Awww…Keplilly got it first. I knew someone would. Congrats, Kep. Good buy.

Yes, I resisted as long as I could. My credit card is going to cry on me. 😥

Congrats Kep! You’re so lucky to get one of the first 10. I had emailed the seller last night to ask if it was one from that first batch, and she actually replied last night…but I would pick that one night to go to bed early! 🙁 So by the time I saw the seller’s reply this morning you had already bought it. I’m glad he has a good home though! 🙂

I just thought maybe I can call Levitz and get the manufactorer and try to get in touch with them to see if they sell to anyone else in my area.

That’s a good idea, you should check it out. You could also check if they have distributors that sell online, then they could just ship it to your house. I bought a huge patio table + 6 chairs that way (came from Arizona), and had no problems at all.

I just think the shipping would kill me but you never know. I’ll have ot stop by there again tonight to see if I can find out some information

The shipping might not be as bad as you think. For the whole patio set, I think it was only ~$200 (I saved ~$1000 by buying it online instead of locally, so it was totally worth it). The table alone is probably bigger than your display case, so I’d guess that shipping would only be ~$100 for you (that would also depend on what state they were shipping it from), and chances are that it would be quite a bit cheaper than if you were to buy it locally.

Wow, that’s fantastic! Its amazing that the artist found you after all this time.

The reg says they cant take copies… I read that part myself, however, I am with you on the fact that the blue copy on the box should be sufficient proof that it was insured. I HATE MY PO! (Post Office, Not Parole Officer)

I did not know you have a parol officer

I think there was a time when she was surrounded by Windstones and had a temporary attack of insanity… 😆

Its official. I will not buy a cat. So sorry Spark.

Why not? I have 4 cats and no broken Windstones EVER. I will say they have broken another dragon 3 times but for the most part cats are very wonderful animals. Part fo the broken dragons where where I displayed them

I think if people have cats they have to keep their Windstones inside display cases like you do… 🙂

Also, I did want to ask, do we know what town the theft happened in? If we do, somebody can call all the pawn shops there and have them look for the stolen pieces. (I’d be willing to do so.) I think that’s really the best bet for getting them back.

Melody said in her post that it happened in Stockton, CA.

From what Melody mentioned before, it really shouldn’t…which is why its kind of strange that you’re seeing that problem. Its possible that the paint on your emperor was a bad batch or something…

Its probably worth asking Melody about this since they typically want to get pieces with problems back to the factory so that they can figure out where the problem came from.

I would like to know just to satisfy my curiosity. It was love at first sight with my black griffin (and all of my pieces) and I wouldn’t send him back to the factory. If he was brand new, it might be different, but he’s already a “teenager”.

No I don’t think I would send him back to the factory. I pulled up a catalog from 1992 and he looks just like that one except the gold is darker and if it wasn’t for that one rust looking spot he would be perfect. (I don’t care about some gold rubbing off) 😉
I know what you guys mean…I’m pretty attached to mine also…

Eek! That sounds rather unpleasant…but I guess a space heater and the window AC that you mentioned would help a lot, especially if you stayed in that room most of the time.

So in your case it sounds like there are big temperature swings and if the gypsum stone and the paint were expanding/contracting at different rates then that could cause the paint to flake. It sounds like Lamortfille might have the same temperature swing problem that you do, but to a much lesser extent since she likes to keep the house warm in the winter…and it also sounds like her Windstones have less freckling than yours, so there might be some correlation. It’ll be interesting to see what Melody says about this issue at some point…when things are less crazy for her…

Hmm….does it also get humid where you are? Sounds like it gets humid where lamortefille is too…

What does the humidity do to them?

Well, I’m not sure…but both you and Romeodanny have seen this fleabite problem and you both live in areas which are considerably more humid and with bigger temperature swings that I get out where I am (and I’ve never seen this problem), so I’m guessing that the humidity might be what’s degrading the paint…the bigger temperature swings might be a factor too, unless you guys always keep your houses at a fairly constant temp throughout the year via heating/AC…

I like it to be as warm as possible, so I’m not much for AC. Maybe it is the humidity. Maybe we can ask Melody sometime – when she has less on her mind:-/

Yes… 🙂 The curious thing is that Melody mentioned in some previous threads that they do rigorous reliability testing to make sure that the problem that you and Romeodanny are seeing doesn’t ever happen…I’m wondering if some batches of the paint were bad at some point…
