I want 3! Two for me and one for my sister who is also in love with these guys. I’ve been good with saving money for school, time to splurge a little
O yeah, or trade for windstones…
I used to play, and I have a ton hiding under my bed. I have gone to comic and card stores before to sell, but they just want to pick out the rares and give me store credit. So I’ve hung onto mine forever. I have a few revised but my collection is mostly 4th edition, ice age, visions, mirage, prophecy, invasion, and then some portal, tempest, prophecy, the dark, plainshift, and nemesis. Probably 2000-3000 cards, but I’ve never counted =/ I was making a list with each card and condition, but I got bored with it =(
June 10, 2012 at 2:08 am in reply to: Report Windstone Fakes/Knock offs/Infringment Pls read first #881607Found an interesting thing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLUE-EYED-MOTHER-DRAGON-PENA-1985-/160820140372?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2571a09954
It looks like a real mother dragon to me, but the blue eyes? I know people can replace the eyes, but maybe it’s just the fuzzy pictures, but her gold details look real sloppy while the rest of her looks quite nice for an old green. But she has a green felt base, see in last picture. Quite a mix of strange features, I am not sure what to think about her.
June 6, 2012 at 4:28 am in reply to: Oriental Sun & Moon Dragons & Griffins in Copper Patina are in the store! #881436I got my moon dragon, and wow, is she a pretty one. Medium amount of patina but a good deal of purple. Just lovely. I can try to do pics tomorrow or in the wee hours tonight.
May 30, 2012 at 10:34 pm in reply to: Oriental Sun & Moon Dragons & Griffins in Copper Patina are in the store! #881122WOOT those orientals look amazing! I’m supposed to be saving all my munnies for school but I have got to make an exception for that moon dragon. So pretty
Heavy to medium patina. While I don’t want the entire sculpt cover in patina, the more it is there, the richer the copper looks. /love patina!
Hmmm the patina looks good patchy in some places and more even in other places. I trust the painters to pick what looks best on specific sculpts.
I enjoy both the teal and red eyes and gems. I also like the different variations we’ve gotten of the copper color, the cooler copper and the reddish copper. The variations in the copper patina pieces make them one of my more interesting dragon families.
LOTS of purple! /HEART
Heavy antiquing too. I makes the copper richer, darker, and more lovely in my opinion.
I hope the copper patina OW come back in the store…but not too soon as I still have negative amount of munnies :((
I have Little Iron Horse to thank for finding me this gem – I’ve been searching for a White Gothic Unicorn for a while now, and although I haven’t been very loud about it, she was thoughtful enough to remember! FINALLY, my very own White Gothic Uni! She’s in absolutely perfect condition except for missing one gem on the nondisplay side – does anyone know where I can get one of these gems? (Or maybe.. Windstone, do you have any of these still hanging around? XD)
Also would love to know if you find a source for those jewels. I bought a trashed white gothic unicorn super cheap on ebay. He was missing 3 jewels, found one of them in a GIANT HOLE on his non display side, but still missing the other two. It’s was certainly a case of getting what I paid for =/
When I did my masters, I paid for my tuition by being a TA. Don’t know if that’s doable for you.
My program, one of the only three accredited library science programs in California, is all online; the campus is over 100miles away from me. I work part time at a library, but a year there still makes less than what my tuition costs in a year. FT work is not available at my county library and not an option with my course load. A work-study or fellowship is usually awarded as part of a financial aid package, but students in my program do not qualify for any aid except loans, no matter how great the financial need.
So allow me to repeat, F U Department of Education!!!!
a big old F U to the Department of Education and crappy state colleges on top of that. Starting June 1st this year federal subsized loans will not be offered to graudate students, only unsubsized aka financial frickin suicide loans. I have two classes to finish my bloody master’s degree, for that I need about 3k in tuition, but they offered me 17k in unsubsized loans, WTF is wrong with these people?!?!? I don’t know when I’m going to tell my family, the first thing out their mouths will be “why don’t you sell all those dragons?” And then I will have to hit somebody.
The panda is cute! He doesn’t look freaky and scary close up.
A lot of people here on the forum sell on ebay. It’s quite easy to determine from the auction listing if the item is from a serious collector who knows her/his stuff. I always love thos auctions more, but with everyone else, even if you contact them beforehand, it’s always a gamble!
Everyone has had their share of horror stories on ebay; you are not alone! I had a jade oriental I got at a cheap BIN price show up with nail polish on three of the huge side scales. The auction picture shows a little chip in the paint, and I bought it thinking the repair would be no big deal. Then I got to deal with sanding the damn nail polish off and repainting a much larger section than the original damage would have needed.
I just had a gothic white unicorn, BIN for $30 which was pretty damaged, stains and discoloring and chips on all the hooves and two large dents/holes on the non-display side. I bought him to fix him up because as much as I like the gothic unicorn sculpt in white, I don’t want to pay what they go for these days! So I get my already damaged unicorn and behold, the gypsum is like lumpy in places with hard knots all over it. From the pattern of discoloration on the lower part of the body, it looks like someone kept him outside for years. I’m thinking the gypsum got all deformed from the water/moisture?
So yeah, assume ebay sellers who are not collectors are clueless, because they are!
WOOT WTG Pegasi, the end of school is looming close on the horizon for you too?
With beer and SNL I finally thought of a final paper topic for my collections management class that will be less painful to research because I have half the sources cracked open for my webpage project: The Challenges of Successfully Integrating Graphic Novels into the Collection. Ohhh sounds fun, and it’s right up my alley, now I just have to write the damn thing, argue about it a lot, and I am home free!
I have 3 barrister bookcases full top to bottom, a curio, the top of my desk hutch and the the top of my dresser and nightstand. All covered in Windstones.
You were the person who gave me to idea to use barrister bookcases! Thanks much for that, it really is a sturdy piece of furniture since it’s made to hold heavy as hell textbooks yet also keeps all the dust off. When I get some spare cash again I’m going to try to replace my stereo cabinet with another barrister. They just make wonderful dragon houses!
That’s really sad to hear, Windstonefan. It sucks when these threads pop up, but it sucks even more when it happens to someone who’s nothing but sweet and kind to everyone in our little obsessive collection community.
As for advice, I’ve not been here for that long compared to others, but I’ve got a list of rules I obey at all cost. If something seems off or weird, just don’t do the transaction; I turned down a nice trade because of this, but it’s just not worth the grief to have to worry over a problem transaction.
I never use the gift option on paypal; I’ve only had one person complain about this, and so I sent a few extra bucks to cover the charge paypal takes out of the transaction. What’s an extra 5 or 10 bucks if you feel safer with your transaction?
I always check the feedback lists and follow its recommendations no matter how I might otherwise perceive a forum member. If someone was really interested in being a member of this online community and had previously had transaction issues for whatever reason that resulted in being put on the negative list, wouldn’t a sincere person do everything in his/her power to remedy the problems and make good with previous trading partners before engaging in more transactions?
Also, you’ve been here so long, you have nothing but positive karma, so when trading with a newb or someone you’re not certain of, ask them to send their part of the trade first. You’ve been here since 2008, that’s proven trustworthiness, so let the burden of trust fall on others now.
Pretty basic, but I’ve never had a problem on the forum yet (ebay is a whole other story, ack!). I hope against the odds your transaction turns out good and complete to the satisfaction of all involved, but if not, don’t let crappy people get you down!
…on a creepier but totally true note that fraudelent people should REALLY consider before scamming others, if you sent a bogus trader/buyer an item, you soooo have their address. Nothing soothes the ruffled fur of outrage like a suprise roadtrip! :bigsmile:Eeekkk I’m glad that panda hasn’t shown up yet, he’s frickin freaky looking!
