CRONGRATULATIONS, STEPHANIE!!!!
Wolfen, I had a similar situation! My Grandfather passed away two Christmases ago and I asked through the estate if I could have his car since it was in much better shape than mine. The guy that used to own the dealership where he bought it stopped by our house and said, “I heard your grandpa died, can I have his car back?” The dealer had lost his dealership due to some illegal practices and now sells cars from the edge of the road in front of his house. Way to pay some respect to a grieving family, huh?
I’ve been selling on eBay as a full time job for the past three years. I’ve encountered many “woe-is-me” stories. Somewhere in the “Whine is served” thread from a few years ago I had encountered a buyer like that. I had a bunch of collectible dolls listed and someone clicked buy-it-now on the rarest, most valuable one I had listed. Then they sent me a message that was nothing more to a link for a website, nothing else. I clicked on it out of curiosity and it was a website talking about a family whose house had burned down and they had 4 little girls who needed donations of clothes, toys, and sports equipment. I felt so awful and ran to this forum to vent! I didn’t want to donate an expensive doll! I can’t afford to give away my valuable things! I felt like a jerk because I didn’t want to donate it, but that’s not fair to me either! In any other situation, I would’ve been happy to donate a toy to a little girl that lost hers in a fire, but not one that would pay one of my household bills that month. When you have a situation like this arise, you need to take a moment to step back and make sure it is fair to BOTH parties. Sometimes you just have to make sure that people aren’t trying to take advantage of a good heart. <3
Your post just reminded me of when I was vet tech at the local humane society. There were a few racing greyhound kennels in the area, and we had a good relationship with the staff of a couple- they tried for their dogs as much as they could, and funneled quite a few to us. Sometimes we got litters of pups from one. Once, when we adopted one of the pups out, it was brought back by a VERY irate owner. The pup was brindle, as were its littermates and probably 90% of the greyhounds around here. The owner was angry because they claimed we misrepresented the breed of the pup. They said their vet insisted the pup was a pit and most definitely not a greyhound, because it was brindle and only pits come in brindle. Uh, yeah, with its skinny sighthound head and body, it’s a pit all right, even if it wasn’t from known parentage… you can’t win against stupidity. We just took the pup back to find it a better home. I hear also that if it has a blue eye/eyes, it must be an aussie or aussie mix. When it looks and acts just like a dalmatian cross or a husky.
Sorry for the long story and off topic! What you wrote is one of the many reasons why the human race makes my head hurt. Though, this is the first time I have heard of a vet being so stupid that they insist a brindle Greyhound puppy must have Pit Bull mixed in him/her, since “only Pit Bulls come in brindle.” Now I have heard it all…*head desk*
Shows how little some know but Think they know… Brindle is a color variation not a breed, and it can show up in many breeds of dogs and other animals, as is evident in some of the posts here for dogs, horses, cows, etc….
I’ve seen Great Danes with Brindle coloring… perhaps that Greyhound has *Great Dane* in him too, as well as Pit Bull?!? Honestly, and from a Vet?!?My hubby thought that only Pits could be brindle, too, so I showed him this thread. My mom had a little boston terrier that was brindle. He was a cutie!
On a side note: I LOVE those new sitting foxes! I’d love to see some in their respective fox color and I’d love some fantasy ones too! Those sculpts are just too cute!

I had to bid on him too! I’m so relieved he went for over $2100. I hate it when I bid and lose for just a couple bucks, I forever wonder “what if I had just bid a liiiiiiiittle more?”. Now I don’t feel as bad that I didn’t win him!
Etruscan, to answer your question: the more color the better in my opinion! I have a baby uni from a paint puke batch that would’ve matched him wonderfully!
Ugh! There’s nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning to multiple fraudulent charges on your checking account. Apparently someone tried to charge $500+, $1000+, and $2500+ on my husbands debit card. For Argosy Casino in Kansas City. My husband travels for work, but hasn’t been to KC in years. Of course, he left early this morning, and they froze his card. Luckily I was able to talk to the bank, and I got a message to my husband to call the fraud department so they could unlock his card. So annoying.
I completely understand that! One morning I woke up to find that someone had gone to dozens of skateboarding websites trying to buy a ton of $100 gift cards with my debit card! We work hard to make a life for our little ones, how sad is it that someone would steal my babies’ grocery money to buy hundreds of dollars in skateboards. It’s a terrible, frustrating feeling!
I guess I’m on the other side of the fence on the eBay debate. I’ve had such a miserable time trying to trade in the past year that I get excited when I see one of my favorites pop up on eBay. Otherwise I would’ve had a 0% chance at it anyway.
My only complaint about the grab bags listed on eBay is that they don’t come with an awesome Melody sketch. I think that is half the excitement of splurging on eBay is the awesome sketch! 🙂CONGRATS on a complete collection!
I thought I was the only one who did that! Instead of a nightstand, I have a vintage rolltop desk with a curio hutch on top (also with the drawers facing the bed and I keep all my art/craft supplies in them!). The hutch is filled with my more prized Windstones. The desk top has my “grail” Windstone facing me while I sleep, a slew of pebble creatures, a WIP craft project or two, cherished photos of my babies, and a crapload of Disney, MLP, and various 80’s Memoriabilia. When I go to bed at night, a pebble fox holds my glasses for me while I’m sleeping. If I get a chance to dust later this weekend I need to post updated pics of my collection in that area! It’s my favorite spot in the house!

I got a German Shepard and an awesome wild dog. I’ve got to wait until after this gloomy snowy weather to take a picture though.
