Here’s my third. He’s not as far along. I did dry brushing on the fur/hair parts. That is done. I wish the photos would show it more. I want to do more shading on the face and more needs to be done on the scales. Can you tell I like blue? 😉 I’m thinking of doing a Kitty Griffin next or a fancy Kirin. I really like the Kirin sculpt now that I’ve painted one.
Love baby kirins, safari poads, mini keepers, and anything BLUE, BLUE, and, oh yes, BLUE.
Here is my second PYO. He’s not quite done. I didn’t really want the parts to turn out so pink. I wanted it more red. So I might do a layer of red over it to darken it up. After that, I will probably antique the blue areas and the wings. This guy took FOREVER just to get the first layer on. Gosh, these photos are SO washed out. His main body color is cerulean blue, and the other large accent scales have turquoise and dark purple.

Here he is! All done. I went ahead and did the antiquing. I don’t seem to have much patience for it. I want to start wiping it off right away! I do like how he turned out though. Sorry for the crappy photos. I need a photo studio!

But doesn’t everyone want to purchase random drugs off the internet? Anyone? (Sarcasm here)

I’d vote for rats too! They come in many different color options. 🙂

Genetically, both strawberry and red roans are the same. Sorrel and chestnut are their respective base colors and are genetically the same. Roan is a gene that ‘modifies’ the base color. Sorrel is a color term usually used for chestnut horses with a light/flaxen mane and tail and together with the roan gene would make a strawberry roan. The mane and tail on a red roan would be the same as the chestnut body color. Then there is bay roan (black legs, mane and tail, red body) and blue roan ( black body base color). You can actually have roan on any base color, which gets hard to see on some of the really light colored horses.
Sorry about the color rant. I’m a horse nut first and foremost. You should see the discussions on some of the horse color genetics Facebook pages. Crazy! The model horse companies are getting better with portraying accurate horse colors. Especially Stone Horses.
I would love to see a blue roan unicorn with the silver horn! Any horse color in the ‘cool’ spectrum would look good in a silver horn.Love baby kirins, safari poads, mini keepers, and anything BLUE, BLUE, and, oh yes, BLUE.
I love the Willow Kirin! Also, I think your lava dragon technique would work just as well with another set of colors as well. I’m tempted to try it with green and blues.

Alright. Here he is, with two coats of gloss. I’m a little nervous about the antiquing. I don’t want to ruin him. I’m really happy with him at this point. But I wonder just how much better he will look with antiquing. Any pointers?

I don’t have any poads either, so I’m looking forward to getting in on this one. I seem to have jumped right in with both feet the last couple months. Ever since I joined the forum here; one lady cat, one fishy (koi) cat, one red fox, and one actic fox! And three PYOs (small dragon, Kirin, and a keeper). I’ve been busy! I’m going to need one of these in a (hopefully) blue or purple poison dart frog pattern. Also looking forward to the blue morpho mini keepers. That will be a MUST have!

Susie/Pam/Melody do you know if more Blue Morpho sun/moon dragons are being made or painted?
What about more old warriors in this color?
We’ll paint more Sun and Moons in Morpho when we get a chance. We out of warriors in Morpho? Ok, I guess we’ll be painting them too.
Right now we’re painting mini keepers in Blue Morpho. They are really cute.I want one of those mini keepers!
