Oh man, Meatball is amazing. I was so hoping that my uni would arrive today but it didn’t. Luckily my very favourites haven’t shown up yet, but so many beauties have already been claimed. I can’t handle the suspense!
The fuzzy can also be………a hat.
HAHA!! That’s a great pic! Also, that is one gorgeous unicorn, and I’m not even a big fan of candycorns. Phoenix and Bayou are my favourite candies so far.
Gah! It’s so hard to wait for international shipping!
I think Giblet is adorable and that African wild dog is very nice too. Actually, they’re all really nice so far, and I don’t usually like candycorns. It’s going to be agonizing waiting for my uni to arrive (probably next Friday at the very earliest) while every one posts theirs so quickly. 😛
I hope mine is either the oryx or aardwolf, or some other neat safari.
I’m torn on this batch. While I agree that they are worth the price, given the amazing amount of detail that Melody has put into each one, it seems way too expensive for a grab bag. This kind of price point is more befitting of Ebay pieces, in my opinion.
I still bought one, so I’m going to be crossing all my fingers and toes that I get one I like (i.e. a safaricorn). With the $360 pricetag, shipping, customs, and lousy Canadian/American dollar exchange rate, I really don’t want to add trading costs on top of that.
Here’s a question for Windstone in general: Will you consider returning to less detailed, more affordable grab bags in the future? It seems like the designs of grab bags have become increasingly complex with each batch, and the price has climbed to match. But many popular grab bags have fairly simple designs, e.g. Kelpie and Leaf, and those wouldn’t take nearly as much time to paint. And since more time = higher price, returning to simple but pretty designs seems like the perfect way to bring grab bags back down to a more attainable price.
I have to squeak for more safari and supernatural young unicorns. Antelope patterns, giraffe, zebra, cat patterns, African wild dog, or mixes thereof would be great.
I’d especially love one that looks like a spotted hyena, or a leopard appaloosa that comes close.
Nice one, Dragon Hoarder. I was tempted to go for it, but I’m hoping that Patricia will do an emperor in amazon milk frog.
Take pictures when he arrives! 🙂
Finally, the gang’s all here! I actually got my poad and another through a trade a few days ago, but I was waiting until my mother’s poad arrived to post pictures, since she doesn’t post on the forum.
Here’s a shot of the “clutter”. I keep wanting to call a group of poads a “poadité”. 😛
Here’s my poad, a burnt orange autumn leaf. I love her bright orange beak. She will probably be up for trade.
This next poad I got in a trade, with gorgeous creamy gold and bronze tones. This one is definitely staying with me.
My mother got an absolute knockout poad. The gold on its butt reminds me of a rottweiler.
Hannah, feel free to use these photos for the directory.
Wow, Hannah, what a great matching set. They really are perfect together.
I’m still eagerly awaiting my poad. The suspense is killing me!
Wow Hannah, that is really beautiful. The star dapples and overall shading is just lovely.
After seeing many beautiful little rock dragon test paints sell over my budget on Ebay, I finally managed to snag one. Here’s Flame Tabby #1 in all his metallic stripey glory.
He’s got such a smart, alert look to him, I half expect him to scuttle off his rock!
My preference for the GB young batch would be normal safari and “supernatural” colors and patterns. Those paint-puke ones do nothing for me. 😛
As for the price, as steep as $300 sounds, I have to agree with Kiya. Grab bag unicorns have definitely proven themselves to be a good investment; even if you get one you don’t like, you can either trade it or sell it to someone who probably loves it, without losing money.
Hey, at least if they are priced high they won’t sell out in less than a minute!
April 19, 2013 at 10:31 pm in reply to: 4/9/2013 Natural Grab Bag Baby Unicorn Batch Photo Thread #896233I came home to the lovely surprise of not only getting my uni baby, but also not getting charged customs on it. Score!
My little one is a bright dappled silver bay with metallic sheen. At first I thought he was just bay, but on closer inspection I saw all the silvery grey on his mane and tail. He just gleams in sunlight. I like him a lot, but I would be open to trading for the right GBB uni.
I completely missed these when they were in stock, but the great Susie found a straggler for me. 🙂 Ah, now the anticipation begins…
That silver emperor is gorgeous! I love the contrast between the bright silver and darker grey.
