Well, the only time I went fishing for vendors, I brought my White Young Dragon and my Emerald Old Warrior, mostly because those two were the only ones I had on hand. (I’m a college student — the rest of my Windstones are at my parents’ house, in another state.)
She was *VERY* impressed with the OW! 🙂 Maybe a little too impressed — she was disappointed that they don’t make that color anymore. So maybe when you go, bring at least one currently-available dragon, if possible?

Just thought I’d throw this out again, and see! I’m in the market for the tan griffin, and willing to pay up to $250. I’ll consider paying more for one in fabulous condition, or with some odd quirk like striped wings or something.

I paid $60-70 (U.S.) for my Frog Prince, I think, and I bought him from a store that was closing — it was after he was retired, but I don’t think the store knew he was. 🙂

Today I mounted an assault on a local store — I went in and browsed, then asked the cashier if they had Windstones. It turned out she was the store owner (score!), and had never heard of them, so I…
raved about them for a minute, then ran to the car and brought out my Old Warrior and Young Dragon as examples!
I think she fell in love with my Old Warrior. 🙂 She couldn’t say enough flattering things about him, and was dismayed to hear the Emerald color wasn’t available anymore. 🙂 But I did give her Windstone’s web address, email, and phone number (I wrote it out neatly ahead of time and brought it along with my “examples”), and she looked at the website while I was still there.
So, hopefully I’ll have a local Windstone dealer soon! If ANYONE else here on the forum lives in Southern Illinois, and would like to help me by dropping in and seconding the “please carry Windstones” message, let me know and I’ll tell you all the details!

My screen is really really dirty (and the lighting situation is really not helping — hello, glare!), so when I went to look at the page with the possible jewel colors for the PYO dragon, I could not see a difference between “jonquil” and “topaz”!
Obviously “jonquil” is some shade of yellow, but pale or bright? And what about the topaz? Is it yellowy topaz? white topaz? aurora-treated?
Please, anyone who has a PYO with either a topaz or a jonquil stone, let me know what yours looks like? (Tips for cleaning my poor laptop’s screen are also appreciated!)

Yes, I find it really funny that he can’t imagine why people would pay more for a peacock dragon than a gargoyle… even though there’s a huge difference in size (that’s a pretty tiny gargoyle), style (carved/rustic vs. highly realistic), and paint job (the paints used on dragons is expensive, pushing up their price).
It’s like demanding to know why people won’t pay $3 a pound for greens, since they pay $3 a pound for cherries. :::rolls eyes:: Some people just have willful blindness down to an art!
I half-sympathize with his complaint about offers, though, because Ebay rules do state “no selling off Ebay” — buyers should report any seller who offers to sell outside of an auction, and sellers shouldn’t accept offers to buy the item outside of an auction.
(Now, if he was emailed and asked to simply change the auction price, that’s different, but the way it was phrased — “I emailed an offer” — doesn’t sound like that’s what happened).

And honestly? I *like* the idea of of a griffin flood! Get as many as possible out there, so us crazy fans can pick and choose without fears of “it’s going to be retired soon to make way for the next color” or “wait, wait, I didn’t know THAT was coming, now I have to switch focus”.
I’ve been vascillating between “buy wolf griffins now” and “wait for tan griffins” and “but what if that takes forever?” 🙂 Now, though, I think I’m going to wait a while, at least till I know what the Pearl and Black Sunset ones look like.
But I’m worried that by the time those come out the others will have been discontinued or put on “special order only” status, making them too expensive/too hard to get if I decide they really are what I want…
