Thanks. I’ll be sure to post pictures once he arrives.
Ela Hara, I think I’ll start referring to my emperors as “the Emp-ire” now. 🙂
Do you have a Black one that you can name Darth? Dun Dun Da-Dun Dun Da-Dun Dun Da-Dun Dun …. 😉
Ha ha, no, I don’t have a black emperor. Maybe I should get one. 😉 Oh, what I would do for a monarch butterfly or opoponax emp…

YEEEAAAHHH, guess who won the cedar wood emperor! 😀 I’ve never been so invested in an Ebay piece from start to finish. I can’t wait for him to arrive. I’m so happy!
*rolls up sleeves* Alright, time to pull out all the stops. You did a killer job on him, Laurie. Well worth the wait (It felt like it took forever for him to be put up for auction. Maybe it was just me. xD )
Sorry, I needed some extra time to drool over him.
I completely understand. 🙂
The Emperor in Cedar Wood is absolutely stunning, Laurie! The different shades of brown just bring out so much of Melody’s lovely detail work, and the matte finish on the Emperor in particular makes him look so real… If I didn’t know better I could swear he is breathing, and at any moment he will blink.

Pam, thank you for posting those photos of the Ebay cart. Such beautiful stuff on there! Do I see not one, but two cedar wood old warriors??? Those oiled bronze-looking equines are stunning too. And those turquoise and yellow dragons. Oh boy. Goodbye, money, it was nice knowing you. 😉
Oh boy, I feel a pebble pony grab bag coming on! Maybe not soon, but think of how perfect they are for a variety of horsey colors and patterns. 🙂
Wow, an early raffle poem! Hmm, maybe I’ll have a selection again. That makes it less likely someone will end up with something they aren’t too excited about…
Not that I don’t appreciate having a “selection” raffle, but if someone doesn’t like the prize for the month, they shouldn’t enter the raffle. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are grateful that you have raffles at all. 🙂
Oooh, that rising spectral is giving me fever! I’m always a sucker for spectrals, and that mysterious midnight blue of cosmic shift suits it perfectly. Holding out for the cedar wood emperor is getting harder. 😛
I turned 30 just last month. I definitely don’t feel my age. People probably expect me to be mature and responsible! 😛
I remember being enthralled when I saw Windstones in collectibles shops as a child, but of course I was too young to actually buy any. By the time I was old enough, Windstones had disappeared from shops due to the lack of a Canadian distributor. I basically forgot Windstones existed until I found a few in an antiques shop several years ago, which rekindled my interest. My first Windstone (I think) was a peacock male griffin that I bought on Ebay. Eventually, I found the forum and my collection has grown in leaps and bounds since then.
I finished it but its still on the EBay cart.
I wanted to look at him a little while longer before he gets sold >.>
Heheh, I can imagine. An emperor dragon with rich earth tones done in Laurie’s signature style; I can hardly wait! 🙂
You commissioned it, you paid for it, you own it. As far as I’m concerned, it is yours to do with as you will. You don’t have any moral obligation to keep a commissioned piece of art forever. You might miss having artwork that you have such a personal connection to, but ultimately it is your property to keep or sell as you see fit.
Any idea when the cedar wood emperor will make his debut?
Did you know they only have a few teeth? -and no molars? They eat termites
They are absolutely beautiful. There is a video game that was in the works for awhile, that had an incredible aardwolf/griffin main character…anybody know what I am talking about? I don’t know what it was called, or if it ever got released.I think you are referring to The Last Guardian for the PlayStation, and it isn’t out yet, unfortunately. It’s been in development for many years now.
Regarding aardwolves, if you like them, you will probably also like their nearest relative, the striped hyena. They kind of look like aardwolves with a mane.
I was working on the emperor on Friday. It is pretty close to being finished. Probably one more good day to get him done. Thank you for the compliment.
All these cedar wood pieces are just beautiful, Laurie. My anticipation for the emperor is through the roof!
Bullsquid, you need to start a ‘Go Fund Me’ page to feed your Emperor *Addiction* LOL! 😀
Ha ha, I know, right? Why couldn’t my favourite Windstone be something small and inexpensive, like tadpoads? 😛
