Texas friends, please report in! I found photos today of my old apartment in Houston, completely underwater. My heart is broken for the thousands of people that have lost everything!!

Yeah, I think we had dragon/fantasy rankings, and Melody and the crew also gave out a few silly rankings to the founding members of the forum like Skigod, and Dragonmaster…

It’s not so much that we did away with any of this stuff. We* just switched to entirely software to run everything… it’s such a big change it’s like going from a Windows computer to a Mac. The new forum plugin simply didn’t have any of the post count stuff built in! The options simply don’t exist (at least not yet).

        * I say “we” but in reality all credit goes to the decision makers and IT folks like Clay! I didn’t actually do much of anything.

I can try to investigate if we can add any of that stuff in a month or two if my workload lets up, or maybe Clay can if he has a chance. Like I said, sometimes adding features to the wordpress forum module can make it act badly (remember how long it took us to get the forum even usable again!!) so I am nervous about experimenting much!

Our old forum, back in those days, ran on BBC. Those were the golden days of forums. Sadly things have changed a lot in terms of running private-webiste-forums. Our current one is run off of wordpress, and so that’s what we have to work with. I don’t know if it’s possible to install a widget to track post counts, but I’m always a bit leery of installing widgets that aren’t vital, because they have a habit of creating weirdo secondary problems that we never expected!

I would be extremely wary of shipping to someone other than the confirmed buyer, though. The way seller protections work, if we don’t ship to the confirmed address attached to the Paypal receipt, we are totally screwed if the buyer doesn’t receive (or SAYS they don’t receive!) the item if we ship it to a proxy within the USA. Paypal will universally side with a buyer if the seller does not ship to that confirmed address. For me, that could mean losing out on a painting I put a lot of work into, AND the money from the buyer (and shipping costs too).

It’s sometimes possible to put the proxy’s address in when making the purchase, but not always. I hope you can understand this from a seller’s perspective, especially those of us that depend on sales to make a living. I do not at all begrudge international customers, and I’m honored they’d want to purchase, but I don’t have to like the shipping process!

I don’t know about for Windstones, but as a business that often ships things, I hate international shipping. The online calculators are never quite right so I have to get the item, box it up, take it to the post office, and then come home… just to get a quote. Then the nightmare of customers that don’t understand that they are responsible for customs, and insurance is nearly impossible to actually claim if something goes wrong! And many customers don’t like hearing the large price that comes along with international shipping. I’d love for it to be simpler, for both myself, and my customers. As it is though, it takes three-four times as long to do, and often ends up costing me extra money out of pocket in shipping expenses as somehow things often shift to be more expensive than the quote. A genuine headache!

                  Hi Trina!

So sorry that your dragons are not in tip top shape. If you could share a few photos of their condition, it might be easier for a forum member to analyze if they could preform the repair for you or not. It may be very difficult to find someone local; in which case, are you adverse to shipping them within Canada?

I think I am now aiming for end of summer. Who knew this would be so complicated?

Haha– everyone that’s ever been part of running a Kickstarter!! They are always way, way more work than they seem like they should be.

Hi everyone. I see that my thread picked up a few voices! I have been away for awhile.. long story but I will be back on the threads. The positive of this thread has been that we as a community have come out to share our struggles, but have also come together as a group to find new solutions to keep this community a positive place for everyone, new and old! I think that is amazing. We all deserve a pat on the back!

Thank you to everyone that has contributed to these changes!

Thank you Matty for giving us another chance! We sometimes experience “growing pains” in our little community and sometimes all goes smoothly, and at other times it does not. I hope we can always work to make as many feel welcome here as we can!

Generally the ones from Windstone (almost used up) should be reserved if you just need a tiny bit to do a repair or touch up. If you need enough to do a few PYOs, etc, it’s probably best to buy one. Decocolor paint pens in any metallic color you prefer are the way to go. The large chisel tip is what you want, even though it seems you’d want a fine point. The wide calligraphy or chisel tip works perfectly on the raised bumps on the statues to accent them. I have also used the Krylon brand metallic paint pens in the past and they also work well.

Good morning! Our forums don’t allow more than basic html… it’s generally best if you use the formatting buttons at the upper left of the text box. You can also switch between “visual” and “text” when replying (those options are tabs at the upper right of the text box).

Yep– I made it a “sticky” a while back in hopes it’d be easier to find! We can’t put a big ‘ole link to it on our site since it’s unofficial, but I want to make it easy to find. Bam: https://windstoneeditions.com/the-windstone-forum/topic/feedback-lists-2/

I regret that I had to add another rule:

                                >No using the forum for “Data Mining” to abuse or harass others. It is against our site rules for users to create accounts and/or use our site to contact others to gather information from them to be used in an abusive or harassing manner. What this means is that forum members may not use the forum as a gateway to obtain emails, phone numbers, physical addresses, or other non-public online presence information to then abuse, harass, threaten, degrade or belittle, be hateful toward, or unduly bother (etc) users off-site. While Windstone cannot police nor become involved in off-site activity between users, we strictly disallow members to use the Windstone site to gather information that will be used to harass one another off-site.

Also, just so you guys know, we love ya and we know 99.9% of you are wonderful! All of these rule additions pretty much boil down to being nice to each other (really), and 99.9% of you are not only nice, but MOST EXCELLENT! Thank you!

I’ll get the “new” rule written up this afternoon and posted. If you guys experience this behavior on the forum either in posts or in PMs (Private Messages), please report it to so so that we can keep it in check!

I think that sounds fair but again I think the one or two people that have been the ones to send multiple messages are actually sending emails from here rather than pms on here so does the rule apply to emails or pms originating from here? Because I don’t want people to think they can get around the rules by sending emails vs pms. I think if it happens once a warning should suffice and if it happens again then maybe a temporary ban from contacting people?

Also what about a rule about people not sending their part of a trade or swap? The one person who didn’t send out their parts of trades to several people a couple years ago got away with it several times over the course of a few years and was never banned and people lost pieces and money because of that. She was warned but I think there should be a stricter rule on here that if someone does not send out their part of a trade or swap they they should get a warning and if they do not respond or send the piece or a refund within 30 days after the warning that they should be banned temporarily or permanently from trading on here again.

If people are using email, there isn’t much we can do. We can only implement rules when it comes to Windstone space (meaning: happening on this forum or other Windstone “space” such as the official Facebook, etc).
If you don’t want people to email you unprompted, consider not listing your email in public. Send it via PM to those that you wish to have your email. I know that’s a pain, but we can’t control what happens with people’s personal email accounts. If they are PMing you and being harassing, though, that we can certainly do something about!

And we definitely do have rules about trading/selling though our site. If someone is not honoring their trade that was initiated on the Windstone site, please send all records of the trade gone bad to our staff (keeping good records of trades/sales is in everyone’s best interest). Ultimately John decides if it warrants a warning or a ban.
