogling the grands of both unicorns and pegasus. I went to visit them frequently (anything with a price tag past $5 was too much for my eight-year-old self). I never even thought I’d own one some day because they were so amazing–I felt like I was in a museum.
My dad eventually decided to get out of the mall scene, and I remembered the statues, but moved on with life. I don’t think I ever knew what they were called, as my mall urchin instructions were very specific as to not touching things I couldn’t afford (which was basically everything) but one day a year or two ago I remembered them and decided to try and see if I could find them.
The only thing I went to google with was ‘unicorn statue’ thinking for sure I’d be up for some serious slogging to find something that had probably gone the way of the hacky sack and the beanie baby ten years ago. Imagine my surprise at finding them still in production!
I first got myself a damaged gothic to repair, but since then I’ve gotten a better job, and the collection has increased gradually, mostly small pieces that I have space to display on a rotation basis. Still no Grand though…ironically. I will though, when the right one comes along 🙂 (Toasted pearl would be awesome!!! Or pearl siamese!!)
Oh, wow, what a beautiful gothic! Too bad he’s -already- out of my price range. Good for him though 🙂
May 15, 2013 at 9:11 pm in reply to: 4/9/2013 Natural Grab Bag Baby Unicorn Batch Photo Thread #897460A bit of a late post, but I’ve been fairly scarce lately. Too much going on between job driving me crazy with a reorg, helping take care of mom, helping dad (he just had surgery this week, so can’t lift for a month), and costuming. Trying not to burn out and not winning on that front. >_<;
Anyways, this is who pranced their way here to stay! 🙂
Ahh, he’s a lookalike to my all-time-favorite-gbb! (From one of the older batches, but I’ve yet to see one I like better than that beautiful red appy with blue eyes!) Lucky you! If you ever feel like trading, keep me in mind!
