See now I wished they had some of the red on their faces and manes.
I really like Kirins with stuff on their faces… but I would bid on these if I had any money!
I like the grab bag auction idea. I cannot afford to participate, but I don’t mind loosing a chance at 5 out of the 140 available. I have never seen a batch of gbs with only five pieces worth owning. I know someone who can participate and likely would, and it gives those people a who love one particular piece out of a batch a chance to win that one particular piece.
I like the custom young to match your baby auction idea a whole, whole lot! Or make this an option in the Special Items section of the store…Do one custom piece a month or something? That way I could save up until I had a piece to match my baby.
You might also think about doing something like this with poads. I know people who would pay a lot to have an adult poad which matched their gb poad.
Something else Windstone might consider is a special auction for some of the pieces that aren’t standard production yet. I won one of the red foxes, and people contact me about it regularly. I am not interested in selling or trading mine, but I know there is a market out there for them. Mass producing them may not be feasible yet, but a small number for a special auction might be do-able for the painters?
January 15, 2013 at 12:28 am in reply to: The new Supernatural Candycorn Grab Bag Baby Unicorns #891692I’ve started keeping a list. I name each grab bag when I photograph it anyway, so an excel list with a batch date, name and short description work for me. I have a harder time keeping track of the batches of the things I have traded for however. I have found that some people REALLY care what batch a grab bag is from and some don’t care at all.
January 15, 2013 at 12:24 am in reply to: Picture Thread: Windstone Ebay/Grab Bag 'Families'. #891691I love my little Lime (I name the gab bags that don’t come with names- easier to keep track of everything that way) but I have no family members for him to pose with. Melody needs to paint me a bright green young unicorn to go with my pretty baby! 🙂
I am so glad that you are back and things are going better!
January 3, 2013 at 9:20 pm in reply to: 12/26/12 Batch of Grab Bag Young Poads picture thread! #890986Mine came today too! She has teal stripes! Rich orange and purple shading on her face and a paler body…
I was planning on trying to trade with Kalandra, but I’m not sure I can part with her.
Hannah, I’m going to try and see if Setsunawolf will post photos for me. If she does you should feel free to use them.
Volunteer.
At this time of year there are tons of holiday things going on. Toys for Tots, Food for the hungry (any number of varieties), Dog rescues need people to sit at there events and transport animals. Any place staffed primarily by volunteers is full of people, generally nice ones. The work relieves boredom, the people relieve loneliness and the helping of others always makes me feel better about my situation.
Having done the night thing, I feel like offering some advice (which you can cheerily ignore if you have tried these things 🙂 )
Earplugs- I found that one of the things that kept me awake during the day was day time noises. Wearing earplugs to bed really helped.
Eyemask- Unless you have black-out curtains on every opening to your room light will seep in. Even a little sunlight can keep you awake or keep your sleep from being as deep. A nice (read padded- I got mine from Target) eyemask will keep the light off of your eyelids and help you get the restful sleep you so dearly need.
I have a GREX Tritium TG. I LOVE it for tiny details. I played with several at a show before I picked it, but I don’t remember the names of the others.
Me Too!
If you are having trouble with the normal meds ask about anabolic steroids. Not being able to breathe, and not being able to tolerate the standard meds to help me breathe were common things in my childhood. Many times there are other treatments besides the most common ones… be sure to mention this to your GP (when you finally get in to see one) and see what alternatives there are to the first thing on the list.
LOL.
“We fled from the silence.”
One author writing about apocalypse scenarios really stood out to me. He wrote that throughout history most religions believed in cycles of change rather than cycles of endings. Those religions that espoused an end of the world scenario set that point so far in the future that no one would ever have to worry about it, or left it so vague that it could be never. Real fixation on an end of the world scenario didn’t start until after the European settlement of North America. As people built a new world over the devastation of the plagues that wiped out so many of the natives they walked into villages and towns completely abandoned by all but the corpses of those who had come before and developed a fixation on the ending of their own society that has persisted to this day. By building on top of an apocalypse, but trying to erase it form their history, they cemented the concept of unspeakable endings so firmly in the minds of their children that it has never faded.
I do not think the contest is fair as set up. The finalists are not being judged on the quality of their work, they are being judged on how many of their facebook friends have/are willing to create forum accounts. If Windstone wants to run a popularity type contest as a quest this would be a fine way to do it, and I would not participate. I find that sort of thing soul destroying rather than empowering. I agree with the people who want the voting changed for future art/photo contest type quests. If I had realized that the voting on the quests was like this I would not have participated at all. The thought that voting on previous quests may have been influenced by facebook actually makes me feel kind of queasy.
I do not know how much overlap there is between finalists from one contest to the next, but you could have finalists from previous contests be the judges of the current contest if you do not do multiple categories.
I wash orphaned kittens in dawn with warm water and a warm washcloth. I don’t put them in the basin of the sink, I hold them the whole time. They seem to tolerate baths better that way. I dry them off and give them a treat afterwards.
