Since we’re all putting in our two cents~

I will never be able to participate in every GB that comes around, even if I want to, because of real life limitations. Shipping costs, statue costs, etc. But I would still rather they happen than not. I get to interact with people and participate in their joy at receiving something beautiful in a second-hand way, and there’s just something very exciting about it. Maybe it’s not as “special” but because each grab bag is a different statue or theme I feel like it’s always something fresh and interesting. As long as Melody is not tiring of painting them and is happy to continue doing so, then I say keep on keeping on. A surplus of gbs means that if someone new comes to the group later and they really, really want to buy a gb piece from a collection they missed, chances are there will be someone to sell second hand (or if they’re really lucky maybe it will still be in-stock in-store).

It’s interesting to me that some people see things not selling out instantaneously as them not being “successful.” I know it’s never good for extra product to be sitting on a shelf longer than necessary, because that means something else can’t be produced, but I just tend to have a more naive perception that as long as the majority sells quickly and the remainder trickles out, that’s probably fine. I know there were several people who were lamenting that they couldn’t jump on the hoppy poad train as soon as it came out; perhaps by producing extra that are sitting around, these people will be lucky enough to have a chance at them too.

I think personally I wouldn’t like to see the GB pieces priced individually and sold on the store or Etsy or ebay. I guess on the one hand it would net Windstone more money, so if they decide that’s what’s financially prudent for them, well, then so mote it be. But doing so will make them much pricier, which means they will probably be out of my price range (and some other’s too I would think) not to mention that… usually, in GBs, there are a couple pieces that are MOST heavily coveted by several people. If a person gets it randomly, well, that’s the luck of the draw and I find it easier to not feel regret over. But as someone whose time zone rarely coincides with release times, I’d be kind of upset to have missed out on something I really, really wanted just because I couldn’t be around to try to pounce on it when it released into the store. I know, I know, life is not fair and part of being an adult is coming to terms with that… but I just like the more-or-less equal-odds of the grab bag.

EDIT: Just to echo some above sentiment though. Whatever you guys choose to do that best supports your business model and makes for happier artists, please do that. You guys do such amazing work, it’s definitely possible to appreciate pretty things from afar without having to own them personally. Thank you all for always thinking about our wants and needs too 🙂 Best customer service ever, as far as I’m concerned.

I know that people have been trying to contact Cesar Millan, Betty White, and Ellen Degeneres amongst others to try to bring more attention to the situation, but I don’t know if there has been any success.

Seems I was wrong about my poad being delivered. My mother’s *and* brothers have both arrived, but apparently they elected for faster delivery than I did. Mine is still up hopping around in Colorado. I may have to name him slowpoke…

EDIT: also that purple poad up on ebay is so pretty! /sigh Too much for me though.

I still feel a bit unclear. Would we have some kind of rubric to vote by (as in, are we looking for video quality or what the person does to make it fresh/exciting) or would it just be “who do we think got the most fabulous piece”?

Ooh, that was a really nice one, pony-up! Congrats!

According to my UPS tracker, my package has been delivered, and my mother also mentioned a package at the house. So that’s 1 of 3!! Sadly, I probably won’t be able to see what’s actually in any of the boxes until this weekend, though, because it has to wait for Skype. THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING MEEEE….

Wow, I had no idea the Chibiterasu was going for so much. I bought that in my first year here in Japan, as well as this changing tea cup set and the limited edition for the game that came with a nifty box and a bunch of tiny extras. Never regretted it.

I’m pretty lucky that I still have good access to all these things living here. (I think I actually have quite a few of those smaller eveelutions either from crane machines or the pokemon centers, lol!) Good luck selling, I’m sure someone will be excited to have them. 🙂

Would receiving a PYO also count, or does the sculpt need to be a production/limited production piece from Windstone? I was just thinking, I was possibly thinking of commissioning a surprise-piece from Kujacker to help her raise funds for her furbaby’s surger and if I had it delivered to me instead of my US address I could film that… but I’m not sure if it would qualify or not?

If we sent you a picture of something for inspiration / color inspiration with the understanding that you’re free to do what you want, would that count? Also I notice that you only list 4 sculpts. Are you fixed with those, or if we sent you another Windstone sculpt (like a kirin) would you be willing to paint it?

A photo for inspiration is fine.

I actually enjoy painting the kirin, so I would not be against painting one (the kirin was the very first pyo I painted). The honest reason I did not include him in the line up was, if there was a chance I would get a number of these commissions, I wouldn’t have to deal with making sure the horn was masked off (silly reason, I know. I desperately wish they didn’t glue the horns in before sending). The only sculpture I am against painting in this current situation is the keeper, due to his size. I feel he would take much too long. The unicorn is another one I personally would prefer not to paint at this time. I also don’t get a lot of inspiration while looking at the phoenix, but if someone really wanted him, I will of course paint one.

I’ve painted a number of ki-rin’s and it’s frustrating not finding any photos of them.

*-* Your kirin are fanastic (though so are your dragons… I’m having troubles making up my mind!). How much would you charge for one / do you already have the sculpt or would you need that as well? I’m debating between that and a kitsune, as I don’t have a kitsune yet.

I live in Houston! I guess the reason it’s taking so long is because I opted for the cheapest shipping. |D Poor poad baby has to spend more time hip-hopping around in the mail because mama is cheap, lol.

Awesome! That’s only about 90 miles from me. So cool to find fellow collectors so near by! 😀

Well, I should say, that’s technically my permanent address. I’m living/working out in Japan currently. But I’ll be back stateside permanently again as of late July. But yeah, it’s nice to meet another close collector!

I’d like to participate in this Quest, I’m just not sure how to make it work out. For cheaper and faster shipping I had my GB poad sent to my US address and I will not actually be there until… uh… next Summer. XD; LOL. Is it possible to film maybe my mother opening it, and my reaction, and edit those together into a video?

You’d need to get her to sign the waiver since you’d have a person other than yourself in the video – but yeah, that should be fine otherwise.

Hmmm okay. I’ll talk to her about it, see what she says. Will there be a specific place to download/sign a waiver, or is it something I’ll need to draft up? (I know you guys have still been filling in the details and whatnot, so no super huge rush, I don’t think my poads are even due to arrive until Thursday according to tracking info.)
