I am painting gb cougars slowly because I am trying hard to finish the pyo oriental dragon.I carve on that until my fingers hurt, then I switch to cougars. Unless it is too phlicking hot out there in the paint area.
I am so excited to hear this! I’m just trying to finish up my very first PYO now… I have a preference for orientals so I know I’ll have fun with this 🙂
I hope the cougars aren’t over $200 or I won’t be getting one. I thought the tanukis wouldn’t be over $150 considering I thought they would be priced along the same lines as the grab bag kirins, wolves, baby unicorns and young poads which were all in the $100-$150 range. Some of the cougars on ebay sold for around $250 so I think the grab bag ones should be priced less, $200 at the most, especially if they have simpler patterns than the fancy tanukis. If they are done with stencils instead of by hand then they shouldn’t be as hard to paint or take as long.
We can certainly dream, can’t we! I think, given the size of the cougars (larger than the Tanuki) and the fact that the fancy Tanukis were $200 (stencil or no stencil), I think it’s safe to say the cougars will exceed the $200 mark… Patterns and designs have become more intricate, and take more time = more money.
You’re right, Angelika Zen. The Cougars are bigger than Tanukis in the first place. More detail on a bigger sculpt = more time and paint = more expensive. That’s the same in anything in life.
Also, I think the average price of eBay Cougars was around $500. From what I remember, only one GB test paint was 255 and one red leopard was 260.
We all know that Windstone determines the price before the items go onto the store and its based on the time and materials. I’m sure the price will be fair when the Cougars come out.
I think it also depends on how compilcated they are… there was a pretty big price gap in the Tanukis, and I think Melody did say the cougars won’t be quite so fancy/detailed as the eBay ones??
So sorry about your job…
I can’t say for sure that your situation will be the same, or better – but every time life has thrown me a curveball, things have turned out better (or at least okay) in the end, even if it took a while… I hope time will help you feel the same way about this 🙂
Would be cool if the black cougars are ‘moonlit’ otherwise if they’re just solid flat black I fear it would be nothing more than a black blob in my collection… a moonlit affect would enhance the details amazingly, I think
If they’re like the Jet Black colour scheme, they’ll be fairly glossy, which I like the idea of 🙂 High gloss on solid colours still brings out details.
fantasy baby unicorns! i would be grateful, and i am loving the new tadpoads! so excited to see which ones i get.
Maybe some young hoppy poads……to match the tadpoads 😉
Yes please!!!!!!!!
Eventually
I squee’d.
They’re supposed to refund you, then haggle with UPS themselves to get the insurance back, not you… I would politely ask for your money again, and if they refuse, open a case.
(Is it an international sale by any chance? I’ve had the International Shipping Program break things before as they open them for inspection and don’t always repackage them properly… I’ve heard others experienced this as well.)
My vote is for cougars 🙂
Tad Poads were never my thing really. But Hoppy Tad Poads… maaaaybe…!
Joining in with etruscan…I keep hearing how hard it is for Windstone to get a smooth finish and clean paint job on the pebble sculpts, especially the tiny ones, which led me to assume that it might be harder for Windstone to make a profit when it takes them a disproportionate amount of time/effort to get the pebbles ‘right.’ Of course, other sculpts have their own issues (horns, need for stencils, pewter parts) but as they have a higher price point, they might be more worth the effort.
I was under the impression that the reason it’s harder to make them ~perfect~ was also why they made good grab bags – Not having to emulate the same effect perfectly over and over, etc. The Goofball ones (curlie dragons, foxes) seem to be a good example of this!
Plus the profit for grab bags is higher, making the extra time spent on tiny sculpts more worth it, I would think?
They do seem to be putting out production colours at a pretty steady rate lately too, so personally I have no issues 🙂
But they’re such CUTE little knick-knacks….. but if you are saying they can’t match the fantasy figures in the wow factor, I can’t argue.
I agree on the whole EXCEPT with the Pebble Cougar… it’s so detailed and lovely, it really did take my breath away when I opened it, even if it’s not as fancy 🙂
Bonus photo of a startled (or possibly excited) African Striped Weasel:
POOFFerrets!!!
The their body shape and tendancy curl inward when sleeping/sitting would make a good pebble, I think.
I’m thinking domestic, however, there are lots of wild variants and cousin weasels that would also make adorable sculpts 🙂

Ermine/stoat~
Lots of colour variations as a result, too <3
I’d like to put in a little squeak for Jet Black Flip Flap Cats.
My Snow White is lonely.Thanks.
Me too. “Slick” needs a buddy.
I know this is a little silly, but a solid Grey flip-flap cat (and/or little ones!) would be nice as an in-between colour I think… Yellow eyes!
Ahh, neat, thanks! I was confused because I was Googling images of the EP line and getting a handful of photos that were labeled the same, but had definite purples in them.
I had this happen with the Global Shipping Program as well.
They open it to inspect the item – They did not repackage it properly, they LEFT OUT THE SECOND BOX, and as a result arrived broken.
Call eBay. If it was Pitney Bowes (the GSP’s shipper) fault, and both you and the seller agree, they will refund you both no problem.
Sorry this happened. It sounds like you did call eBay already, but it’s such a shame…
I avoid sellers who are using the GSP if they are not willing to ship without it (after a polite PM of course).
Those mice are TOO cute.
Those are some premade hairless Dime Rats by nEVEr-mor. I can see how they can be mistaken for mice at that size. They are tiny! Here is her DeviantArt page:
http://never-mor.deviantart.com/I agree, her stuff is adorable! I have six at the moment and want more.
I’ve only been lucky enough to catch one of her Dime Rat commission slots, and here are the ones I commissioned:
And the reference photo I sent her of my rats for color/markings:
omigosh! Thanks for sharing, I’m dying of the adorable levels in these photos. Love your rats, too!
