That pipe and faucet was “special” to begin with. The previous park manager was washing his truck on his day off and had a little too much to drink. He somehow ripped the faucet off. In a fit of anger rather than just get a small elbow and pipe section to attach a new faucet he ended up almost making a cube with the number of bends and duct taping the thing to the deck to support it. Oh and he did this with the water was running.

We had looked at this monstrosity when we moved in with horror. So many unnecessary bends, minimal insulation! We knew it was asking for trouble.

It’s a small state park – only 32 campsites and three cabins, two full-time staff (my husband is one of those two), and two part-time staff. The staff do every thing – housekeeping, grounds keeping, vehicle maintenance, etc. Public area upkeep comes first. Repairs in staff-only areas are low on the totem pole. It was on the “when we get around to it” list.

Needless to say it’s moved onto a higher priority list, but right now it’s still been too cold for anything to cure properly without blasting it with warm air from a hair dryer. That’s what was done to cap it for now. That was an adventure as well because they had used up all the pvc glue they had on the bathhouse and cabin pipe repairs the day before so they had to call friends and family nearby to see if anyone had some as it was Christmas day and everyplace that carries it locally was closed.

We just had a pipe on the outside of our house burst. That makes 4 pipes here on the state park – two yesterday, two today.

Yesterday it was a pipe in the bathhouse and one of the cabins. Today it was the shop sink and our faucet.

No one has my middle son’s adhd medicine in stock near me and they don’t know when they will have any available. I don’t know how I am going to make it through the winter break if he doesn’t have his meds. He and his younger brother proved this weekend again that they can’t be unsupervised when he doesn’t get his medicine (they barely can when he does). I work from home full time and they get out on Friday for three weeks! Adderall shortages suck.

Say hello to Sunny! Quite happy with this cheerful beauty. Been a while since I had one name itself right out of the box.

Definitely looks better. All the color on the paper towels is a little disturbing to see but it sure is a pretty shade of pink.

Thank you all. It’s hard to put anything into words lately. My uncle had a form of cancer called multiple myeloma. He’d been in remission, but apparently took a turn for the worst this last month. He was at Emory in Atlanta on Wednesday to see if he would qualify for an experimental treatment but he didn’t. The doctors had given him two months based on his condition at the time.

It definitely has me concerned for my mother as she turns 77 this year. She’s active and healthy (other than mild high blood pressure). Her mother lived until she was 80.

Then for my husband, this year has started almost the same as 2007. He lost his father’s parents in late January and early March that year, then his father in October. He’s been worried about his mother based on that.

This year still doesn’t seem real. I keep thinking when am I going to wake up and find it was all a dream. I feel like I’m running on fumes, waking up tired and dragging through the day.

I’m done with this year. First my husband’s grandfather passed in January, then his grandmother passed in February, and now my uncle passed on Thursday. 😥

Pawpaw passed very early Friday morning. He had made his wishes well known, so funeral service was yesterday (Saturday). We had a family viewing, then the service was outside at the cemetery. It was cold, but sunny.

My heart goes out to the family members, but especially his wife, who told us when we last visited that she can’t remember a time without him in her life. My heart also hurts for my husband. He spent a lot of time with his grandparents when his was a child and his parents divorced and then his mother went to nursing school. They were a second set of parents to him so he’s just lost a “father”.

So I’ve been working on the dragon that goes along with this unicorn … it goes to my friend. At first he was being a little bugger because he didn’t want to be black and red with green eyes. I picked up a bottle of metallic antique copper and decided to mix it with the red and wow what a difference! I am having a hard time stopping for the night. It took me two sessions to paing the black, one with metallic red and then this one with the metallic antique copper/metallic red mix. I still have to go through and touch up with black where I was a little sloppy.

I meant to mention it earlier, lol, but this fellow is back with me because after I got divorced all those years ago I ended up marrying the friend I painted it for.
