LupusLunae, you got my favorite! She’s gorgeous!
Here is mine. She’s crazy! I’m open for trades for any from this batch. Her head and tail are the green/purple I believe. Lower legs is red/gold color shift. Her toes are green, and there are green scales on her too. Blue eyes and gold horn. These guys remind me of the raku style of firing porcelain.

😀 Raku style? I can’t agree more! I’ve been thinking that myself about this colorshift paint. The possibilities are so exciting!

It’s easy to forget to forward feedback as well. I have positive feedback but it’s several years old and I’ve had….probably a hundred good transactions on the forum since then, buying/selling/trading. I tend to be lazy about it too since the people I trade with regularly are really trusted and also have good feedback already. Never hurts to have more though! I’m going to start being more proactive about feedback! 🙂

-looks sheepish- I third this. I’ve not left feedback for anyone, though I’ve had a small handful of experiences (all positive I might add). I need to start leaving feedback for the list. I’ll try to fix that for future experiences.

I wonder if the advances in 3D printing and the increased availability/lowering prices of the equipment might open up a whole new world for this sort of thing. 🙂

That would be awesome! There IS a company that makes customizable miniatures using 3D printing (Hero Forge). A friend of mine got a custom miniature and they’ve asked me to paint it. I’ve discovered that it is going to be an absolute pain in the rear to paint. 3D printing apparently doesn’t create nice smooth surfaces. -sighs- The miniatures surface looks like it’s actually a super small topographic map. It’s a shame really. The minis aren’t good for painting with washes, but the fact that you can customize them so much makes up for it if you don’t care about painting them that way.

When they refine the technology I hope it makes that kind of problem go away.

I can’t believe this is the first grab bag that I’ve ever bought from the store! Its so exciting, I can’t wait to see what I get! I really love the mostly purple-colored ones from the class pic, as well as a couple of the white-with-patches.

I think I might be waiting awhile for mine though… Its still processing and Monday is a holiday… I hope there will still be trades available when I get mine, just in case!

The PYO kirin horn in gold is the only one that we don’t have a shortage of. We have somewhere in the number of two thousand or more left over from the old factory in California. They are all gold-plated, though. We don’t have any that are plain silver. The problem with kirin horns involves how the molds are designed (something to do with seam lines?), and I don’t think we have figured out a way to cast more, yet. This means no more large kirin horns in either gold or silver for the time being, aside from what is leftover from California.

Oh gosh, seams! The bane of every mold caster I’m sure. Gaming companies that create miniatures get around that by having their customers deal with the flashing i.e. seams. You have to take a scalpel or sharp edge and carefully shave it off. With the kirin having such a smooth horn…I can’t begin to imagine the hassle of trying to create a type of one part mold that’s not just resistant to molten metal temperature but ALSO reusable. Bleh! 😛 And what I’m describing is probably an oversimplification of the problem.

I’ve read that you’re still having issues with horns for kirin so this question isn’t particularly relevant at the moment, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get alternative options for the PYO kirin horns at the time of purchase (similar to how we pick eyes/gems) once the horn shortage is resolved?

For example, the description of the color shift GB kirin mentioned that some had gold plated horns while others had silver plated. Likewise, there was a PYO kirin done some time ago that had an oriental dragon’s horn rather than a regular kirin horn and I found that extremely striking.

I’ve nothing against the regular gold horn but sometimes gold just doesn’t match!

Could just have the pyo kirin horn offered unplated like the pyo unicorn horn. Then you could paint it whatever you liked and Windstone wouldn’t have to spend time doing the gold plating. Though I will say that paint can never match the look of the gold plating.

While I would love to squeak for an LP of Dreamscape (gorgeous color scheme), someone mentioned earlier that there have been a lot of cool colors released. I thought about that and they’re right. I’d like to see an LP of Fire Berry. A warm color would nice to see, so I will squeak for that instead.

Melody, do you have plans to release more Pebble sculpts in color shift options like the cougars? (Can I convince you to do *all* the Pebble sculpts?) 😀

I’m hoping hardest for Sitting Red Foxes, Bat-Ears, and Fennecs, but I’m flexible; I’m just curious if you/Windstone had specific plans to repeat the spectacular all-the-color-shift-colors-at-once release plan with other Pebbles. It was awesome, and it ended in my buying not one but two cougars, and I think almost everything sold out, so hopefully it was a huge success that will happen again…

Yes, I want to do all of them in the shift paint, but we only have a good supply of Tanuki castings at the moment, and just a handful of lady cats and wolves.
These tiny batches ( like 7 each of a couple colors) will probably sell out really fast. We will paint more when we get castings.
Shift paint looks great on the wolves, but I think it is kinda … meh… on the tanukis. They don’t have enough underside showing to make the color look shifty. I haven’t tried these colors on all of the other pebbles yet.
*edit* After painting a few batches of these tanukis in various color shifts … I do think they look just fine. This paint is so weird.

I am SO happy to hear about the Lady Cats! I have been hoping for more natural colours but this is also awesome. First thing I hoped for when I saw the wolves.

These pebbles are nice because they are a little cheaper, and with the “rainbows” they make for somewhat easier-to-collect sets. 🙂

Oh man, normally I don’t care for the adult kirins…but this guy. I have a weakness for figures carved from wood (I have an amazing looking dragon carved from wood) and this guy really looks like he was carved from a piece and then polished to a soft glow. Laurie this one is just the tops for me! He’s really inspiring. <3 <3 <3

🙂 I managed to snag a kirin when the site went back up. I was pretty surprised. I was even lucky enough to put the last red/gold wolf in my cart. But then I decided to behave and let him go. I hope he made someone’s day!

I’m super curious about which kirin I’ll get though! I was forced to pass on the last baby kirin GB even after some stragglers were offered up later to those who missed the initial release. If I’m not absolutely in love I might sell to raise funds for an eBay piece. 🙂 We shall see. They’re super cute, so it’ll be difficult to decide!
