Just use USPS and first class international shipping to Canada. You still get a tracking number and it’s a lot cheaper than sending priority here.
I second this. All of my small Windstone store purchases get shipped to me this way and I’ve never once had a problem.
Has any one else had those “oh, well this is both hilarious and unfortunate” moments?
Oh dear, indeed. Did the chair start to give gradually, or did it go all at once? When good chairs go bad. XD
I had an experience that was both funny (I thought so) and unfortunate. I was in the Ecuadorian rainforest as part of a biology course, and on that particular day it was absolutely pouring rain. Under the jungle canopy it was oppressively hot, everyone in my class was soaked to the skin with rain and sweat, and the earth beneath our feet had turned into mud soup. Towards the end of our trek through the forest, with all of us feeling quite miserable, we came upon a steep slope about 12 feet tall that we needed to descend. The only way to go down was to jam the side of your foot into the muddy slope and hope that your foothold stuck. Well, wouldn’t you know it, but as I was descending the top of the slope, my foothold gave way. I had a split second to decide whether to slide straight down, crashing into the three classmates below me, or to push off the slope and fall by myself. I chose the latter, twisting myself sideways away from my classmates and rolling headlong down the slope, eventually smacking against a tree at the bottom. The rest of my group was horrified, and quickly asked if I was okay, but I just had to laugh at myself. I’m sure I looked patently ridiculous, tumbling down like a sack of potatoes (I was also completely unhurt, thankfully). It was a fitting end to a comically miserable day.
I think it’s good to be able to laugh at your own (minor) misfortune sometimes, rather than taking everything too seriously.

(CHECKING IN!!) #936073Just a suggestion, but maybe the names shouldn’t be randomly drawn and matched up. Since the whole idea of the swap arose from the discussion of chocolates that aren’t sold in other countries, maybe have the swappees divided by location and then match them up that way, e.g. if there are 9 Canadians and 9 Americans, randomly select one from each group to be paired up.
Of course, if you were already planning on doing something like that, just ignore me. 😉
Just won the Checkered Gold Emperor. Can’t wait to see it in person.
CHECKERED GOLD #1 EMPEROR DRAGON BY LAURIE
I take it this means I won’t be getting a second chance offer on him then LOL. Congratulations, Dragon Hoarder. I will have to enjoy him vicariously through photos. 🙂
Oh my, that Checkered Gold emperor dragon is gorgeous. I just love the patterning on the body. Great job, Laurie! 😀
I’m digging up this old thread because we still haven’t seen the hoarders get released. I know the hoarders were initially suggested to be done as part of a Kickstarter, but there have been so many successful grab bags since that idea was floated that it hardly seems necessary (at least to me, but what do I know ;)). As much as I love all the pebbles released recently, it was dragons that first attracted me to Windstone Editions, and dragons remain my favorite. I’m sure I am not alone in this.
So, are we close to hoarder dragons being available, either as a grab bag or in production/LP colors? The hoarder photos on the Windstone Facebook page have been tantalizing us dragon lovers for over a year.
Wow, that looks stunning. I wasn’t terribly interested in the hippocampus until now. I love the little pectoral fins just behind the horse front legs.
It’s probably for the best to make it a PYO instead of a regular production piece, since all those details on the base, scales, etc would make it difficult to paint in even a simple color scheme. I’m sure all the talented PYO painters on the forum are licking their chops right now in anticipation. 🙂
I’m something of a generalist, so while I have 113 Windstones, the most I have of any one sculpt is 6 (pebble wolves). Honorable mentions go to curlies (5), spectrals (5), cougars (5), old warriors (4), fledglings (4), hatching emperors and empresses (4 each), mini keepers (4), and baby unicorns (4).
Obviously, it’s easier to collect small sculpts for both space and money reasons, so the fact that I have 5 spectrals and 4 OWs still surprises me.
I have received all three pre-expiration warnings for my ads. But they have raised another problem: the warnings don’t seem to reset if you edit an ad to reset the expiration date. It’s almost as though all the warnings are tied to when you first start the ad, rather than what its current expiration date actually is. Just this Wednesday, I received a notice that my “expired” ads had been deleted, when in reality they were still up and running because I had reset their expiration dates. It gets rather confusing when the email warnings say one thing and the ad itself says another.
*shouts from the rooftop* PRODUCTION MOSS DRAGONS!
We have seen many vividly bright jewel-toned dragons (shell pink, aquamarine, lavender, violet flame, amethyst, etc.), and I feel like Fire Berry would be more of the same. I agree with JynXx, I would absolutely love to see a more naturalistic green color scheme. There has been a dearth of green dragons for a while. If I recall the Windstone color schemes correctly, the last one to feature green in a significant way was emerald peacock, and that’s more blue than green.
Sand is a lovely color, but I understand that it is tricky to paint and therefore probably not suitable for a production color. Perhaps a new brown color scheme could be done, something predominantly brown with some foresty green markings, similar to the recent Earthen Fey young dragon we saw on Ebay. Based on the high selling price of that piece, I would say there is a healthy market for that sort of coloration.
That’s great! Congratulations. 😀
Just yesterday I received a package as part of a trade, and it had beetles too! I’m glad I read your thread, Amstaff, or else I might not have noticed them. That packaging went straight into the trash.
With your beetles and mine, and all the recent trading activity, I wonder if there aren’t more beetles being inadvertently spread around. I think now would be a good time for everyone who keeps a supply of packing peanuts to check for beetles just as a precaution.
September 25, 2015 at 12:57 pm in reply to: The First Annual Windstone Forum Fall/Winter Chocolate Swap! (CHECKING IN!!) #934866Thanks for that list, Falcolf. The only chocolate bars that I’ve tried on the US list were Payday and Baby Ruth. All the others are a complete mystery to me (What the heck is a Zagnut? :P). Also, I had no idea that American and Canadian Mars bars were so different.
Question for US residents: Do you have Bounty bars? They are delicious chocolate-covered shredded coconut. How about Toffifee (not a bar, but soooooo good)?

September 22, 2015 at 3:47 pm in reply to: Dear Canadians…anyone wanna mail me some Aerobars? #934725Here is a neat list showing Canadian bars not found in the US :
Wow, there are so many treats on this list that I had no idea weren’t available in the US. You Americans are missing out; at least half of the chocolate bars listed I consider must-haves. I kept going “They don’t have Big Turk? They don’t have Coffee Crisp?? They don’t have Caramilk???” lol And let’s not forget Kinder Surprise eggs.
I think a Christmas candy swap would be fun. I could put together a Canadian candy sampler package. 🙂 I’m sure there are plenty of tasty treats available in the US that aren’t sold in Canada too.
