I would think so! There are those fossels that resemble them too, I cannot think of the name… I think the roots of the fuzzy so WAY back.

Maybe all the way back to Canadia spinosa from the Burgess Shale …

Wow, that literally translates to the “thorny/spiney Canadian”. So fuzzies originate from ancient Canada? How Interesting…

I have to say, I do love seeing your work. And the fact that you create in several different mediums. I admire anyone who can ceate in this way, just because I wish I had 1/10th of the talent. I wanted to let you know to keep creating, in any way you see fit, because I personally find joy in things that other people do.

I like the colourful bird one. Very nice! I like rainbow coloured things!

    They are all very nice!
I like working with different mediums as well… I especially like your “Gentle Impressions” leopard! 🙂

Thanks so much you guys! I really like playing with watercolors and splashy colors. Heres another one from today and a sneak peak of the next one:

I actually took the time to stretch the paper for this one:

Suffered an injury last weekend and am struggling. The grand opening at Another World’s gaming shop (my boyfreind’s and his roommates) was pretty good and 4 of my prints have sold over the past week as well as some one pre-ordering some larger art prints so I can at least go up to 8 x 10’s. It has been decided that every Tuesday, I’ll be down in the shop painting where others can watch me work and see my progress as an artist. I was down there all week last week and painted three small paintings and started another large 16 x 20 watercolor panel which I hope to finish up this Tuesday if I can. 🙂 I also have a possible tiny commission through the shop. The last (or first, still to be decided) Tues of every month will be Small Commissions Tuesday. People can come in and pay me by the hour for small, on the spot commissions in whatever medium I have brought in that day.

So here are the sneak peaks of the smaller paintings. The first two will be for sale and will have prints available in the near future. The last was a tutorial design on color theory and will not be for sale since it is not my original design, though I am am sure I will continue to dabble with the idea as I develop my own designs.

First up, is “Flight of Colors”. The original is 5″ x 7″ and I am currently doing a larger, similar version on one of my 16″ x 20″ panels in the shop.

The second is “Gentle Impressions”. This one measures roughly 4″ x 6″ and was worked off one of my own photographs as a reference.

The third is is my color theory lesson, and doesn’t really have a name. The lesson can be found here=> http://lucky978.deviantart.com/art/Rainbow-Wolf-Watercolor-Tutorial-369895217

Thanks for following my work. I’ll post once prints of the new peices are available. All funds earned from my work and prints go back into expanding my work and upgrading supplies and availability.

    🙂

Thats because there are no more calendars left, it was a limited test run and there were only 25 of them printed.

We are in the process of getting older prints re added and new prints added to our shop though.

I fell down the stairs on Saturday morning. My kness gave out and i fell down the last like four or five steps. Now my hips and knees are all kinds of messed up. The grain of good news? I didnt break my large glass platter full of cookies i was holding, I somehow managed to lift them above my head and go forarmish elbowish down first instead.

Yes, she is our crown jewel of the nest and sits high upon my night stand guarding my precious books and aqua aura quartz.

Gorgeous! She’s (he’s?) HUGE! Now, I hate to critique artists who are better at any skill than me (and that’s most lol) but to be really picky (because at first glance,-WOW!) I’d say where the horn is attached looks awkward. It doesn’t look like it could happen in the wild (assuming that hippocampi are real animals) and the angle of the horn too-I prefer unicorns with horns that have a 15-20 degree angle so it stands up a little more straight. Also, the silver stripes in the mane could be blended more. They seem a little harsh.

On the other paw, I LOVE the soft feathering of the red and orange patches on the tail, and the appaloosa spots. The texture of the rock is great too-I’m amazed you sculpted the whole thing (even though I have been stalking this thread ^_^) and I love the free flowing nature of the tail fins-great job! I’m thinking if there was a way to get the waves to be translucent if you did something like this in the future-maybe some sort of acrylic/resin? Totally kick it up a notch. Still love this one <3

I also like the rocks, waves and flowing fins. The texturing and shape are very nice on all of it. I’m not sure how feasible it would be on a project like this, but they do sell translucent sculpey if you’re interested in trying that in the future (the downside is that sculpey requires baking to set up).

I agree with the others about the horn. I’m not sure how necessary it is. I think this sculpture would look just fine without it. To me it just doesn’t match up with the quality of the rest of the work you’ve done.

As for the paint job, I like it very much. Individually each component (fish & horse) look great. My only tweak would be the transition between horse and fish could be smoother in the paint scheme.

Overall, I think this is really a fantastic piece. My critiques are really very minor. I applaud the amount of work you put into him. The forms and colors are lovely and I think you should be really proud of yourself. Leah is lucky to get such a nice piece. Very nice!

Thanks everyone! Per the horn, it was specifically requested and I had a really hard time trying ti attaching since the head is hollow, hence the slight indifference. I noticed it too, but despite my best efforts, its the only way it would set. I actually want to learn to do casting, I thought it would have been really cool to mold and cast the waves and then cast them in clear tinted acrylic, never got to the point of being able to actually do it though.

The silver in the mane is a mix of soft airbrushing at the tips and leafing on the ridges, it doesnt look as stark as the picture showed, but the bright lighting made my camera create more contrast. Thanks for the critique everyone, lots of things to note, and I learned a toooon of new stuff while making this, it was definitely an adventure!

    With out further ado….drumroll…

(im enjoying the kitten gifs, cant ya tell?)

Leahs Breyer Sea Horse!!! All finished!!

    (prior to horn antiquing)

Compared with my Peacock Secret Keeper for size reference:

Close up-s of face and mane after horn was antiqued:

The tail features a shimmer of magic sparkle paint over hand mixed pearly opalescent white paint with spotting in various shades of salmon and what seems to me like a creamsicle orange with black and grey speckle. The stone and waves were entirely hand painted and dry brushed to enhance the sculpted texture, white the fine silver details are in metallic leafing. He even has his own felt pad and custom foam inserts for his box (that I still have to blow up) He sports a Satin finish everywhere the sparkle paint is not.

What do you think? Throw your best critique at me, I am so happy to have him finished.

Got a fire burning near here. Not that close (yet), but I’m still way nervous. My Mom and I are watching the news. I really don’t think it’ll get here (or I’m in denial). Hard to think about what to take if we have to leave. I’d have to leave all my Windstones, yikes! I truly do not think it will travel the many miles it would take to get here, but my stomach is a bit upset. Jumpy and just a little scared. I really don’t like living in this forested area. I’d move if I could.

Oh PD, i have been watching that, i knew someone was in cocolalla, hang in there! I was actaally just bout to post about it. They upgraded it to a national emergency. i have been praying for everyone down there! I am really hoping the storm this afternoon doesnt worsen efforts!

Per enough pestering by friends and family, who have been saying I should make a go fund me for my art for a few months since the last kickstarter, So I went ahead and made one. 🙂 Doesn’t mean I won’t make a kickstarter in the future, just figured if it helps, then it helps. Why not? 😉 Please share my story if you can. This will all go towards supporting my work, upgrades in supplies and getting it off the ground. Even just a share or like is appreciated!
